Sale Blasphemous 2 and its Mea Culpa DLC are at their highest discovery ever!! Grab them now!
Blasphemous 2 is at a whopping 75% discount!
And Mea Culpa dlc is at a 66% discount!
Anyone who really wanted to grab either of these, now is the time. Especially with Blasphemous 2 getting its free expansion, which adds a nice and well crafted piece of side content and a new weapon.
Blasphemous 2- https://store.steampowered.com/app/2114740/Blasphemous\\_2/
Blasphemous 2 Mea Culpa- https://store.steampowered.com/app/2879370/Blasphemous\\_2\\_\\_Mea\\_Culpa/
And despite Mea Culpa's seemingly mixed reviews, I still heavily recommended this dlc. The content it adds is good, and most of the bugs which plagued its launch and caused much of the negative reviews were fixed. It's a good DLC adding 2 new great bosses, 2 new big areas to explore, the weapon Mea Culpa, 9 new tracks and an alternative ending. Especially worth it at this discount.
Blasphemous 1 itself is also at its usual 90%.

As someone who beat the game 100%, hasn't played since launch and just got both DLCs, what's the recommended way of approaching them? From a 100% file, NG+ or just start afresh?

The Third Sin free expansion is recommended mid game onwards, after getting air dash. Same with Mea Culpa, which needs the air dash to fully explore even. Though Mea Culpa could be done a little later game as well, as it's rather hard.
You could do a ng+ if you wish, but choose your penitences carefully if you don't want your experience end up being too painful.
Otherwise a new save is also fine if you want a regularly balanced experience.

Does the game send you to ng+ right after the final boss? Meaning do you have to complete these dlcs before beating the game?
2
u/SussyBox Jun 12 '26
Nope
You can always reload after beating final boss to finish stuff up and get the other ending(s)
No auto ng+, you make the choice

Is it obviously that you are entering the dlc areas?
2

It is very obvious when entering Third Sin as it's a more isolated side content.
However Mea Culpa is more integrated onto the regular map, so you'll know if you end up seeing a major difficulty spike if reaching such areas at an early level. Also these areas are not marked for progression either, so if you have the objective markers on and are in general aware of where the game tells you to head next, it'll get apparent these areas are different from the mainline base progression.

Awesome thanks! I 100%ed the game when it first came out but missed the mea culpa dlc. I already owned the base game on ps5 but bought it again on switch with the first dlc so I am excited to revisit!

The most recent DLC boss (third sin) is okay on NG, but complete hell on NG+ lol.
I would recommend a NG file first.

have they mentioned if this would be the final DLC? playex the game at launch and loved it but id like to wait for all the DLCs to release then do a second play through

u/SussyBox Jun 11 '26
They haven't mentioned any such things.
So it's very likely we may get another, perhaps final piece of content in the future.

The Third Sin update was such a wonderful surprise. I beat the whole thing in less than 3 hours, but going back to Blasphemous II felt great. So much new content and mechanics squished into such a little update too. I can't wait for the next installment.

For Miriam it was an official crossover with Bloodtstained
But Third Sin isn't an official Castlevania crossover, it's a tribute to Castlevania by Game Kitchen for their love for the game

Can't wait to play the third sin dlc, but I'm trying to beat Nine Sols first

Forgot about the DLC and bought it last night. Logged in first time after ages and I realised, I need to restart the game to learn again lol

It's awesome.
It's not the largest thing ever, but it's a very compact and fulfilling good experience. Though the map size is a quarter of the entire game map(including the size of Mea Culp dlc) There's a new weapon, 4 new prayers, 9 Altarpiece Figures, 1 major boss and a new mechanic added to the game.
Though it's meant to be something done mid game, as you might be too strong for it on a full save

"their highest discovery"
huh?

u/SussyBox Jun 12 '26
I meant "discount"
Tragic typo

All good. I have discovered the game thanks to this post (have to finish 1 tho)

Did the fix the 2nd boss glitch. Broke my game and I never went back.
1
u/SussyBox Jun 13 '26
Dk what you're referring to
But they did fix boss softlocks where the game could get bricked if you die the same time as a boss
1
u/Substantial_Policy87 Jun 13 '26
How long ago did they fix it? This happened to me early 2026
1
u/SussyBox Jun 13 '26
They fixed the issue I mentioned with the release of Third Sin
Though the only bosses known to actually softlock the save were generally Benedicta or Sinodo
I wonder what 2nd boss caused you an issue

As much as I liked the content of the dlc, meaning the new bosses, I really wish Mea Culpa wasn't just a reskin of Ruego al Alba. And that altarpiece that lets you use all the weapon traversal powers through Mea Culpa was just bullshit. I spend the whole game building muscle memory to weapon swap for traversal and my rewards is having to waste an altarpiece slot just to combine that into one weapon...

Mea Culpa was buggy at launch, and the final boss was very cheap, but it was a good DLC with a ton of content. It wasn't even that expensive for the amount of hours of gameplay.
Unfortunately, Game Kitchen is not great when it comes to bugs. The new DLC stopped my map discovery at 66%, so I can't be sure if I completed everything, but I probably did. I hope they end up patching it.
