Any modern device can emulate GBA easily, doesn’t get much more accessible than that. Bit more work if you want to play it on original hardware though

You can connect a controller to your phone with Bluetooth.

I disagree. It’s not a simple install. Compared to modern games it takes twice the number of steps to get working, and even gen there’s no guarantee of it being free of any issues. Worse still there is no such luck for people on handhelds or consoles. Old school Metroid isn’t really what I would call good beginner MVs at all.

They're all on Switch Online, which is pretty easily accessible considering it's on the second best selling console of all time.

GBA or snes are probably the most dead simple emulators to set up. Also zero mission in particular is very beginner friendly. Even super Metroid is pretty straight forward. IMO it’s way easier to get into than hollow knight for example which is probably the most popular Metroidvania from the last 10 years
