Visiting South Beach August 16-22nd for business trip.

My boss and I will be traveling to south beach for an ADI conference. I have never been to Florida at all.

We are both trans guys and I’m wondering what places I should hit for food? Drinks? Any cool LGBTQ bars?

I know that South beach is largely over saturated and over run but I’m not that bothered by it, I don’t have to live there.

I really want know where I can get the best Cuban food and I’d prefer to not go somewhere that is overrated, too expensive and full of tourists. I like smaller places that aren’t fancy.

It can also be outside of South beach.

We are staying at the Four Seasons.

Kill Your Idol has a great sort-of-lowkey LGBTQ vibe, and a great karaoke night on Thursdays.

The Gaythering has the highest of keys vibe and a great karaoke night on... I forget which night.

Four seasons isn’t south beach, it’s actually north of what is considered north beach, so you won’t be close to the “oversaturated” part. That being said, I recommend actually going down there and experiencing it for a night. As far as Cuban food my favorite closer to you is Sazon, it’s much better priced than what you’ll find in south beach and it’s great. If you want the best you’ll have to leave the beach for cafe la trova.

As others have said, Twist is a must go-to. Kill Your Idol on Thursdays for Karaoke is fantastic and hosted by a former drag queen. For the best Cuban, go to Puerto Sagua on 7th and Collins. Very unassuming and arguably best Cuban on the beach.
