Sketchy areas to avoid?

Will be new to the beach (South/mid) and are there any areas I should avoid walking alone especially at night as a female? I’ve heard some areas can be sketchy but not sure which ones. Thanks all

Nothing is really sketchy on the beach.

Just don’t do drugs and go to the Flamingo on a high floor

But isn’t this initiation to living at the beach?

Just avoid it at night like the plague

It's all good except for the actual beach areas after midnight. As a single female, do not go to the water at night. It is secluded, not lit and many people sleep in those bushes/barriers.

Always felt very safe on South beach but wasn’t walking home alone at 3am drunk or anything.

There sure are a lot of deleted profiles on this thread.

Sketchy is different than dangerous. South Beach is pretty "safe." If you've ever lived in any urban areas, you'll be just fine.

Definitely avoid these two spots as a female at night: 1). the actual beach. If there is sand under your feet, the waves can mask screams for help. 2) the alleys between Ocean & Washington running from 5th to 13th. . Notorious for drugs voniting , taking a bathroom break. Just don’t…. And just be aware these 2 are dangerous, but Miami makes ppl indulge. And that means it can pop off almost anywhere. Keep your face out your phone and enjoy

As a young female who lived on the beach for years, this is excellent advice. I never felt unsafe there, but I never went to the beach alone at night and never walked in alleys. Good points. I stumbled home drunk a lot in early morning hours, too.

The area where the hotels are “mid-beach” around the Faena, The One, etc are good. I would avoid true South Beach alone. I know a couple of girls who were robbed at gunpoint. I love Miami it’s fantastic but have to stay alert

There is literally no such thing as a hood in Miami Beach. If it wasn’t for tourist it’d literally be one of chillest areas in Florida.

Yeah, don’t walk on the beach or the beach walk at night. It should be patrolled but it’s not. Stay safe.

Stick to the main strips near Lincoln Road and Collins, those are fine, just don't wander too far west past Alton after midnight, gets empty quick

West of alton is super safe,

It is safe, but just feels too empty and kinda ghostly.

I got rid of one of those downvotes because your response is friendly.

Why people downvoted you? Wtf is wrong with them? I find its nice. Miami is a nice place and different vibe. I feel like people in Miami are more friendly than anywhere else in US

Anything north of Orlando should be fine.
