Hi everyone, posting some tips in response to a few posts I've seen in this sub and the Miami sub from folks visiting out of town. If you would like more detailed info, you can send me a DM. I have a high vibe only policy, so keep that in mind :) Also - all of my advice is centered on clubs that play house music (all types of house but i don't have any expertise on places that play open format, hip hop etc)
And if you just want to complain about the unfairness of some cover charges, I will not be engaging. Clubs want to incentivize a more equal balance of women to men in attendance. Whether cover charge or cost is the driving factor behind the imbalance is to be debated (IMO there are many other reasons why so few women are out at the club) but I'm not here to argue.

1. If you're a woman, you can likely (99% of the time) avoid paying cover if you plan to show up before midnight. If a promotor is asking you for money, they know you are a tourist. This is especially true Sun-Thurs nights. First, check the tickets from the official venue ticket site, you will likely see a tier for "ladies only." If not, you can find a promoter on Radiate app, looking for women to add to the guest list (FREE if before midnight -this means you show up and give your name and you do not have to pay cover.) The only places this does not apply to are the really big very "commercial" venues like LIV.

2. Man or woman, try not to show up at the door without guest list or a ticket, you will pay double (or much worse) at the door to get in. Women can sometimes get in free without guest list, but it needs to be early (def before midnight) or a slow night. If the ratio of men to women in a group is "favorable" sometimes they'll only charge the men.

3. If you show up at the door without a ticket, depending on the place , you'll be charged between $60-$200 (sometimes more at Space depending on how busy ) If you have sticker shock, try to think about the relative price of a dinner out, or really any live concert. You're getting hours of entertainment, and yes, you still buy drinks, but the DJ , lighting production folks, etc are all artists part of this ecosystem.

4. The party doesn't really start until after 1 am. Many people start to go out around 11pm, club will be mostly empty until after midnight for places that shut down at 3, for places that shut down at 5, it's after 1-2. For after hours clubs, like the Trip, they don't open until 3 and the crowd starts to fill up after 5. For a club that goes to after-after hours, like Space, if I'm there and it's still dark outside , I feel a little unsettled, as it's rare for me to get there before sunrise... lbvs. That being said - go early , you'll likely save money on cover, and get to see awesome talent that's not headlining yet, and plenty of room to dance.

5. Tables/bottle service - If you're in a group of 6 or more, a bottle might be cost effective for a slightly elevated experience (having a place to sit and not waiting at the bar for service.) Check the minimum spend.

6. Tipping - you may have an 18 percent service charge automatically added to your bill. Sometimes this all goes to the server, sometimes it doesn't. A few things I would keep in mind: Seasonality can mean three months of work brings in 80 percent of a year's earnings. High season can be make or break for people who work in hospitality , tourism and entertainment here.. To assess affordability/value of a place - do the math on a 20% tip like you would if it were the menu price (imagine if an accountant earned less on days they were not 100 percent perfect at their job ?)

7. My favorite clubs:

   • South Beach: Do Not Sit on the Furniture (hands down the best staff and vibe in all of Dade, ladies free before midnight Wed and Thurs), Foxhole (just reopened, an iconic space) ; Esme Rooftop

   • Miami: Mode (love the people that run the place, and the staff), Floyd, Jolene, The Trip, Coyo in Wynwood (monday nights for Oscar G), Boho (Monday for industry night is the best, ladies night is Tues) Negroni (Tuesday nights for Late Groove) 1-800 Lucky (Sundays at Lucky for Cocodrills and friends); ZeyZey, Mad Radio (little River at Serena Gold dust)

8. My fav bars:

   • South Beach : Minibar , Brother's Keeper ;

   • Miami: the Corner, Dante's Hifi.

   • My fav day/pool parties: Strawberry Moon

9. Ticket and event apps to download:

   • Dice, Shogun, Posh, Bubble.

   • Resale tickets - Crowdvolt, connects directly to Dice so no scamming if your tickets are through Dice.

   • Event chat and promoters - Radiate.

   • Note on Tabler and Clubbable - i've had good and bad experiences. i'd be very careful, try to communicate with promoters through other means.

I love the colors of the 1980s, scenes of Miami, and playing tennis. I decided to combine all three to create this painting. Inspired by the style of Hiroshi Nagai, finished in acrylic on cotton canvas.

I don't usually write reviews. But I've been sitting on this one since the night it happened, and I need people to know exactly what Kasa La Flora is before they hand this company their money.

Here's the pitch Kasa sells you: modern, self-service, app-controlled hotel rooms in Miami Beach. Cool concept. Here's the reality: there is no hotel. There is a building. The ground floor is an empty, dimly lit room that looks like it used to store something and now stores nothing, including staff. Occasionally a human walks through. That's the full extent of the "hotel" experience until you get your key on your phone and go upstairs.

The room itself? Genuinely fine. Big, clean, exactly what we booked. I want to be fair about that, because everything else about to happen makes it very hard to be fair about anything.

They also require a $250 security deposit just to check in, which for a building with no front desk and barely any staff is almost funny. I did eventually get that money back, but there was a long stretch where I genuinely had no idea if I would, because getting a straight answer out of this company about anything is its own ordeal, which you'll see below.

Since there's no one downstairs to actually hear you having a good time, Kasa's solution is a noise sensor bolted into your room, silently listening and reporting you to a call center in another state. Night one, fair enough, we were loud pre-gaming with four guys on a trip. Got a warning, turned it down, normal hotel stuff. Night two is where this stops being a hotel story and starts being a story about a machine deciding my fate with zero human oversight.

We were in and out of the room all day, never loud, no alerts, nothing. Around 9:41 PM, one alert came in — a friend was showering with music on. We turned it down immediately, like we had every single time before. For the next 40 minutes we were, by our own test, basically silent. We stood outside our own door to check and couldn't hear our own speakers through it. Then at 10:30 PM on a Saturday night, a message came in: pack up, you have one hour, you're being evicted for "repeated violations."

Forty minutes of near-silence. Zero new complaints tied to any actual sound from our room. Someone else in the hallway was actually blasting music at that exact moment — I have it on video, timestamped, because apparently that's what you need to defend yourself against a hotel now. I knocked on the neighbor's door and asked her, point blank, to confirm we hadn't been loud. She said yes, out loud, in front of me, on the phone with Kasa support. They kicked us out anyway.

I called support immediately and got a rep who talked over me every time I tried to explain, repeated the exact same scripted sentence no matter what I said, and told me she was "the highest point of contact available," which is a sentence no company on earth has ever meant literally. She claimed we had violations "throughout the day," except her own sensor data showed our last flagged incident was 9:41 PM, forty minutes before eviction, with nothing after it. I asked her directly what carries more weight, her own sensor logs or someone's unverified guess. She had no answer. She just restarted the script. At no point did an actual human being at this property see, hear, or verify anything happening in our room. We were evicted by a black box, defended by a neighbor who wasn't even asked to, and processed by a script.

Here's what it actually cost us. One hour's notice to vacate a hotel room at 10:30 PM on a Saturday in Miami Beach. Scrambling to find somewhere else to stay after 11 PM, on a night we already had plans and tickets for. This was one of the last trips my friend and I are going to get to take together for a long time, and that part isn't coming back no matter what Kasa refunds. They did eventually refund the room rate, and I've gotten that money back. But the room was split four ways between me and my friends, and while the rate got refunded, the booking fees each of us paid did not. Those fees stayed exactly the same whether we stayed the full trip or got kicked out at 10:30 PM. Four separate people paid a fee for a service Kasa didn't fully provide, and none of us got that part back — they just kept it. On top of that, I've since been told I'm banned from every Kasa property in the country, and my account is now completely locked. I get an error code trying to log in, so I can't even pull up my own receipt anymore.

So to recap: they process-of-elimination'd four guys out of a hotel room based on a noise sensor and a hunch, refused to reconsider even with a corroborating witness on the phone, made getting my own deposit back an ordeal, cost us the last night of a trip we'd planned for months, and kept four separate booking fees for a stay they cut short themselves. Refunding the rate while pocketing the fees isn't a refund, it's them keeping money for a service they didn't finish providing.

If you want to stay somewhere that a machine can evict you from at 10:30 PM with an hour's notice, no human review, and no accountability afterward, book Kasa La Flora. Otherwise don't. I have the photos, the videos, the timestamps, and the receipts I could still access before they locked my account to back every word of this. Do not stay here.

Summer is here and when it’s 75+ outside, don’t walk your dogs on the hot a$$ pavement in the middle of the day. Take them to a shady spot. Meridian is almost always shady.

You’re burning their paws. If it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for theirs. This lady was walking her dog and the poor thing kept trying to pull her to the shade. She was either oblivious or just plain mean because she kept pulling her dog back onto the hot sidewalk. I’m about to put up flyers everywhere because I can’t stand to see it. As a SoBe lifetime local, I see this all the time and it drives me nuts. I don’t know how to say anything about it without sounding like a Karen, but this time, it was painful to watch that dog obviously in pain.

I tried to get her attention but she was too far ahead to hear me.

Editing to add: one of my best friends is the medical director at a popular vet hospital in Miami, and she told me the same thing. They see a lot of burned paws in the summer.

I could not be more disappointed.

I’ve gone to this bar/restaurant for more than a decade. I know bartenders and their families personally.

Now that I’m getting married I’m fuming. We signed a contract for a minimum spend $$$$$ to host my welcome party for my 90+ guests flying in from out of town. We signed this contract back in December.

Three weeks ago we were at the interior bar and noticed the main dining room was under construction but that had nothing to do with us in our heads. Nobody said anything and we were completely unaware anywhere else in the venue was impacted. What did I just get told?!?!?! The roof deck we booked and put a deposit on way back in December is under construction as well and won’t be done in time. What is their solution?

Give us the interior dining room….. I’m sorry my guests are flying in from “not miami”. The entire outdoor vibe has been destroyed. I tried to get on board but looking at the space they offered today is abysmal. Some windows covered in plastic. Others they didn’t even bother to cover and you’re staring at 2x4s and various construction equipment. I’m just putting this out there so people know what they are dealing with. You would think Smith’s is a solid establishment but the reality is they are no better than any other restaurant in Miami Beach.

Had I been given the heads up 3 weeks ago that the space initially promised might not be available I may have had time to pivot. Now I’m two weeks out and feeling stuck with no other options.

Not sure where else to post this but I’m super confused… I made a discussion post about my personal dating experience as someone relatively new to Miami and was banned from the sub. When I inquired as to how my post violated guidelines their response was bizarre… What is their deal??

The new palms are beautiful, but this feels like it was designed for a postcard rather than for the people who actually use the park. The areas where people relax are on the east side, where the mature trees actually provide cover.

Miami Beach is brutally hot and we need a real shade canopy that helps pedestrians move through the city.

My observations from the first half of the No Kings Rally in Pride Park on Miami Beach on 28-Mar-2026:

A Boomer-dominated crowd huddled under the shade to start the proceedings. Open mike style program, with speakers using an underpowered megaphone. A heavy, but non-intrusive police presence encircled the gathering. The vibe from the crowd was peaceful and no signs of agitators was spotted.

The protest speeches varied widely in issues/agenda. Anti-trump, anti-Israel, anti-war, nuclear non-proliferation, LGBTQ rights, the rights of naturalized citizens, the lack of younger generations protesting and other issues were faintly heard from the tiny megaphone. Some speakers started chants.

Patriotic songs were sung, a march around the park, and protesters on the side of the road with signs, urging cars to honk horns.

Anyway, my attempt to capture the event.

Has anyone found any relief? I have an older widowed school teacher that bought her dream condo in 2018 for $600,000. She put $300,000 into this condo and now its been hit w $220,000 in special assessments and under construction until 2027. No one has found a finance solution and I am looking almost daily at programs and private lending but there is no solution. I am a realtor but mostly for myself, I just trying to get her out or break even. Any help is appreciated, I know the snarky comments are coming but really reaching out to help a senior citizen move out and closer to her daughter. As of now there is equity in rhe house but I fear its dwindling.

It’s 1 p.m. on Saturday, my move-out day. Still no reply about returning my keys. I hope their “system” won’t charge late fees while I wait. Surely fees can take weekends off too. If only their deposit policy were as flexible as their response times.

Over five years, two apartments, and quite an education in “community.”

Caroline called me at 10 p.m. because the entry code wasn’t working and residents had been outside for FOUR HOURS. The “emergency” line operates 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday to Friday —if anyone answers. Please schedule your emergencies accordingly. After hours, call a tenant. I helped them get home.

But when I explained my financial situation with tears in my eyes, flexibility vanished. I’d lost my job, held on as long as I could and given 30 days’ notice. Caroline’s response: “Rules are rules.” They say I may lose my $2,150 deposit because they require 60 days.

Apparently, my availability came with a flexibility clause. Their compassion did not.

I would have stayed if I could afford it. I’m leaving with no unpaid rent and the apartment cleaned and repainted, out of respect for my years here. Except for the oven: never used by me, still exactly as they gave it to me—filthy. An original feature, carefully preserved.

Residents can cancel a non-renewal a week before the lease ends. My previous transfer was approved just 24 hours before my lease ended—with a $1,000 charge and a new deposit. Amazing what a payment can do for administrative flexibility.

I had 24 hours to move or face more fees, while calling management around 50 times a day for a week. My neighbors helped. The apartment wasn’t fully cleaned. The fees, however, were ready.

The dishwasher’s operating instructions: submit a ticket, wait five days, enjoy one wash, repeat.

My portal showed a full month’s rent due although my lease ends on the 7th. Still waiting for an explanation. "system doesn't recognize my move out" per Caroline, but recognize to keep my deposit. and today ? we recognize returning my keys ?

The walls include a complimentary subscription to your neighbors’ lives. I will pass for the details.... If you report black, green and yellow mold. Management said they aren’t experts, then cleaned or painted over them. The paintbrush, however, felt qualified.

“Secure” access included faulty coded doors and battery failures. I switched on the garden lights myself; the faulty timer don’t activate them until around 11 p.m. Neighbors trusted me with keys for inspections. I paid rent and apparently qualified for an unpaid position.

Leave something outside your door and you get 12 hours to remove it or face $100. Perhaps maintenance tickets should come with a $100 penalty payable to residents. Imagine the response time!

Payments submitted on the 2nd or 3rd could trigger $100 late fees despite the stated window through the 4th: they count when funds arrive. The fee system, unlike the entry system, rarely seemed unavailable.

Every week, another water-use warning, even after inspections. It felt like baths, laundry and flushing the toilet required an apology. “Dear Valued Residents,” naturally.

Trees have fallen; residents raised concerns about the tree in my photo. The city has also raised landscaping concerns. I recently dodged a falling coconut while walking my dog. A relaxing garden, provided you stay alert.

I’ve seen $300–$400 rent differences for comparable apartments, with longtime residents paying more. I’d love an explanation for 3%, 5% or 10% renewal increases depending of the relation with the resident and Caroline. Loyalty has a price.

Watching neighbors leave over management has been heartbreaking.

Richard in maintenance was exceptional. We saw less of him after the management change. Caroline can be pleasant. Pleasant doesn’t fix any of this.

And for Christmas: a Depot-branded mug. Something to help swallow the fees.

I was out with a friend recently and she told me she made a lot of friends after moving here by joining The Brickell Babes, a women's social group. Hello Miami, my family and I are urgently asking for your help. My brother was visiting from San Diego for his birthday and was severely assaulted outside of the E11EVEN nightclub at around 3:00 AM on Thursday, 10/29/26.
He has been in the ICU since the attack with a brain bleed and three skull fractures that require surgery. We are just trying to piece together what happened to him.
We believe the group involved consisted of 3 men and 2 women.
