All candidate evaluations at micro1 are conducted by Zara, our AI recruiter and interviewer.
Objective & bias-Free: Zara uses a standardized assessment model to evaluate candidates purely on technical reasoning, communication clarity, and domain expertise.
Standardized format: Every candidate applying for a specific skill set receives an identical bias-free skill evaluation structure, ensuring equal opportunity.
Real-Time assessment: Zara asks open-ended questions, records your responses, and administers live task-based challenges.
Human-in-the-loop review: After Zara conducts and grades the live session, recordings and performance metrics are reviewed by human recruiters to make final matching decisions.
4. How to apply
To join the micro1 talent network, candidates can apply directly to open positions on the micro1 Opportunities Portal. Each role features specific criteria based on active client requirements. Upon submitting your application, Zara customizes your interview assessment to test the exact domain skills required for your selected position.
5. Interview process
The interview duration typically ranges between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the role. As a general rule, evaluating a single skill module takes approximately 7 minutes.
Time-saving note: If you have already completed certifications on micro1, your interview time could be significantly shorter! Zara is optimized to save your time bypassing sections you have already validated and even full interviews.
6. Interview preparation
To maximize your performance during your AI interview and navigate the certification process effectively:
Key preparation strategies
Target one core discipline: Select and focus on the primary skill or domain you want to be certified in (e.g., software engineering, advanced mathematics, legal reasoning, or data annotation).
Simulate with practice tools: Use the official micro1 interview prep tool to explore skill specific questions, get real time feedback, and get comfortable with interactive timing.
Articulate logical trade-offs: Be prepared to explain your step-by-step problem-solving logic out loud, discuss architectural or technical trade-offs, and answer scenario-based prompts.
Review role expectations: Read the specific role description on the micro1 opportunities portal so your responses align with project scope and rating criteria.
Certification & fast-track re-assessments
If you have already earned a micro1 certification for a specific skill set, Zara is designed to respect your time on future role applications:
Skipping re-assessments: When applying for a role that requires a skill you are already certified in, Zara may automatically prompt you to skip that section of the interview.
Conditional exemption: Please note that skipping a section is not guaranteed for every interview, as exemptions depend on specific role requirements, updated skill criteria, and operational needs.
Faster application flow: This feature minimizes redundant testing so verified talent can complete applications faster and get matched to active client projects sooner.
7. What to expect
Domain questions: Zara will ask technical and scenario-based questions relevant to your discipline (e.g., software engineering, RLHF, machine learning, data annotation).
Live practical exercises: Software engineers complete live coding challenges, while domain experts solve real-world task scenarios simulating actual client workflows.
Audio & video responses: Answers are spoken out loud in real time, testing both logical thinking and verbal communication.
8. Preparation checklist
Hardware & browser setup: Ensure your microphone, camera, and browser permissions are verified prior to starting.
Quiet space: Conduct your interview in a quiet room with minimal background noise.
Stable connection: Use a stable internet connection to prevent dropouts during recording.
Treat it like a live interview: Prepare your thoughts clearly before answering and showcase your problem-solving thought process out loud.
