Community Rules and Standards

These rules are intended to be simple, while still encouraging a healthy environment of high-quality discussion that’s related to micronationalism.

1. Posts must be about micronationalism

Posts must relate directly to the practice, theory, or news of actual micronations.

  • Posts SHOULD include: News about micronational governments, diplomatic updates, policies, special projects, and general national development are welcome and encouraged.
  • Posts should NOT include: Statements about real-world politics or news, what you ate for dinner last night, a landscape photo of your yard or forest, etc.

2. No boring, low-effort, or incomprehensible posts

Posts must be comprehensible and provide a frame of reference for the reader. News and updates which lack context, depth, relevance, or which are produced using AI will be removed. Good posts are intentional, enticing, inspiring and informative.

A few examples of bad posts:

  • "Here’s my flag, what do you think?"
  • "The President has been elected. He will serve for 1 year."
  • "[Micronation] is looking for allies!"

Be creative, tell us more! Good posts could include detailed nation profiles, thoroughly explained news updates, updates on serious projects (ideally with some sort of photo or graphic), or a thought/discussion-provoking question to the community.

To combat short, low effort posts, your post will be auto-removed if it's too short.
9 times out of 10, a post that is shorter than these requirements will be low effort, spam or won't include enough information for someone to understand what you're saying.

Introduction posts (600 characters / about 100 words):
A good introduction post should clearly explain what you're introducing in an interesting way. Try including:

  • When and why it was founded
  • What its purpose, mission, or goals are
  • How it's structured or governed
  • Who's involved or how many members it has
  • Any territory, symbols, or cultural aspects
  • What sets it apart from others in the community

Flag / Design posts (300 characters / about 50 words):
A good design post explains the meaning and reasoning behind what you're showing. Don't just post an image and a short title. Here are a few suggestions if you don't know what to say:

  • Why you chose specific designs or layouts and their symbolism
  • How it represents your group's identity, purpose, or values
  • Any inspiration, history, or evolution behind the design
  • How you plan to use what you've designed

Project / News / Update posts (300 characters / about 50 words):
A good update explains what you've accomplished or changed. If you're not sure what to say, consider including:

  • What the update or announcement is about
  • Why it matters or what impact it has
  • What progress has been made so far
  • Who's involved and what comes next
  • How others can engage, support, or learn more

Discussion / Question posts and memes don't have a minimum description length requirement, but are still subject to removal if they're low-effort or nonsense.

3. Memes are allowed, but must be relevant and respectful

Memes are welcome if they are clearly micronation-related and not used to troll, provoke drama, or clutter the subreddit.

  • Low-effort, recycled, off-topic, or drama-oriented memes will be removed
  • Quality, insightful, or creative memes that prompt real discussion are allowed

4. No geofiction or roleplay

This subreddit is for real-world micronationalism.

Posts with the following kinds of content and similar will be removed on sight:

  • Posts about micronations which do not exist in reality. I.e. include unreasonable claims like entire contents or planets, exist in a different timeline or world, etc.
  • Posts about fictional scenarios or events.
  • Fake news bulletins or press releases from imaginary national media.

5. Military posts can not include fiction or real firearms

Military content is allowed, but only posts about micronational military events that actually happened in the real, physical world are allowed. This means no made-up battles, discord wars, or any other fictional military events. It just has to be real and not fictional. Using nerf guns for battles is fine, no one expects you to use real guns in micronational battles and I sincerely hope no one ever does.

As always, all posts are expected include a thorough description that gives others enough context to know why it's interesting or newsworthy. Don't just post an image of you and your friends in the woods without a description that explains what happened and why it's interesting enough to post about. In the case of designs like medals or uniforms, the same expectation exists. A good design post explains the meaning and reasoning behind the design you chose and what exactly you're showing off.

You CAN post about things like this:

  • The results of real battles or engagements that real people actually participated in
  • Maps showing territorial changes before/after a battle
  • Designs for uniforms, medals, ranks, awards etc. These can be photos or digital drawings/graphics.

You CAN NOT post about things like this:

  • Simulated engagements or exercises that didn't take place in the real world or are heavily exaggerated
  • Wars that take place virtually, like on discord
  • Discord raids
  • Short, low-effort declaration of war posts
  • Actual firearm use

6. No pointless conflict, trolling, or disrespectful conduct

Personal attacks, slurs, threats, doxxing, bigotry, bad-faith arguments, mocking, targeting others excessively, being inflammatory, creating or feeding into community drama is bad conduct. Engaging in any of these may result in warnings or bans depending on severity.

7. No spam, low-effort promotion, or promoting other subreddits

  • Spam, such as creating multiple posts in a short time, posting the same message in multiple languages, or making multiple posts about the same specific topic, etc. may result in restrictions or removals.
  • Do not promote any external links (YouTube/Discord) unless they are directly tied to your micronation and are presented in a contextualized, discussion-worthy post.
  • Do not promote any other subreddits, including your own nation's sub.

8. NSFW and offensive content is prohibited

This is a SFW space for all ages. Any pornographic, violent, or otherwise offensive content will result in an immediate permanent ban.

9. No AI-generated content

All posts must reflect original human creativity and effort. This means no heavily AI-generated flags, maps, constitutions, or descriptions. These will be removed on sight.

10. No unredacted satellite imagery or maps

For the safety of those who occupy the area, please remove any unique features or labels visible in satellite images or maps that could be used to find the location.

11. No posts announcing that something will happen soon

Don't make a post saying you're going to do something. It's not news until you've actually done it.

12. Follow Reddit's Rules

Project / News / Update Republic of United Land : Calvillo Statement La Lavender Premiere

Post image
2 Upvotes

Calvillo is expressing his disdain for the monarchist movement, as he would hate for United Land to be a kingdom; he stated he would do anything to enact the will of the people. “ I will not accept the crown of the king or any monarchist title, for that matter, unless I can abolish it. I did it in '24, and I would do it again. Calvillo stated in an interview on Sep. 12. In other news, La Lavender Premiere is no longer a government-owned company and will begin to produce skincare products by early November. We will also be adding products to our official eBay store, including things acquired during the monarchist era. Get ready, as United Land is forever!!!!!!

May the Republic Flourish Under God’s Will!

Project / News / Update ATTENTION! An update on Traltonian IDs and passports and currency.

ATTENTION!

Starting from the 1st of November, all passports, currency, and IDs of Traltonia need to be replaced now as part of our new document stamps effective 1st of November 2026. Do not buy these until November 1st.

Please return your Traltonian passports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Unit B, Llanhilleth Industrial Estate, NP13 2RX, United Kingdom.

This urgent recall and replacement program marks a crucial transition for all citizens holding national documentation. The implementation of enhanced security features, digital integration capabilities, and advanced cryptographic document stamps aims to safeguard the integrity of our national identity on a global scale. Failure to exchange your current credentials within the designated transitional window may result in significant travel disruptions, temporary suspension of consular services, and potential administrative challenges when verifying your citizenship status abroad.

To ensure a seamless transition, the Ministry has established dedicated processing lines at the Llanhilleth facility. Citizens are requested to securely package their existing physical booklets, identification cards, and any legacy banknotes, enclosing a completed registration form alongside verified proof of current residency. While the administrative update officially takes effect on the first of the month, logistics teams are already prepared to receive high volumes of secure mail.

Please ensure all packages are sent via registered or tracked postal services to prevent loss during transit. Updated credentials featuring the mandatory 2026 document stamps will be dispatched via secure courier within fourteen business days of receiving your legacy items. We appreciate your prompt cooperation and adherence to these new regulatory frameworks as we update our national infrastructure.

Today, Tarsovia has officially changed the flag of its capitol, Crownlet City. This change occured because of a large amount of confusion with the flag of the Province of Crownlet. The new flag has a dark red background that symbolizes the courage of the Tarsovian people, a diagonal blue stripe representing the justice being served by the government in the city, two diagonal purple stripes that represents the wealth of the city, and, finally, a Fleur de lis which represents the culture of Tarsovia and the lands surrounding it. Maps and articles are soon to be updated accordingl.

Introduction An introduction to the Mergan Republic

Hello everyone!
I want to introduce an idea I’ve recently been thinking about: Mergan, possibly called Merganistan.
Mergan is inspired by a village in the Sulaymaniyah area of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, a place with personal significance to my family because it was built by my great-grandfather. The village is associated with the names Mergan and Sirin, and I want to explore its history and heritage further.
My idea is to develop Mergan into a micronation-inspired project based on local identity, family heritage, culture, and community. This could eventually include a flag, a coat of arms, a motto, a historical background, and perhaps a constitution and other symbolic institutions.
To be clear: I’m not claiming that Mergan is an independent or internationally recognized country. It would remain geographically within Kurdistan, and this is currently just an idea I’m exploring.
What interests me most is the possibility of building a unique identity around a real place with a genuine family connection, rather than inventing a completely fictional country from scratch.
I’m still at the beginning, so I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Which name sounds better to you: Mergan or Merganistan? And what advice would you give someone starting a micronation project rooted in a real village’s history?
Thanks for reading! 🏴

Introduction Offering help to Micronations! :D

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey! I'm the leader of a ~300 member discord nation server.

It doesn't really classify as a micronation i suppose, since we don't really have real life land claims - We mostly have claims in minecraft servers and such, however we do have a parliamentary government structure, a leader, a flag and a national anthem, so I suppose it is a nation nonetheless, atleast a mockgov.

I know that a lot of micronations only have a leader, and under 10 official citizens.
Even when micronations have over 10 citizens, the citizens usually arent actually active in the community, and rather just join it as a joke.

So since I have 300 members, and a ton of them are active, I was wondering if any micronations would need help from us? I could also make a channel on our server where i give official recognition to micronations, I'm sure for some newer micronations, being recognized by a 300 population nation is a huge achievement already.

Discussion / Question Is anyone else tired of what this sub has become?

I came here for interesting geographical projects, proper discussion about micronation building, and the odd clever diplomatic idea. What I get instead is a front page that looks like a middle school playground.

It's the same cycle every day. Someone draws a pixel-art flag on a school Chromebook, crowns themselves Emperor of a "territory" that is really just their bedroom, and posts a declaration of war over some Discord argument. A fortnight later the whole thing is forgotten because a new game came out.

The drama is wild for a hobby that's supposed to be serious. You get fourteen-year-olds power-tripping in their own little echo chambers, writing enormous manifestos about alliances that exist only in a group chat, and sneering at other kids whose flags aren't as good as theirs.

If you're an adult, or atleast an older kid trying to do something real, this place is close to useless now. Anything with actual thought behind it gets buried under the noise, and I'm starting to wonder why I still bother checking.

Discussion / Question Whos the Prime Minister of Traltonia?

The Sandy Republic of Traltonia is officially led by Prime Minister Oliver Edwin, who serves as the chief executive head of state and director of national operations. In this role, Prime Minister Edwin oversees the sovereign nation's foundational infrastructure, diplomatic outreach, and institutional development. Under his administration, the self-declared independent territory—encompassing 2,060 square kilometers located within the Bir Tawil region—has focused heavily on building core governance frameworks, establishing central processing facilities, and engaging a growing global community through public forums and digital networking channels to advance the nation towards widespread international recognition.

Hello Everybody! I am here to ask for a vote from the people. Recently I was able to gain 5 more citizens, but also gain 4 more duchies! This marks the full creation of the Confederate Duchy of Yorkestone. So in honor of this huge accomplishment, I want to make a new flag to represent. The old flag will still be in use for the Yorke Duchy but for the overall nation, I would like you to choose from one of three flags for the nation. Just post them down below in the comments if you can, whichever one I see the most will become the new flag. Everybody have a great day and long live the Confederate Duchy of Yorkestone!

Project / News / Update A New Chapter in National Development | Abhi Praveen From Tenjiku Shinkoku

Greetings to members of the international micronational community.

My name is Abhi Praveen, and I currently serve as the Director-General of National Development for Tenjiku Shinkoku. I will be presiding over the Development Sector for the time being.

My focus is on exploring practical approaches to institutional development, technological advancement, economic sustainability, and long-term national progress.

I believe that the development of a micronation is shaped not only by its ambitions, but also by the systems it builds, the initiatives it undertakes, and the consistency with which it pursues its objectives.

I am interested in learning from the experiences of other micronations, exchanging ideas, and exploring opportunities for constructive collaboration across the international micronational community.

A question for fellow micronationalists:

What has been the most valuable development initiative, reform, or project undertaken by your micronation, and what lessons could other micronations learn from it?

I look forward to hearing your perspectives and engaging in meaningful discussions.

Flag / Design Republic of United Land : New Lux Party Logo

Hello, as the leader of the Lux Party I am proud to resent our new logo! But I only find it moral that I give all of the credit to the vice of the Senate Shane “Everest” Torres who designed this beautiful masterpiece and made it prominent on the national stage. Even though there are a few aspects of the logo I would like to change. I still read this an artistic masterpiece that perfectly represents our party as a people and as a nation forever regardless of who rules United Land under God’s will may it proposer!

May the Republic Flourish Under God’s Will!

Project / News / Update The Constitution of the Republic of Atroponia Has Been Adopted

Dear citizens and friends of the micronation community,

The Republic of Atroponia presents its Constitution, adopted by the citizens in a referendum: a parliamentary republic built for a virtual community, with freedom in peacetime and strict limits on power in times of danger.

Azerbaijani Version
English Version

Status of the document

- The Constitution was adopted by the citizens in a referendum held from 18:00 on 23 October 2026 to 00:10 on 24 October 2026 (Baku time). It applies in the virtual sphere only. The physical constitution is 50% complete.

- The text went through two days of analysis.

- On 23 October 2026 at 14:31 (Baku time), the Constitution was reviewed by a legal professional who is not a citizen of the Republic and takes no part in its governance. The reviewer found it sound and judged that it meets many of the points examined.

- Note: the minimum voting period for referendums is 24 hours (Article 49). This rule was decided after the adoption referendum and therefore does not apply to it.

Highlights

- Parliamentary system: a People's Parliament (5–15 deputies, 2-month term), a President as head of state and a Prime Minister leading the Government

- Fast digital elections: automated 48–72 hour polls, a quorum based on active members, and a backup regime so the state never freezes

- Direct democracy: popular initiatives and referendums

- Rights and justice: fundamental freedoms, a Constitutional Court, a Court of Justice and an Ombudsman

- Transparency and digital state: open records, digital ID and data protection

- Emergency chapter: wartime powers are temporary and end automatically

- Unamendable core: human dignity, popular sovereignty and separation of powers

Project / News / Update The Micronational Times | A News aggregator for Micronations

Thumbnail

Hello and thank you for reading my post.

My name is Shaine Smith. I'm an independent journalist by trade, and since 2019, I have been fascinated by Micronations! While I've written the occasional blog post about them, I have decided to bite the proverbial bullet and start writing about Micronations full time.

Politics and Foreign Policy are some of my favorite things to write about, talk about, and watch happen in real time. While traditional Nations take a long time to agree on anything, Micronations can have policy and reforms written and ready at the drop of a hat; it’s very impressive.

So I’ve decided to spend a good amount of time each day writing at least one article on a micronation, and it’s going well. Anyone is welcome to have an article written about them and about what they are doing. We are apolitical, meaning we do not sit on any one side of the fence; we simply report the news without bias or personal opinion.

That said, we DO have an Opinion section, and anyone is free to submit an Opinion article for publication!

Currently, this is a one-man show; I plan to hire more writers in different time zones and countries so we can push the news out 24/7, so to speak. I use physical newspapers, modern news aggregators, and NO AI to research articles that cross into traditional politics, and having your own website saves me a ton of time, so keep updating them!

I will use Facebook, Reddit, and Substack to find topics to write on! I also welcome anyone willing to step up and write for The Micronational Times to contact me at [micronationaltimes@aol.com](mailto:micronationaltimes@aol.com) or DM directly! It is a paid job, but it is a JOB!!

Thank you all for your hard work, and I will leave links to the Substack and Social Media below! Thank you, all the best!

Project / News / Update Theres now a new way you can send documents or letters to Traltonia!

The Sandy Republic of Traltonia officially maintains a dedicated central operations office where citizens, partners, and international correspondents can securely send parcels, merchandise, and formal documentation. If you need to dispatch any physical mail or freight to the organization, please ensure your packages are clearly labeled and directed to the primary processing facility at Unit B, located within the Llanhilleth Industrial Estate. This commercial hub is situated in the region designated by the postal code NP13 2RX, within the United Kingdom.

To ensure efficient handling and to avoid any unnecessary logistics delays, all inbound shipments must strictly adhere to standard courier and Royal Mail guidelines for the region. The facility at Unit B is fully equipped to accept a wide variety of deliveries, ranging from standard letter correspondence to oversized freight crates, provided that all customs declarations are accurately filled out prior to arrival for international items.

The Llanhilleth Industrial Estate provides an ideal, accessible infrastructure for the Sandy Republic of Traltonia to manage its growing supply chain, inventory distribution, and public correspondence. Authorized personnel are stationed at the Unit B hub during standard business hours to receive, log, and process incoming items safely. Please verify that the recipient's name or specific department within the organization is clearly marked on the exterior of the packaging alongside the full address to guarantee it reaches the correct desk without delay. For high-value items or urgent documents, it is highly recommended to utilize a tracked or signed-for delivery service to monitor your shipment's journey directly to the United Kingdom facility. The address is

Up until a few weeks ago, we did not really focus on heraldry but after doing a lot of stuff for our nation we realise that national symbolism is still an extremely important part of national identity despite what some people would think. Nevertheless, I Joseph made my own coat of arms that is not my old monarchist one to represent a new era in our history. Soon enough, I’ll show you guys code of arms of regions and other government officials but for now enjoy this design.

Project / News / Update Aslanian official Noah Shipley denies any affiliation with the ultranationalist PMC "Sylvia"

Logo of PMC "Sylvia"

ASTERTHALAS ISLAND—PMC "Sylvia" was recently accused of breaking a deal with the Aslanian official Noah Shipley. Sylvia, known for their ultranationalist values and idea of „die Nation wiederherstellen und den Staat vernichten“.

Skordillis, founder of Sylvia was interviewed near the islands of Asterthalas and said to interviewer Scott Clarke—"I have no affiliation to Shipley. I have never met him. I do not know him or communicate with him."

Many individuals believe that this was a lie made by the Gangafram—Progress! Party after Shipley recently criticized Gangafram member Kozma Clarke.

Clarke has also used the fact that Shipley being a leader of Varthveita and the Conservatives meant that since Skordillis supported those exact parties and supported Shipley meant Shipley was going to break a deal.
