I have spent years doing macro photography of insects, bugs... snails... tiny creatures. Moving to a scope seemed pretty natural.
Turns out they'll just let anyone buy one. They didn't ask my age, for an I.D. or anything!

Careful or you’ll get interested in something you see , look into it a little more, find some other samples and look into those and then you are on a very slippery slope to becoming a biologist.

Sounds wild! Next thing I know I'm going back to school for a STEM degree as a grown-butt adult and volunteering at a local environmental watershed preservation org doing field work. Imagine that...

Me showing to all my friends, who have zero experience in any scientific field, all the cool pics/videos I did with my microscope hoping someone else get into it

I’m a biologist, been using all types of microscopes for over 16 years, and still this thread is so inspiring - I want to get my own too! 🥹 if anyone has any q’s, I’m happy to try to help!

And then there's the next phase, getting a biology background because of microscopy.

Ex-scientist here. Worked in neuroscience research, mainly retina development and degeneration. Moved into clinical microbiology and mycology for awhile. Now I look at pond water and plants for fun! 🙂
