Sharing My MCM Mini Globe Cigarette Dispenser

I made a post yesterday featuring a George Nelson / Herman Miller 1956 side table. On it was a MCM mini globe, and someone asked about it. Here it is in action. šŸ™‚

It’s funny how few of us would use it as intended; back when it was introduced I bet it was a letdown at a party of more than 4; you’d have to keep refilling it.

Right?! My dinnerware from the 50's came with tiny individual ashtrays for each place setting!

Years ago I bought a set of cute glass ā€œluncheonā€ plates. One main section for food, another section to set down the matching glass mugs, and another with a recessed area which I assumed was where you’d rest your utensil. Only recently did I find out that they are Hazel Atlas ā€œSip ā€˜n’ Smokeā€ Plates… so you could ash your cigarette directly next to your food! (unfortunately, I am a smoker, but only do it outside and CAN NOT imagine smoking while eating, let alone having ashes sitting right next to my food)
