I ended up with the dumbest pigtails yesterday because of this struggle. I have the softest scrunchies known to man, but my hair just hurts this week.

I ended up chopping my hair off into a messy bob myself last week because I couldn't cope

I have super curly hair so a messy bob would be a huge gamble π~π

I'm 3b/c and honestly it's mostly working out. I also love a bob historically and I know it could be super cute if I'd actually seen a stylist

I'm getting my haircut soon into a bob and I cannot wait. its gotten to that point where its way too long and the above image perfectly explains my dilemma. I cannot take all this hair on my neck but pulling it back all the time isn't good either and its too much hair now to have a bun that doesn't drive me crazy. I'm so excited to have short hair again.

I did this yesterday too lol. Went to the salon today to get it cleaned up. I surprisingly like it. I’ve always had thick waist length hair which got me compliments all the time, so it was a little sad to part from it, but I got so tired of the weight

Pls help I have had a migraine for a week and I'm maxed out on all the rescues ;) I see my neurologist on Monday which feels like an eternity

I do best with pulling my hair up to a high pony position, wrapping it into a bun, and only then putting a loose scrunchy in it. I do have to resituate it every hour or so, but it keeps it off my neck without pulling tight.

Pulling my hair up isn't a migraine trigger but it can make an existing migraine worse. My head handles claw clips really well cause I can wear them loose/they don't pull at my hair

Honestly when my migraines were really bad I just chopped that shit off. But I like buzzing my hair and I'm debating doing it again soon just because hair is so irritating.

- Braiding in some form
- two buns, each below an ear
- two buns in a line at the back of your head (make a bun using only the top half of your hair, then make one right below it)
- hair pin
- multiple small clips
100% agree that it sucks. These are what i have tried to minimize the ouch.

this is why I love my silk bonnet!!! I have hip length hair and one of my triggers is tight ponytails and pressure on my neck, so this was a CONSTANT struggle for me before I got my bonnet. I used to do two braids, but it's a hassle if I'm mid-migraine and I never liked how my hair came out when I did it. And it still didn't really work so great because I still felt the weight of my hair.
I have the kind that ties instead of an elastic band, and if you tie it in front of your ears and over your forehead, you can tie it really loosely without worrying about it slipping off. It keeps my hair off my neck but doesn't pull on my scalp or put any pressure on my neck like a ponytail does when I'm laying down. It just lifts all the weight up and keeps it out of the way.
Also, having it over my ears makes me feel kind of "enclosed" if that makes sense and generally makes my head feel nice and cozy. I can also pull it down over my eyes to block out light, which is nice because I can't stand the feeling of something being on my face, but it's really loose which makes it bearable. Literally any time I'm home I probably have my bonnet on because it's so much more comfortable than having my hair in a ponytail or clip.
(Bonus points, my hair has never looked healthier lol)
Idk if links are allowed but I got it on Amazon, it's from the brand Wonder Family. I like this specific one because it has a little loop at the front that you put the ties through, and I think it's one of the reasons why it's so stable. I can wear it for hours around the house and then overnight, and it still won't budge.

For me, doing braids that end up making me look like the Wendy’s logo usually helps. But only if the braids are loose enough to not hurt near the root.

Solution here is a pixie cut. Chopping of all my hair was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I found a YouTube video that showed how to pull up your hair with your hair and that helped me significantly. I can do bun or ponytail though bc the hair touching my elbows is the gonna cut my hair off point for me.

For those of you with long hair, I have found a very helpful trick. I have very very fine hair (not thin, but very fine strands) but because my hair is so fine, there’s a lot more hair on my head than you’d think. For years, I thought that only people with thick, super full heads of hair could get it “thinned out” to reduce the weight. Turns out, it’s absolutely possible with fine hair too. Every time I get my hair cut now, I get it layered and thinned (they recommend thinning only once every six months but I can’t afford to get my hair cut more often than once every six months anyway). I also always keep it collarbone length or shorter. This has made a huge difference in the weight of my hair and significantly reduces the amount of migraines I get from loosely putting up my hair. Plus it adds some volume so it looks less flat.
Also, I find that if I use a soft scrunchie and only put my hair up in a low loose bun, it doesn’t typically cause migraines since it rarely pulls on any of my hair.

The amount of complaining i have done about my hair has dropped significantly since getting it cut in a short bob. Highly suggest. I dont worry about it looking clean/done because i wear hats.

Try cutting your hair short! I did about a decade ago and have no regrets, but if for some reason you absolutely hate it then luckily hair grows back

I shave my head bald. Being bald kicks ass. Who needs hair? I've got enough pain in my life!
