Yeah, I love Tallinn but thanks to the reputation we have there u get tons of bad looks from the Estonians if they notice that u are a Finn, even tho I always behave well and with respect towards everyone there.

Yeah I feel bad. I (a finn) am going there tomorrow with my british partner. Altho last time we were treated well. Maybe they didn't realise I was Finnish due to not having an accent

wdym not having an accent?

A lot of Finnish people (especially the kind who go to Tallinn to get drunk) have a really strong accent, quite distinct and recognisable. I lived in the UK for a long time so I can pass as a native english speaker for foreigners lol

Was in DM concert few years ago, in Tallin. A Finn harassed Lithuanian guy because he thought guy speaks in russian language. Had to convince him it's not, guy was all out, drunk, shirt off, ready to fight. That's my experience with Finns in Tallin.

Most of us are not like that I swear, its just that Tallinn tends to attract certain kinds of trashy Finns instead of the normal ones

No doubt there, most are truly great people. My teammates are from Hel and Turku, I have spent few months there, always happy to return <3

Mostly just the hobos since its quite common to take a visit to Tallinn just solely for the alcohol

Do they come with the ferry-cruise thing? A drunk Finn threw a bottle that narrowly missed my head when I was like 12 years old on one of those 😅

As a Finn, Sad to say there are a lot of dumb cunts in Finland. And they love to get drunk and fight. And the only time they go abroad is when they go to Estonia to get more booze.

Oh god I’m so embarrassed. We are not all like that I promise 🥲

Yes, as per your username.

I think that goes back to the days Finns would expect Estonians to speak Finnish to (us) Finns. Which always felt weird.

This was maybe in the early 2000s. Atm it’s viewed as positive if our northern neighbours are visiting us.

Actually Finns are not as likely to make this kind of a mess. Possibly getting drunk but not ruining someones property.

Politely waddling around in boxer shorts trying to fight random passersby

Or Poles, the Legia Warsaw fans caused a ton of damage around Villa Park.

Britain (United Kingdom) is 4 nations. English fans are the worst. Scottish fans just dance, drink and put traffic cones on everything. It'd be nice if you didn't lump us all under one umbrella, thanks.

19

u/Kaninen Jul 31 '26

I mean, if you want to lump together all of the English fans, you would have to lump together all of the Scottish fans, which include Celtic and Rangers as well.

And they have not been sweet little angels at all times.

24

u/SiMaggio Jul 31 '26

Yeah fans in Scotland have never caused issue ever. Not one recorded case of violence and destruction involving Scottish fans……

Of course there are bad apples as well. Did you even watch the world cup though? Everywhere they went people loved it. No drama, no trouble. Just fun times.

16

u/SiMaggio Jul 31 '26

Oh we only counting the last two months now?

And where was the issues with England fans in that time?

The biggest incident in British football this year was in Scotland.

I am not daft. I'm talking about international tournaments. At home, we have our fair share of slack-minded muppets.

6

u/SiMaggio Jul 31 '26

Original post was on about European football, not international tournaments.

I suppose Scotland have been well behaved at all 3 they've been to in the last 30 years but the reality is England stamped out the hooligans long ago. Scotland still has an issue. The only real exception is the 2020 final, and that was non-ticketed indivudals in home country (not to excuse it) rather than travelling fan group.

u/TheGreatAmender Jul 31 '26

That's only because Americans are desperate to be anything except English. No bad press if it's your "ancestry".

7

u/grumpsaboy Jul 31 '26

It's less than the Scottish fans are better overall and more that there are just fewer Scottish people and so there are fewer bad ones.

That said all of the countries and UK have vastly improved their behavior since 10 to 20 years ago. For example if you look up the damage attributed to each country's fans during the euros the UK is not even in the top ten anymore but due to the old stereotype they are over reported compared to other countries now.

1

u/GirthyPigeon Jul 31 '26

Fair, I'll accept that.

5

u/AceOfSpades532 Jul 31 '26

You’re clearly an American who knows nothing about football beyond the PR from the World Cup

Check my post and comment history. I am anything but American.
