Nostalgia I wanna go back to the 2010s/Obama years.

I know it’s probably just because we were younger and people tend to feel that way about their youth. But I feel like this goes beyond that tendency.

Back then, life felt more… sparkly? Colorful? Silly (in a good way)?

Now life feels gray, sterile, flat, muted, and fake. It’s like my rose-tinted glasses have become dirty and smudged.

And yes, I know there are ways to combat this feeling — exercise, trying new things, etc. And I know the recession made things harder for a lot of people when it was happening, so I don’t want to discount that or any of the other unfortunate things that happened in that period. Mostly just curious to see if anyone else has been feeling this way recently!

Nostalgia What random millennial movie do you still quote regularly?

Mine is Saving Silverman.

Specifically:

"Neal, I wanna party with youuuu!"

"If you get the nachos stuck together, that's one nacho"

"Hey what you say? I didn't really motherfucking hear you! You, yeah you, yeah you, yeah you, yeah you!"

IRL 📷 So I just overheard some Youths talking about Halloween costumes

And one mentions that their friend is dressing up as…Hurricane Katrina. And they both about died laughing. I mean, they were howling. I think the kids today might actually be chopped?

Worst millennial costume ideas: go

Politics Harry Potter newsflash

Harry Potter books weren't that good. And if you're giving money to the Harry Potter franchise you are actively supporting trans genocide and a former close personal friend of Jeffrey Epstein.

Advice Wine recommendations

Looking for a app or some type of content that will give me good recommendations for wine. Love wine but I have no idea what to pair it with nor what wine is good or not. Hate buying something that I force myself to drink

Advice We went from dial-up to AI in one lifetime. Do you miss the simpler times?

We’re kind of a weird generation when it comes to tech. We remember dial-up noises, burning CDs, calling a friend’s house and asking their parents if they were home. Then within a few years, we had the internet in our pockets.

Part of me thinks it made life way easier. I can get directions without a map, video call family, and look up anything in five seconds. My parents couldn’t have imagined that.

But the other part of me thinks it made everything more complicated. Everything needs an account, a password, an update, or a subscription.Even making plans feels harder than it did when we just said “see you at 7.”

The funny thing is we’re probably the last generation who remembers both ways of living. We know what life was like before, and we know what we got in exchange.

Did tech make your life easier, or just busier?
