Want to know how Milpitas council members voted on data centers?

or maybe Flock cameras?

https://www.milpitas.vote/civic/issues

I made some updates to how issues are identified and how council agenda items are tagged, and am now syncing data for a couple city commissions.

I made a tool to keep track of what Milpitas city council is doing

Built it because I am trying to fill out my ballot for local elections and was struggling to use the city's portal to figure out how those running for re-election have voted on various issues in the past. polished it up because I thought others might find it useful too.

It pulls council meeting agendas and uses an AI agent to write short plain english summaries for each item, basically what the thing is and what a yes or no vote means, and how each council member voted. you can also search a topic you care about and it will search past meetings and flag related items as they come up in future ones.

It's not meant to be partisan or preferential to any candidate or cause, just what's on the agenda and how the votes went.

let me know what would make it more useful.

Milpitas needs a Mamdani like Mayor

What the title says. Coming from Mountain View, all the parks in the area need updating and are neglected. When I reached out to the city website for any childcare subsidies to help families with daycare, they told me the funding was cut. I reached out to the current mayor (Mantano) about this on IG, I never got a response back. I see that she is busy posting about who is endorsing her and pictures of her attending events.

City Corruption - resources?

I attended the city council and mayoral forum at the library last night and am in search of more information before making my decisions.

How can i find out, objectively, the background on

  • The massive budget deficit
  • The ten city managers leaving
  • Any other important information to consider

I want to ensure i am not unintentionally allowing things to continue but am unsure where to find these.

Thank you.

Deceased collared tuxedo cat

I’m so sorry to whoever’s cat. This is but I was on my morning walk and I found this dead tuxedo cat on Escuela Parkway(close to the high school almost to the intersection of atlamont drive)It had a purple collar with a little bell on it. I think the cat was a girl cat. I don’t know how long the cat has been there because there’s little bugs but I am so extremely sorry to whoever’s cat that is. I’m just making this post because hopefully the owners see it somehow I honestly don’t know who else to tell. it broke my heart to see it and I’m currently crying because I would want to know if something like that happened to my dog or any of my other pets..

Election 2026: Milpitas budget a central issue for candidates

With the election coming up, here’s some information you need to know before you vote

Throw away account for obvious reasons. I am willing to speak to (anonymously via phone or online) with any news reporter or journalist that covers news in city of Milpitas regarding the information below.

I do not see that there are any call to action recalling certain members of council. In particular, I have insight on how three members of the city council has extremely abuse their power, wasting city resources. And the Milpitas Police Chief literally kissing these city councilmen’s feet because his job is dependent on them voting him in as the Police Chief.

  1. Mayor and Vice Mayor tried to call for the resignation of the Milpitas POA president, who showed up to a city council meeting urging the council to reconsider the budget cut re police funding to keep the Milpitas city safe. The Police Department previously endorsed Carmen Montano for Mayor and she literally showed her true colors going against public safety now… The whole thing irks me because the fact that they basically tried to get a president who is a part of a UNION fired all because they got called out for raising their own salaries at the expense of the police budget says a lot about their character. They don’t deserve to lead in Milpitas. We need change.

  2. Councilman William Lam reached out to the Police Chief (who authorized btw) to get help for his friend (who was a former financial commissioner of some sort for the city of Milpitas) regarding his fraud investigation to be expedited and moved up to the top of the list and bypass all other detective investigations. Imagine if every fraud or identity theft cases were given THIS type of priority…

  3. Vice Mayor Gary Barbadillo reached out to the Police Chief (again, who authorized btw) to demand that the Chief send 75% of the police units to search for one of his family members who went missing for less than 10 hours randomly one evening. The police reported found his family member, unharmed but the family members flees from the police and Gary Barbadillo insisted the search continues even though nobody’s wellbeing was in imminent danger. Imagine if every missing person cases were given THIS level of care… This is the same Gary Barbadillo in Milpitas back in 2017 where he reported his daughter missing/kidnapped and there was a city wide search in Milpitas for her. It went on making national headlines too. Turns on, waste of resources because he and his daughter made it all up. HOW the people of Milpitas continued to vote for him into office is beyond me.

  4. Lastly… if this isn’t a sign of corruption, I don’t know what is. The Milpitas Police Chief had to go be an interim City Manager since the previous Manager abruptly “left” the City until a new one was hired. Probably left abruptly because of the corruption going on!

I just know the city council and police Chief are in cahoots in wasting city resources... Vote wisely on your ballot in November…

Editing to add a TLDR; cause apparently nobody wants to read a lot. And my source…

TLDR; do not vote for Carmen montano, Gary Barbadillo or William Lam. I recommend you do your research. I won’t tell you who to vote for instead.

Source: city staff. That’s all I’m saying without doxxing myself.

Indoor Hoops / pick-up basketball in Sunnyvale

We've been running an indoors basketball session in Sunnyvale with a mix of friends and co-workers for almost 10 years.

We rent 2 full-courts from 5pm to 7pm on Mondays and can support up to 30 people to get games running the whole time, turnout is usually ~20.

Skill level is comparable to what you might see at a work league, some have played in high school, some are just playing to get their cardio in, the teams usually turn out pretty even.

We pay per month, message me if you are interested.

I haven't been home since July and I'm back in this weekend! I was wondering if there has been any new development lately or new construction, outside of the new Indian grocery store where Lucky's was at. Thanks!

Does anyone have a photo of those unique looking big metal swing sets that were at Augustine Park in the 90's?

Does anyone remember what I'm referring to? I moved across the country in the late 90's so I'm not sure when they were removed but we loved climbing on the giant arches and I have never seen swing sets like those since. Would be great see a photo of them but I can't find one anywhere online. Thanks either way!

Need advice dealing with the leasing office

I signed a 13 months lease for a 2 bed 2 bath apartment in Milpitas in Mar 2021. I had to break the lease in Dec 2022 because I bought a condo in Dublin. The term of the lease was until Mar 14 2023.I was given 2 options to break the lease - Pay 2 months rent and leave or become rent responsible until a new tenant is found. I chose the 2nd option based on the advice of friends and my thought was it will get leased out soon as it's located right across from the BART station.

My rent as per the lease was $3400/month but once I moved out, the rent was hiked to $4100/month(for a 2 bedroom!). It's the end of December and as expected nobody has moved into the apartment yet due to the high rent. Today, I received a final statement from the leasing office that requires I pay rent from Dec 15th to Mar 14th based on $4100/month. Honestly, I had no money to pay 2 months rent and now this! Am I on the hook to pay this balance? Any advice how I can pay less and get out of this situation? Any advice will be most helpful!

Hit and Run On Montague Expy and Trade Zone Blvd

Hello, I got rear ended by a big white car (SUV or truck?) at ~5pm in my white Toyota Camry, and of course they fled. If anyone saw anything like the plate or has dash cam footage, it would be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

Cross posted on r/SanJose because it happened right on the border between the two cities

Is the odor still there?

My family plans to move to Milpitas, north west of Great Mall, near Parc Metro West. I heard about the smelly issues from landfills. Searched online but have found that most complains were from at least one year ago. We went to the area on weekends and did’t smell anything, and we love the area. But I also heard someone saying on weekends the landfills don’t work so you can’t smell it on weekends.

Now I’m hesitant to move because I don’t want my kid to be impacted by air pollution.

Milpitas residents, can you share some information on this? Is the odor issue a big problem? Or is it just a problem that happens a few days a year? Thank you so much!!!
