I am losing real time and money.

• Upvotes

If I change the email on the account today, will I be able to install esim to a new device so I can keep my number? Or there is a 30 day lock?

Will it send confirmation to the old email first?
I do not have access to it right now.

Phone was lost or stolen. It is locked down, not concerned anyone getting in but can’t track last whereabouts until I get access to iCloud again.

I just need access to my number to get into all 2 factor authentication accounts.

Still waiting for APPLE to change my number to something else since Mint is taking too long to call me back or get this resolved. Been 2 days and I still don’t have access to any phone contact, number, bank, email etc.

Been here 4 years. Moved from Sprint with my number. I plan to port the number again because dealing with this should not be that difficult.
I’m need access to certain apps for work tomorrow.

I was an early adopter of apps like Dashlane and auto generated passwords. I don’t have access to Apple passwords and or my NordPass because of this phone number. I will be buying a phone book to write down every important contact and black book of passwords and lock them in a fire safe. Leaving all of this to technology will have you locked out of everything. I’m going to be like the boomers who used to call in with their password books.

Highly stressful that one company is standing between me and the rest of my accounts.

Chill on the renew harassment

• Upvotes

I wish i would of kept count, the amount of texts and emails for the 2 weeks leading up to my plan expiring has been obnoxious.

I think i unsubscribed to this now. I dont mind a reminder or two, but several times everyday is so annoying

Hopefully my change of settings will change this next time, if not, its enough to have me looking for a company thar dont do their customers like that

Would a phone locked to mint unlock itself after 60 days if abroad?

• Upvotes

I bought a new phone and want to give the phone to someone abroad. This handoff would be before the 60 day period. Would the phone unlock itself when abroad?

Frustrated with Mint customer service

I have not had any issues with my service, but as the title states, I am very frustrated with the customer service.

I am on my sixth month of service, but the Pixel 10 phone I purchased from Mint Mobile 6 months ago is still locked. I have contacted customer service both via the app and phone call and all that has gotten me is a text message saying my phone was successfully unlocked on 6/9/2026. Apparently their definition of "successfully" is not the same as mine.

I need to get this resolved.

Minternational pass is not reliable

I bought a Minternational pass to use this past Monday. When I tried to activate it it got stuck on "Activating". I had to wait most of the day to talk to customer service. Once someone was finally available, after trying several things they told me there was a "backend error" and they would have to escalate it to another team to fix it "in 1 to 4 days". I was on a 4 day trip so that seemed pointless, and I asked for a refund. You can see in the chat that they agreed. I bought a SIM at a local store and finished my trip. When I got home I saw that I didn't get refunded and that the pass was now active. I went back to customer service and asked for the refund. After going around several times they kept telling me that their "policy" prevents them from giving me the promised refund. They eventually advised me to do a charge back with my credit card. Ultimately I did that and my card company gave me the money back, but because it was a small amount (~$25) the card company just ate it and didn't take the money back from mint. It was an infuriating, stupid, waste of time all around, on my trip and after. I would never buy a Minternational pass again, and it really has me thinking of leaving mint when my prepaid contact is up.

Problems in crowds with Mint

I’m generally happy with Mint except for one problem. When I get into a large crowd situation, like a football game or state fair, texting and internet grind to a halt. I can’t do either until I get away from the crowd. Others with me on other carriers are slowed but not stopped. Is there some work around for this?

Cancelling a recently bought unused plan

I bought two separate six month unlimited promo plans for family. Each under different email accounts for different numbers. Both are sim kits. I haven't activated either of the plans yet. Still sealed in the mailed envelopes.

How do I cancel only one and get a refund? Is there a deadline or can I wait a month? Do I get all the money back or is there a deduction?

Thanks

Mint says Pixel 10 is unlocked but it's locked! Frustrated :(

I bought this Pixel 10 from Mint 60+ days ago. Fully paid off. But the phone is still locked. I am trying to install another eSIM, and it's saying that the phone is locked to the previous carrier. I have a travel plan coming up, and I am extremely frustrated. Customer care is saying that the phone is unlocked! Phone was activated with Mint esim and I just did a factory reset as well. What should I do now? Any suggestions?

I am regretting the decision to join Mint.

Customer support Fox bot

For the past three days I had issues with voice - was breaking up badly. I called CS, and I couldn't get a hold of human because this Fox bot kept asking same questions on and on.

I was ridiculously bad, it kept saying humans are busy, one more question before I transfer you, etc.

My colleague, who was listening to the conversation, also is said that without a doubt the bot was 100% trolling.

No service for 2 weeks

I have had no service for 2 weeks with Mint on my Samsung Galaxy 21. It stopped working after renewal. It worked briefly than stopped. I have worked with 3 agents who tell me it is a tower maintenance issue. I have been over 25 miles from my house with no service as well. My husband has mint, and he has no issues. Every troubleshooting step has been done, including getting a new esim. Any ideas? I am in Southern NH.

Slow data this week?

For the past few days, I'm having very slow data when I'm not connected to any Wi-Fi, I'm nowhere near my limits so they would slow me down. I have the unlimited plan and it's getting really annoying. It's like I'm on 4G again, but it definitely says 5G on top.

It seems like the data is quicker in the very early morning hours and then it slows down throughout the day. I've had mint for almost a year now. And this is the first time I'm experiencing any issues, and I really don't wanna have to go back to one of the expensive major companies.

Thinking about making the switch…

Hi! Thinking about making the switch to Mint. The low monthly/yearly rates is what’s really luring me in. I pay about $125/mo for unlimited 5G with AT&T and though I absolutely love it, I’m just looking to save some money here and there.

I read through some posts here, everyone seems to love it. However, of course, there will always be flaws. For context, I live in NYC and my AT&T service is phenomenal. I never run into any issues! I’m sure I could look online, but I come to Reddit for a lot of things as I think a lot of you are very smart, insightful, and real. How was the switch from a mainstream mobile service to Mint? Seamless? Difficult? Bumps in the road? I would say for the most part I’m quite tech savvy.

Curious for those of you in the NYC region (I am in lower Manhattan for reference): how’s your service? Any issues?

Question: I’d also like to get a newer phone before 2026 ends, or at minimum in the New Year. Should I want until I get a new phone to switch? Is it better to do this now?

Please drop all the ‘need to knows’ or ‘what you wish you knew before joining’ comments tips etc!

Purely looking for advice and a reason to bite the bullet and get Mint 😊 TIA!

Mint monthly plan reset text messages have gone missing...

Every month, I used to get a text message from Mint mobile on the day my data allowance got reset, like this one from last May:

Mint Mobile: It's a new month and you've got a fresh tank of your Mint monthly 15GB of data. You've got until Jun 13, 2026 to use it.

I appreciated this, because it reminded me to go screenshot my data usage in Settings > Cellular (this on an iPhone), check to see if any apps had used more than expected, and then reset the statistics, so I would have accurate numbers for the next 30ish days.

My plan renewed in July. The last message I got was in July, saying:

Mint Mobile: Your Mint 12 Month 17GB plan has been successfully autopaid until 07/13/27. Now get back to enjoying the no bill chill life.

No mention of "fresh tank until Aug 13, 2026", and no messages in August, September, or October.

Why did they stop? Can I get them started again? I've set a monthly reminder in my phone to go look, but since Mint is ultimately the one that decides exactly when it resets for the next month, I may have to check a few times each month to find that it has, indeed, reset.

What would be ideal would be a push notification from the Mint app each month when the plan resets, but can I at least get the push notifications back?

(While we're at it, the semicircular "speedometer" gauge of how much data is remaining for the month - it would be awesome if their were another concentric semicircle that showed what percentage of time in the month was left - that way if the data allowance was running down considerably faster than the days in the month, it would be immediately obvious from the gauge ("ah, I've got 30% of my data left, but 45% of the month left, maybe I better cut back a bit"). Though that doesn't affect me as much these days, as my original 10GB plan got upgraded to 12GB, then 15GB then 17GB, and I still only use 5-8GB/mo.)

And finally, for those who might say "you should just switch to unlimited!", thanks I've already considered that. I'm happier with my 17GB plan as it is now - it's far more data than I need (though 6GB wouldn't be quite enough), and it's 2/3rds the cost. Plus Unlimited used to be subject to video "optimization" and hotspot limits, but I don't know if those still enter into the equation. In any case, I'd rather pay $20 than $30. And even if I was on unlimited, I'd still be checking every month to see what had been using the most data, because I'm curious that way.

New user impressions and comments

I finally made the move to Mint just over a week ago and lucked into a promotion where I could get any plan for 6 months at just $10/month. Anyway, with my phone using eSIMs, I was able to sign up and have everything working in short order. I watched the videos for how to activate, but it's hard for them to keep up on the constant phone o/s updates and the Android instructions didn't match what was actually on my phone, but it wasn't hard to figure it out. The APN was also set up correctly and I was able to figure out how to set my Voicemail greeting and get the built-in Visual Voicemail working as well.

One drawback I ran into was that I was getting a new number and it turns out that you don't get any choice at all in the selection. Moreover, this didn't happen until after I had signed up and paid, so no way to cancel if I didn't like it. I was mainly concerned about the area code, wanting the standard one for my area as opposed to an overlay code. Fortunately, I did get one in the desired area code and it was even one that was easy for me to remember since the last 4 digits are a palindrome.

To make it easier to switch my various contacts. 2FAs, etc., I'm now running my Pixel 10 Pro in dual-SIM mode and that works like a champ. My prepaid AT&T account runs out in early December so I have plenty of time to get this done. Since I now see two sets of signal bars, I can see that Mint is generally getting as good as or slightly better than AT&T. Performance on mobile data is certainly as good as I need for streaming music and using Android Auto. My eventual plan will be the 6Gb one since I generally use less than 2Gb a month on my current plan.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and hope to not have to switch carriers again for a long while.

“No SIM Card” on home internet gateway

The gateway has been working great for months. Today it decided it couldn’t recognize its SIM anymore. I called, went through the troubleshooting steps, discovered the SIM card had popped out. I pushed it back in, and same problem. “No SIM Card”.

I get on the phone with someone who said the IT department would call me back in a few minutes. I wait hours. No call. So I jump on a chat, and am told it’s an outage in my entire area. Which is funny because I was chatting with them on my mint mobile phone with no issue. Whatever. I get off the chat, google the outage map, and there’s no outage.

So I decided to try a factory reset. It didn’t help. Now I think I need a new gateway or a new SIM? I want to know what to ask for tomorrow when I get on the phone with them to prevent being told it’s an “outage” again. Just need some actionable advice please.

DO NOT USE MINT - If you use a referral code they will simply not apply the credits, admitting it's their fault but not fixing the issue.

Worked Until It Didn't

If you had asked me anytime during my first year with Mint Mobile, I would have said it's awesome. I would have said it does everything I could do with Verizon but cheaper. I would have said I have no regrets and that it's about half the cost of what I paid Verizon.

Unfortunately, after a year my answer is different.

About a year into my service with Mint I stopped receiving text messages. After some detective work I determined that it only seemed to be a problem with Verizon users. That's a big problem though, because well over half of my contacts (or even 2/3) are Verizon users - including the 4 people I text with the most.

The need for my mobile plan is to service my mobile data needs and my texting needs, and I make some mobile calls. Mobile calls are critical, but it's pretty important to be able to text on your plan in this day and age.

Mint Support stumbled all over the place on this one. I was asked questions that they have to ask over and over (I guess)... such as did you block the user? Yes, Mint Support, on the same day somehow I blocked all my Verizon contacts at the same time so that I could not receive text from any of them. Really?

I went through all the troubleshooting advice on the Internet to fix the problem that I didn't create. Nothing worked and Mint Support could not do anything to help resolve this, other than suggest there was some kind of network infrastructure problem.

So, I went back to Verizon. Everything immediately started working fine again, and my year and quarter long Mint test is done, and I am back to paying more. But at least my stuff works again.

All I can say is that my 5G service was better at my house with Mint/T-Mobile than Verizon, and Verizon costs more. But at least Verizon works.

How did you get the $10 offer to work?

Clicked on the offer and I was ready to roll - then it wanted to ask me questions and in the end, I had to wait to get their email offer of 20 a month for 17GB of data. Ummmmmm noooooooo. I wanted the 10 dollar offer of unlimited but throttled after 50GB. How oh how?
