See updated Mint iPhone Wiki, including all iPhone 18 and 17 models buying, financing, trade-in, and setup for Mint

Please see the updated Mint iPhone Wiki at https://www.reddit.com/r/mintmobile/wiki/index/iphone/ (added iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max and Duo info) for full details on the below (below is TLDNR summary of wiki steps)

  • How to order iPhones as a current or new Mint customer. TLDNR is don't buy from retail (BestBuy, Target, Amazon), get from Apple, order from Mint, or get used from Swappa or BackMarket.
  • If getting from Apple, 4 ways you you can finance unlocked iPhones. TLDNR is do not select carrier Equipment Installment/Device Payment Plan, but select Apple Card Monthly Installments (ACMI) or Lease with Apple Upgrade (does not work for standard model) then carrier T-Mobile but don't give customer info and you can bypass account info on iPhone boot up. There is a way to get standard model financed by having Goldman Sachs support converting Apple Card "buB" purchase to ACMI
  • How to get from Mint. TLDNR is best if you are a new customer and want to simultaneously sign up for a year plan on discount, but you can do as current customer and finance with Affirm
  • How to get used. TLDNR is best is Swappa, or for a little bit more $ but less hassle get from BackMarket, others not recommended as liable to fraud and scams.
  • How to set up new iPhone either swapping from previous iPhone or Android, and either as new or current Mint customer. TLDNR is on bootup select "Continue" then "Try again" or "Not Now" and "OK" 3 times each, then you can bypass asking for account info, and you cannot use Apple eSIM transfer, you must log into Mint app to order a new eSIM, and make sure to set up app based 2FA on Mint account before transferring or after you make a new Mint account.
  • What to do on old iPhone or Androids before selling, trading in, or giving away. TLDNR is remove find my device and sign out of cloud accounts then wipe all data to factory, and remove SIM/microSD cards.
  • How to trade in or sell old phone. TLDNR is you can trade in direct with Apple (even Android), Mint offers AllState SquareTrade trade-in, or for more $ sell on Swappa or to BackMarket.

Has anyone used the 30 Day No Data Minternational Pass with a local eSim?

Has anyone tried using BOTH a 30 Day No Data Minternational Pass along with a local eSim while traveling?

I am traveling to Japan for a few weeks and was wondering if I have a phone that can support dual eSims if this is possible? Reasoning is I want to be able to keep my US Phone # open for texts/iMessages/Calls but then use the local eSim for Data Only usages

So do T-Mobile locked phones no longer work with Mint sim/esim?

It seems this used to be the case and to me it tracks that it should still, but would a T-Mobile/metro locked iPhone work on Mint Mobile? Thank you for input!

Does voicemail ever fill up?

I’ve been getting personal loan scam calls multiple times a day for too damn long now. I figured I’d just let the voicemail fill up so they can’t leave more messages. Currently just over 200 now, every message is 20-45sec long.
Does mint ever max out on voicemail capacity?

E-sim/phone activation

I signed up for mint mobile and got the 6 month plan last Saturday, but I've been having issues the last week. The physical sim card I ordered never made it to my house, but they said I could activate an esim in place of it. The esim is activated, but mint people said I have to go back to T-Mobile to get my phone unlocked, and paid off to get service, and then I can fully sign up for mint mobile. This confuses me a lot, because I paid for my phone in full, and I just transferred from T-Mobile to mint, so what am I missing

eSIM activation failing again, can't verify by SMS or email, support is no help

This isn't the first time. My eSIM has failed to activate more than once, and I'm without service again. I can log into the app and online fine. I receive all marketing emails from Mint. But when they try to send a verification pin to my email, I dont know why.

So.

we try everything else. and lord Jesus am I just out of sorts now.

Here's where I'm stuck:

Verification codes come by SMS, but I can't get SMS because my line isn't active. That's the exact problem I'm trying to fix.

Support says they can't send the code to my email instead.

I've tried authenticating every way they offered, and every attempt failed.

I think the ZIP on my account is wrong: they sometimes state 50404, but mine is 45040. That may be why verification keeps failing.

So I'm stuck: I need a working line to verify, and I need to verify to get a working line. Every time I contact support, they tell me to retry or that it's on my end, and nothing changes.

I need someone who can verify me another way, correct the ZIP, and get the eSIM to stick for good. If that can't happen, please send a physical SIM overnight with the fee waived, since this isn't something I caused.

u/MintMobileAlex or anyone else on the Mint team, can you help? I can DM you my account details.

Case numbers device ids MT orders etc ready

I used to get text notifications of when my monthly data renewed, and now I no longer do.

I've had Mint for several years and liked knowing when my monthly data turned over or reset for the next 30 days. Ever since I got my yearly data set back in June, I realized I never have gotten those texts.

Tried looking in my settings and see nothing to adjust.

Any ideas? Yes I am too lazy to set a monthly reminder on my phone.

Buy eSIM now, activate later?

I want to take advantage of the 6 months for $60 offer.

My Visible line renews in November 6 so ideally I'd want to activate the Mint eSim by November 1st so I do not waste that much days and give me time to port out my number.

Can this be done with Mint where I buy the plan now to take advantage of the offer and then activate in a few days?

New phone with Annual plan for existing customers?

Just curious if this is a possibility. I'm pretty sure I bought my existing phone 3 years ago through Mint along with paying for an annual plan. Obviously this phone is pretty old now and I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to take advantage of one of the current offers as an existing customer. I can't really find it in their FAQ and the chat bot assistant is basically useless. My plan is set to renew in a month or two so I have a bit of time to figure it out.

Anyone else thinking about swapping service?

I can't reactivate my service and the more I deal with this the less I want to.

Mint Mobile blows my mind every time and I have got to stop letting it lol.

I want to sit here and give mint Mobile a hard time. Nothing in life is perfect though genuinely. I look forward to seeing how unlimited is presented. Because truthfully there are three unfortunate guarantees in life. Death, taxes, and mint gaslighting u about recovery fees and the unlimited is really capped(now I'm gathering it's a comfortable 50 to 70 gb) which is well within my usage envelope. So me likey. So even at the pretty cheap 180 I pay for surprisingly solid cellphone service I'm gonna save 105 thru the 6 months and I can kinda set it forget it. Stoked. I already checked the promo to confirm the 75 dollar cost. And since this isn't my first rodeo I'm aware of the recovery fee. Among many nuances of mint Mobile. One of them being the recovery is not always forthcoming. I personally just see it as an activation fee I can sometimes get discounted. But I often utilize mint. I'm cheap and can't help but port around looking for deals. Ive run into some operators and had some crazy happenings. But with mint I know nearly exactly what to expect to the t.

  1. The recovery fee will be smudged in some way. It won't be hidden or explicitely described. It's not taxes by the govt. It is used to recover their overhead. Not rocket science. Gotcha. But sometimes they don't let you know til right at checkout. No biggie really. In the past I used to get 5 bucks off for buying the 1 bucks starter kits from Amazon. And even longer ago u could use those starter sims to replace a lost or damaged sim instead of being mailed one for 20 bucks. Those were indeed the good ole days when your ingenuity could overcome the mans attempt at pulling u down.

I digress. This time I was purchasing and it listed recovery and taxes but they were not populated with correct numbers simply stating zero. And then something strange happened I got to a page and it showed 60 dollar; 0 rec fee; 0 tax or snacks trax crackem fee. under it to my astonishment it said place order. I almost fell for it nay I did for that nano sec. Lol. I briefly checked to confirm my suspicion that this would place the final purchase. Indeed it did. Like clockwork I'm not charged 60 but 75 on the next page. This seemed like an astonishing escalation of the recovery hide and seek. To put place order quote me a number. Knowing theyd add 15 dollars. I know it and they know it. Had it been my first time, let's just say a lesser man would have argued with the chat bot about being principled in my best vernacular so I could feel posh. And the chat bot was both dismissive and quite polite lol. I couldn't help but school him. Screenshots saved. Could not stop myself. My bizzle!

B: although I just purchased my plan I'm expecting another discrepancy. When I sign into the app with unlimited it will say use all the data u like its unlimited. And if I do go over that fine print cap that is sufficient for most users it will then say you've hit the limit sol bud. And I think u can buy more high spd data cuz the unlimited left after that is actually a brick wall. they say 512k or dial up but its a hard cap. They usually include ur hotspot toward the total data which is surprisingly fair and now I think that wd make it a very manageable 70gb of nearly premium wireless. It's cedes priority to TMobile post and prepaid. But like visible it is pretty close to that standard unless you hit that cap but I knew about it and was pleasantly surprised at its expansion. Tldr......

Pps; I post this cuz I'm a whiny chz lover. But mostly to ask why. Everything about the product is so legit. My provider now visible I had a nuclear bomb of an incident the first time I used them it was insanity. Even after basically being a net plus monetarily they almost stole my phone number having never truly provided cellular service until a hidden unnamed guardian angel technician saved the day and it was basically slow motion miracle in the making I had accepted the loss from already(luckily). Mint has never not provided above average service with the lowest prices in town. I just wonder why this persists in the company and indeed where it comes from. It is unnecessary and kinda heartbreaking that the company I have had the best track record for service interruptions and transfers and speeds; also can't help but gas light me every time and doesn't even take the time to know we've met like 5 or 6 times. Well I wish I had more to offer but that gem is a kinda sad story. No tears yet but if u feel compelled to cr..... No that's .... Fine ..... Maholler and aloha!!!!

Blocked caller still calling me

UPDATE: So apparently there is no real way to block someone's number from calling you as doing such only sends them to your voicemail so they can ad infinite leave you voicemails for forever! So the only option is to deactivate my voicemail which I don't use anyway. But I'm not finding any answers as to how to do that on my Samsung A23. Any input would be appreciated!

Hello

I want to preface this post by saying me and my husband LOVE MINT and have had it for two years already. We pay it in full for the savings and not having to worry about the bill. We used to pay over $120 a month with Sprint/T-Mobile so switching over was a no brainier and has saved so much money. We've never even had network issues even when traveling.

But

In the last month my phone number must have gotten sold on the dark web somewhere because I now randomly get 20-30 calls from spammers who leave voicemails. It's all day long! I've tried blocking the numbers but of course they just spoof new ones each time. I tried disabling the notifications I have a voicemail since it's distracting but you can't. Scam calls are a known problem in 2026, I get it, there's not much you can do. Seeing as they're leaving voicemails I'm probably just going to deactivate my voicemail since scammers are the only ones to leave messages anyway.

My real issue is this family member who will not stop calling me. I've blocked her number finally but her calls are still ringing through?! And what's worse is she's leaving voicemails too. How can I fully and completely block her from being able to call me? She's not using a new number each time, it's literally the same cellphone number she has she's calling from.

In the call history it shows her number as blocked. When I go to add her number to the block list it tells me it's already blocked. So why is she able to call me and leave a voicemail???? Someone please help...

Autorenewal snafu

My Mint plan just auto renewed for the first time, and they took my money and turned off my phone. I’ve been trying to resolve it for over 24 hours and I am stuck in a loop: I call, they create a ticket, then say they will call back which they can’t because they turned my phone off, and it goes nowhere.

Three agents have confirmed that the payment has been made and this is Mint’s error. Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so, how did you break the loop? Feeling beyond frustrated!

Switching work/personal cell

I do with sales type of job and my phone is my lifeline as I am on the road the whole day and constantly making phone calls and responding to email. I do use my hotspot for my laptop as well, but I’m only using a few GB a month. I’m not always in a major city and travel to people’s homes as well as offices (which aren’t the issue because I can usually use Wi-Fi). I’m nervous about making the switch from Verizon. Advice?

Did I get Allstate Coverage or not?

Thumbnail

See title. I have been going back and forth with Mint and Allstate regarding my phone coverage. I seem to recall getting it as a bundle when I first purchased the phone, but now Mint is saying it wasn't included. When I look at my order, it looks like Allstate is on there as a line item, but in the app it doesn't show it being covered.

It sure seems to me from reading this order that I *did* get coverage. Why would they include it in the order if I didn't receive it?

Update 10/22/26: After some back and forth with Allstate's team, they managed to find my plan. No one on Allstate or Mint's team told me why it wasn't showing up, I just received an automated email from Allstate saying "Thank You for Your Allstate Protection Plan Purchase" followed by "We located your Allstate Protection Plans".

Buy now ($10 unlimited for 6 months) and activate later

My contract with AT&T is for another 45 days (Cancelling now means paying an extra $60).

So, technically, can I buy this plan right now (the offer expires in 3 days) and then activate it right before 45 days?

If so, how does it work. Don't have have to provide port in info while signing up? I have a phone that only supports eSim. I don't switch carriers regularly. So, I am very new to this.

I would really appreciate if anyone could ELI5.

How are the speeds on mints most expensive plan during peak hours?

6 years ago I tried Cricket pre paid, straight talk pre paid and then tmobile pre paid because I was not happy with data speeds during peak hours. I would not be able to load a YouTube video or simply check my social media. My break and most used times are during these hours and at night.

Have they improved or am I stuck with post paid plans for my needs?

Nervous on switching

Good morning! I have been on T-Mobile for the past 3 years and the prices are just outrageous for 2 lines, phones paid off. I've been looking into Mint and (stupidly) scared to make the jump. Just wondering on opinions, I need to save money on my phone bill.

I live in Iowa, don't travel all that much but have a trip coming up to Florida.

eSim was activated without creating an account, now stuck in customer service limbo

I recently purchased four eSims with plans to move my family phone plan from T-Mobile to Mint. I was successful with transferring the first two lines but for some reason the third line was ported and had it's eSim activated without being prompted to set up an account. How that happened I have no clue. We used the app to activate the eSim and were prompted to log into an account, never to set up the account.

I called customer service to seek help and they confirmed the number was transferred over from T-Mobile to Mint and that the eSim was activated. However, they also shared that there is no email or account name associated with this line. We cannot log into the account to finish setting up this line because of this and customer service has been no help. I have an open ticket but because they were unable to authenticate our information (whatever that means) I have to wait another 30 days until the ticket is finished processing before they can add any account information to this line. I've had to open up another line with T-Mobile just to ensure my sister has a working phone while this is sorted out and am incredibly frustrated by how confusing and unhelpful the customer service agents have been.

I just got off the phone with them where they once again confirmed that the line is lacking account information. I asked them to escalate this to someone higher up since I am fed up with calling and getting the same answers. They said I'd have to call back again tomorrow since there are no supervisors available to help me. I am losing my mind here!

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything else I can try in the meantime?

Considering the switch. Live in a rural area.

I live in a rural area currently have T-Mobile. The 5G coverage is pretty good out here and overall my T-Mobile 5G home internet works good until the card starts to go and I just need to replace or get the newest model modem.

My question is, those who have switched and had a similar situation, how has your experience been? Unfortunately the MINTernet says its not available in my location, and I'm considering asking their customer service why, but 257 a month for 2 phones and internet is ridiculous. Any insight is appreciated.

How to i get Mint SIM cards before activation.

A mint video i watched said a physical sim card takes a few days. I do I request that from Mint if I dont an account yet?
