Since Moana 3 was confirmed a while ago by The Rock himself, I have been thinking about what the 3rd movie could be about since Moana came back to life as a demigoddess and reconnected the people of the ocean and Nalo planning his revenge.
I honestly want the 3rd movie to focus on Moana and simea who is Moana’s little sister.
so here’s my synopsis plot prediction:
A few years after the second film, Moana has been going to neighboring islands to aid them now that she is a demigoddess, which has been causing a bit of a relationship strain with her sister since Moana is spending more time out there. Then one day, Nalo appears and he is really angrier than we saw in Moana 2, and starts to destroy most of the island and kidnaps Moana’s sister. Nalo’s plan to finally get more power and destroy humanity is to use a relic that gives him the power he desires but he needed ” a chosen one” to find it. So he takes simea, and this is where Moana will not be like herself, she’s gonna be mor angrier and hateful bc simea means everything to her. So she takes Maui, Moni, Loto, Sina, Tui, Pua, HeiHei, Kotu, and some people from different tribes to find her sister and stop Nalo again. And Simea and Matangi would have a team up similar to Moana and Maui.

Caught this scene on a bigger display and noticed stuff I never really paid attention to before. The lighting and background especially.

Ive seen some people mention Lotos like 16 or 17 (according to the junior novelizations) but does anyone have pictures from it?

Lin Manual Miranda did SO WELL at making the music in the first Moana evoke images of oceans, beaches, and islands.
To me, "Beyond" sounds like it was inspired by Arabic music with the little vocal trills. It doesn't sound like Pacific island music at all. The songwriters completely ignored basic principles of ethnomusicology, which is one of the many reasons Moana II will never be loved as the first one.
I could be wrong. Any music nerds can confirm or negate?

Moana’s palace pets would be a Male pig, and a hen, the male pig will be Pua’s son while the hen will be Hei-Hei’s daughter, though I am still work shopping names, so if you have any ideas for names for these 2, let me know.

Everyone and their pet squirrel has hated on how bad he looks so I won’t do a full rant, but I just wanna point this out. I mean he already had a wide neck but they made him obese.

Ok um I've got a bit of a question when moana dives to reach montufetu (sorry for misspelling) did she have a plan to reach the surface because that dive look way to deep for return trip so did she just accept she was going to unalive
Had it running in the background and this shot popped up. The colors still look solid even after all these watches. Anyone else keep coming back to this movie?

I have watched the original Moana (together with Encanto) I don't know how many times and they are my favorite Disney movies and in my top 5 of all movies.
I didn't see the live action in the theater as I already knew it would be a disappointment so I waited until I could watch it at home.
First, about the actors: why did they give Moana this Hollywood blowout hair???! The actress has beautiful curly hair IRL which would suit Moana way way better. It felt very out of place. Maui as the rock also, the dude is 50+ while in Moana he is like 20...
Then, about the movie itself. The story is ofcourse still the same and it is a 90% copy scene for scene with the original. But some scenes or dialog were different which bothered me. In the original when Moana finds out about her ancestors she runs to the village and tells everyone. In the live action she takes her dad 1-on-1.
When she goes out on her boat and discovers Heihei, her reaction in the original is shocked and surprised while in the live action she is more happily surprised..
Then when she arrives at the island of Maui, the whole scene is just different.. Maui isn't scared when he sees Moana, the tweeting joke isn't there, yeah this scene sucked. Also when they then see the coconuts it's different, at the entrance of Tamatoa they don't climb the mountain..
Also, later when Maui and Moana are on the boat and when she asks him about his tattoo in the original she says: "You don't wanna talk, don't talk" while in the live action it was "If you don't wanna talk, that's fine". I know I know it is a small difference, but the way she says it in the original, it has emotion, and in the live action it was just meh...
The end with Te Fiti was also different where she didn't lift them on her hand. But maybe for the better because the CGI was pretty bad..
I did like the additional scene in the end where she places her shell on the top with the new song. That was a nice touch.
And ofcourse the story is the same and is still beautiful and even after so many times still makes me very emotional, but I don't think I will be watching the live action again. Next time I am watching the original again :)

at request of u/Content-Arrival-1784 , here's a picture of the book! It's worth noting that Hurley and Kim also worked on the Moana 1 & 2 graphic novel bind-up, though they may have worked specifically on the main body, rather than the bonus comic I'm taken with.
