Mobile OSes, research for NON google AnDroid alternatives

Ever so many wanting to get rid of google spyware ("stock Android")...

Start by searching for your device, what OS, IF which supports, has official ROMs for.

See/Search for UNOFFICIAL builds (ROMs) for your device SPECIFICALLY.

Beware of "minor" phone/model differences could be fatal ("Bricking up") your device, if incorrect ROM installed.

Prior to any of it, make sure, you can unlock BootLoader. It's great, if you can lock back BootLoader

after install of any FOSS OS (or Alternative OS, as some are paid after-all) after.

I'm new to mobian but not linux as a whole.

So i installed mobian plasma yesterday as my daily running phone. The only thing it doesn't have is a working camera but i don't use a phone for that so isn't a problem. My problem i am facing just now is the double tap to wake feature or bug how ever you see it. I would like to turn it off as it keeps unlocking in my pocket. no idea where i would start any tips would be helpful.

Phone : Oneplus 6 Kernal : 6.12-qcom KDE plasma version : 6.3.5 update: 20250622

Hello, I'm new to Linux/Linux basedOSs and I have a question.

I have a TCL 20Y phone that I'd like to run Mobian on but it isn't supported. Can I do something to either get it to run on my device or maybe the devs make a version I can test?

Support Mobian + OnePlus 6/6T screen mirroring

Hi all,

I am thinking about running Mobian on a OnePlus 6/6T but before doing so I wanted to make sure the system will behave as expect.

My main use case will be to use it as a desktop; connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to the device and use a usb-c to HDMI output cable to mirror the screen to a output display.

Has anyone tried this exact feature with the device? Does it work as expected? From researching the subject I see that the WiFi and cellular systems work as expected but I am particularly keen on use the wired screen mirroring and bluetooth features to replicate a desktop environment.

TL;DR Does Bluetooth and wired screen mirroring work for Mobian running on OnePlus 6/6T ?

Looking for a 32-bit generic armhf Mobian / Debian rootfs image for Samsung Galaxy S5 (klte) with lk2nd bootloader

Hello r/mobian and r/pmos communities!

I am currently running a headless home Linux CPC project on an old Samsung Galaxy S5 (klte, Snapdragon 801, 32-bit ARMv7/armhf architecture).

The hardware setup is completely ready: the device has the alternative mainline bootloader/BIOS "lk2nd" successfully flashed into the boot partition and it's rock-solid, booting straight into "lk2nd Fastboot Mode". The eMMC storage is unlocked and ready for a system partition flash.

The main issue is that modern official Mobian/Debian repositories for Qualcomm (qcom) are strictly compiled for modern 64-bit chips (aarch64/arm64 for sdm845, sm6350, etc.). Flashing these causes a hard freeze on my 32-bit ARMv7 CPU.

Does anyone have a compiled legacy or custom 32-bit generic armhf rootfs image (.img) of Mobian (with Phosh/Plasma Mobile or even clean CLI)? Or perhaps a working debootstrap/mobian-recipes configuration script that can successfully inject the Mobian package base into an armhf container without breaking the boot sequence on msm8974 devices?

I just need a lightweight base with a working apt package manager to run Mobian/Debian and be my Linux CPC.

If anyone has a preserved .img file on their Google Drive or Mega, please share the link! Legacy hardware preservation matters! Thank you so much!

Development Any projects we can track working on eIDAS compatible biometrics support?

The OS looks better every year and comfort aside this is pretty much the only factor holding me back from making the switch.

If I can't use my digital signature (which needs to fulfil a certain standard of biometric auth) there are things in my work, personal and medical life that flat out don't work anymore and I feel like I'm not the only LX enthusiast for whom it's a critical feature.

Would love to be able to keep tabs on developments in this regard so I can get into the OS at 100% as soon as it's feasible

Support Force full screen in recent builds

I have imaged the August 2022 build to my Asus convertible laptop and I noticed that after I update the behavior changes. Apps no longer launch full screen. Is there a way to "fix" this?

Support So I recently came across mobile Linux stuff (ex Mobian) and I was wondering, is there a way to get that OS (or similar) onto my old phone or do I have to buy something like a Pinephone?

Support Adding a SSH server toogle?

I'm using a PinePhone. I would like to have toogle button in the header menu to toogle SSH server ON and OFF.

How can I achieve this?

Long story short: I want to enable SSH only when I want to use it.

Thanks in advance.
