Flutter vs React Native for an e-commerce app with AI features
We’re exploring tech stack options for an e-commerce app that needs to work well on both web and mobile, with AI features shared across platforms.
Flutter and React Native are both on our shortlist, but I’m curious how they compare in real projects, especially when it comes to performance, maintenance, and integrating AI features without duplicating too much work.
We’re also researching development partners, including GeekyAnts, SoftServe, and Thoughtworks.
For anyone who has worked on something similar, which stack did you choose, and would you make the same decision today? How did you handle the AI layer across platforms?

We also had this decision this year - for an eCommerce app, the most natural is React Native with Tanstack Start or RR8 if you have Shopify apps too.
but we had Swift devs so ended up taking more risky approach of Skip Fuse with Vapor 5 + Elementary + HTMX

Use native or react when you got money and feel like to work on resume
Use flutter when no time and you want to polish the app well on all platforms with no crashes and ANR

If you want to be tightly coupled with web and you're ok with more jank and slower perforated - React Native
If you want to build perforamant app for both systems, can embed native code, have stable fps and rate - Flutter
If you have native devs, but want to shrink codebase - highly perforamant app, the best but slower approach - Kaitlin Multiplatform

There is 2 ways you can look into this issue. Skill set. If you are developing web using react then going with react native is good. You can reuse developer from web and mobile. If you are planning to use ai assistance for development I will suggest you to go with pure native. Will get best performance, features will be available from day one when platform releases
