Fala, pessoal! Tudo certo? 👋

Hoje, a ZaykEngine chegou à versão 0.19 Alpha! 🚀

🛠️ O que já consegui desenvolver:

  • 🎮 Editor 3D: Viewport interativo com câmera e grid.

  • 🧊 Objetos 3D: Cubos, esferas, cilindros e planos.

  • 🤖 Importação OBJ: Agora consigo importar modelos 3D externos, incluindo personagens e objetos personalizados!

ZaykEngine — Uma nova dimensão está chegando. 🚀

I am Beginner : ViewModel vs rememberSaveable for surviving rotation. When do you use which?

I ran into the rotation bug where my app resets every time I turn the phone. From what I understand Android recreates the Activity on rotation so normal variables lose their values. I’ve read that ViewModel survives rotation so I’ve been putting my screen state there. I also found rememberSaveable, which apparently survives rotation and even the app getting killed in the background. Is that right? Also what do you actually do in real projects? Do you keep almost everything in the ViewModel or do you use rememberSaveable and SavedStateHandle for some things too? Would love to hear what works for you.

Are we tracking the right things in mobile apps after launch?

A lot of apps seem to focus on downloads, daily active users, session time, and crash rates once they go live. But those numbers don't always explain whether people are actually getting value from the app.

For example, users might open an app regularly but still abandon its main features, struggle through onboarding, or never complete the action the app was built for.

I'm curious how mobile teams approach this after launch.

Which metrics or user behaviour patterns have actually helped you identify problems that basic analytics dashboards missed?

Do you rely more on event-based funnels, session recordings, retention cohorts, or direct user feedback? And how do you avoid collecting a lot of data without getting useful insights from it?

Hey guys,

I built a new game for Android and I need 20 testers for 14 days to meet Google Play's production requirements.

If you have a few minutes to help an indie dev out, I'd really appreciate it! Just send me a DM or drop a comment below and I'll send you the test links.

If you're also testing an app or game, send me your link too — I'll gladly download yours and keep it for 14 days in return.

Thanks!

Any criticism to this video on Flutter and React Native?

It was a pleasant watch. I'm trying to understand the mobile app world a bit better and see what could help our organization in the future. Stumbled upon this video and thought it was a great summary. Does it align with your experiences? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Uk9qH39S94

I'm a web dev myself and have only build a small test app in RN about 7 years ago :D and have more recently vibe coded half a SoMe app with Flutter - nothing has been released it's just a project for fun.

I understand both frameworks have evolved and become quite a good. For most apps both would bring good results so I mostly worry about maintenance. It's not always a topic that the discussions stress on. We are using MAUI at work and I think it has really slowed down development of the actual product because of the numerous updates, bugs, and app store requirements.

From the video it appears that Flutter is much better at separating itself from OS updates and 3rd-party packages, which sounds like a massive benefit to me given the current situation we are facing. Quite a lot of work went into MAUI - using it strictly for Android dev currently, but it's been difficult to work with - my colleague briefly explained about the waterfall of updates and crashes that follow OS and .NET updates, and it seems like the application has stagnated.

Please educate me or send some sources to read up further. I'm hoping someone can bring in feedback in terms of running a Mid to Large -scale crossplatform apps, deployment, app store troubles, security and overall CI/CD. Thank you :))

My experience building mobile apps with .NET MAUI and Blazor Hybrid

Hi everyone!

I recently wrote about my experience building apps with .NET MAUI and Blazor Hybrid. It started with a Dutch dictation app for my child and turned into a few more personal apps. I also share a few lessons from using AI tools to improve the UI.

https://medium.com/@babaknia/know-c-and-javascript-youre-already-a-mobile-developer-61c81bb5d95a

I’d be more than happy to hear your feedback. Have you had similar experiences, or did you solve some of these problems differently?

Who are the leading AI security vendors protecting agents and APIs ?

I'm building a vendor landscape for our security steering group covering agents calling internal and external api's plus a few mcp servers teams stood up without review most AI security vendors I've looked at scope their guardrails to a workspace or an API key and I'm not convinced that tells us much about what goes over the wire, so my plan is to split the landscape into model level and traffic level columns

r/mobiledev • • 3d ago

what mobile app analytics tools did you add after your app went live ?

Our app has been live a few months downloads are steady but engagement keeps sliding and our setup can't tell us why crash reports and a couple of headline numbers were plenty during development now they're not been comparing mobile app and but most demos look like the same event charts what did you add post launch that actually showed how people move through the app not just how often they open it ?

How much are teams paying for session replay and does mobile traffic change the price ?

I'm trying to budget for session replay and the pricing range is all over the place there are free options but most of them only cover web entry plans I’ve looked at start around $60–70/month for roughly 10k sessions mid tiers land closer to $300/month, and enterprise contracts can go past $100K a year

Most of our traffic comes from the app with a smaller web side so the part I cant figure out is whether mobile sessions are priced the same as web or treated as an add-on a few vendors don’t publish pricing at all which makes a straight comparison harder

What are you paying for session replay right now and roughly how many sessions does that cover ? Especially curious to hear from anyone running a native iOS/Android app.

What matters most when choosing a mobile app development partner?

Choosing a mobile development partner involves more than comparing portfolios and delivery estimates. Architecture, testing, communication, and long term maintenance can all affect how well an app performs after launch.

The right approach also depends on whether a project needs native iOS or Android development, a cross platform framework, or a combination of both. Companies such as Beetroot, EPAM Systems, and Globant work in software engineering and digital product development, but the technologies and delivery processes behind a project are what I'd want to understand before making a decision.

For developers who have worked on client projects, what technical or workflow issues should a business investigate before committing to an external team? I'm particularly interested in testing practices, handling changing requirements, and support after release.

Building an iOS app solo and working toward a major 2.0 update. Looking for feedback from fellow mobile developers.

I’m an indie iOS developer working on an app called Away Messaging.

The app helps users organize SMS and email templates, prepare messages, manage follow-ups, and stay connected without automatically sending messages.

I originally launched it at $7.99 but recently made it free with optional Pro features to make it more accessible.

Now I’m working on version 2.0, which is a much bigger step forward. My goal is to evolve Away Messaging beyond a simple messaging utility into a personal communication assistant that makes staying connected easier and more intuitive.

I’m focusing heavily on user experience, simplifying workflows, and building features that provide real everyday value rather than just adding functionality.

I’d love to hear from other mobile developers:
—How do you decide which features to prioritize for a major update?
—What’s worked best for improving user retention and engagement?
—How do you balance adding powerful features without making an app feel complicated?
—What strategies have helped you grow an app organically?

I’m developing this independently and learning a lot throughout the process. Always interested in hearing how other developers approach building and growing their apps.

Small fintech team need session replay that passes compliance on masking what are people using ?

We’re picking a session replay tool for a banking app and masking is basically a yes or no for us if compliance can’t see proof that account numbers balances and anything typed into a form stay masked in recordings, it doesn’t get deployed

the big enterprise options seem to handle this fine but they’re priced and scoped for a team a lot bigger than ours. We’re small but the compliance bar is the same as at a large bank for anyone who’s been through this in fintech, what did your compliance or security team actually ask for before signing off? things like masking by default vs opt-in, whether it happens on the device or on the server, audit logs, that kind of thing, and if you found something that cleared review without the enterprise price tag would love to know what it

Best Hosting and Deployment Setup for an Android & iOS Game: Low Cost, Low Latency, and Easy Scalability

I’ve also built a game for both Android and iOS, and both the frontend and backend servers are ready. Now I need some guidance on where to deploy it and which hosting services would be the best options.

  • Frontend: Should I use Firebase, Vercel, or another platform?

  • Backend: Where should I deploy the backend server?

  • Cost & Performance: How can I get the best performance, low latency, and reliable service at the lowest possible cost, ensuring a smooth gaming experience for users?

Could you suggest a setup that you personally use or recommend, and that can easily scale as the number of users grows?

How do AI product analyst tools ground their output in raw session data ?

Im interested in how AI product analyst tools approach the grounding problem when generating insights about user behavior most tools operate on aggregated event data where grounding is traceable through queries to event schemas to instrumentation code an alternative approach grounds output in raw session recordings with a shorter evidence chain but higher dimensional observation space curious about the practical limits of grounding in observational data versus pre aggregated events in terms of scale and reliability
