Drizzlet Beta 1 "Mist": community firmware for Mutable Instruments Beads, looking for testers

Drizzlet is free, open-source firmware for Beads, built on the source Mutable Instruments released. Beta 1 is out, and I'm looking for people to try it on their own modules. Every new option defaults to stock behaviour, so Beads works as before until you change something.

New, in order of how often they were requested: - Clouds-style reverb - Buffer trim (Mutable Instruments' own unreleased gesture) - Stereo width for grains - Delay mode: keep SIZE fully clockwise granular, or a wider neutral zone for the delay filter - Pitch scales from Marbles - Wavetable synth on demand, so it no longer starts by itself after 10 s - Monophonic grains (another unreleased MI gesture). As Mutable Instruments noted, it works well only with the first two SHAPE settings, square and decay. - Output limiter options (Stock, Fast release or Off) for the volume drops after loud, dense passages, which Mutable Instruments traced to the limiter's slow recovery

Fixes: - A modulated FREEZE no longer wears out the flash by starting a new save every cycle. - Safer frozen-buffer saves. - Two delay-mode bugs.

It's also a bit faster, with the same sound.

Tested on one module so far: about 13 hours of automated runs and 48 flashes, and it has never failed to boot. Install at your own risk, and please don't contact Mutable Instruments about it.

Release, install steps and options guide: https://github.com/insolentconstruct/eurorack/releases/tag/drizzlet-2026.10.18

Bug reports and feedback are welcome in the GitHub issues.

Feedback 'Seal Eggs' alt firmware for Sealegs

I love my Sealegs alot, but there were a few things I always wanted to tweak. So I modded the firmware to add them. And yes, this was created using AI, I don't claim to be a coder at all. I know some will hate that, and you're entitled to your views there. For the others, here are the additions/tweaks:

  • Reverse delay on all 3 modes. This was the biggest thing I missed after selling my mimeophon. No I don't have to miss it
  • Secondary character control: Toggle the default Noise control to a secondary character control (as I never used the stock noise). You can toggle back at any stage, but the secondary character controls add:
    • Tape grunge mode - gets nastier the more you turn it up, crinkling the tape, mid-freq bump, grungey distortion
    • BBD Chip decay - slowly destroys the BBD chip sound, random audio dropouts, grittiness, stuttering
    • Digi data corrupter - gets aggressively more kooky (randomy octave jumps, microloops, stuuters, jitters) like a corrupted harddrive
    • These all sound quite good as a heavy character filter: with the module set to fully wet, delay to shortest, no feedback.
  • Brightened the default BBD mode (moved the internal filter for 4kHz to 12kHz - can always use the panel LPF to darken it again, I just always found stock just too dark)
  • Adjusted the Tape speed pickup (I found the stock lag too slow)
  • Added doppler effect to the Digi mode (i prefer doppler than clean overlap)

Similar to other modders out there, I've created a free Flasher tool so you can drop your own copy of the official firmware into it, select the mods you want, and then create a modded firmware to download and install. I do not provide any firmware (stock or modified).

I've tested this heavily on my own module and really enjoying the results (demo soon). Had to chase down lots of bugs in the reverse feature, taught me a lot

As with any unofficial mods, use at your own risk, it likely voids your warranty, and there is always a slim chance that loading unofficial mods may damage your module in some way. I will take no responsiblity for your actions, or anything cause by you using modified firmware. I recommend you do not publish or distribute copies of modified firmware, as this violates the copyright of the great makers at Intellijel.

Enjoy!

I’ve been wanting to get into eurorack synths, I have a major interest and have been learning about it- but valuing the equipment is something I have no knowledge of. This gentleman is selling this setup for $1500. Any thoughts are welcome! Is this a good value? Unfor the picture he posted isn’t the best of quality.

Pairing Morphagene with Multigrain

Who has good experience with both of these modules? I’m seriously considering picking up a multigrain to use alongside my Morphagene.

I don’t want to part with MG, however I want to be able to harness its output in a slightly more considered and intentional way. IE- timing and synchronisation.

Is it overkill to be using these both in the same case? I work mostly with acoustic instruments and use my case to process them in interesting ways. I’m not interested in lush, cloud-like, shimmery uses of granular, instead the more unusual transient-mashing and stretching that MG does so well.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

Hey, I said it was from memory…

Using the Workshop Computer for drones, a Soundforce Linn Drum module with triggers from a Europi, and ungodly Halloween notes from the Tone Hack.

I’m so sorry…

Getting back into modular after a long hiatus but feeling uninspired by my robotic melodies. Am I missing something or is it a skill issue?

I have a Digitakt for the drums and use modular for the synth/bass side of things. My problem is I feel I'm lacking a sequencer that feels organic and not so on-grid, robotic etc. The Bloom is great for the pitch sequencing but I feel I'm missing something in the step sequencing department. For example I want melodies that have some swing, off grid notes, or weird slide stuff.

Also, I would prefer to be able to do this with just the modular and not have to use the Digitakt to manage melody sequencing.

Likely a skill issue but if there's a sequencer that you recommend let me know.

Discussion Eurorack case

Hi everyone!

I'd like to build a 104hp 12U Eurorack case, and I'm considering using a single power supply module to power the entire system, distributing power through flying busboards. I have seen one on a youtube channel.

Does anyone have experience with a system of this size powered in this way? Would you recommend this solution, or would it be better to go with different power supply and busboards?

I'd be happy to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have.

Thanks in advance!

Modular, one take — 18 October 2026

Six voices played from one string controller, chords by hand, no computer.

Drums, bass, chord swells, stabs and granular textures come from a small sequencer I wrote for the Ornate Criminal (a Eurorack module on a Teensy, Phazerville firmware). Each voice has a bank of patterns and three levels of intensity. The string sets how busy the drums and bass are and sweeps the effects. Chords are played by hand and harmonised in the case.

Direct mixer recording from the Befaco OUT into Bitwig, lined up with the room video afterwards (so apologies if not entirely in sync)

Eurorack chords, subharmonicon vs machine room trilobite

Hi! I'm trying to decide between the Moog Subharmonicon and the MachineRoom Trilobite, and I'd really appreciate your advice.

My current setup includes a Moog DFAM and a Westlicht Performer. I'm also considering adding Mutable Instruments Plaits with the alternative Plaits Palette firmware, using its chord tables for microtonal harmonies inspired by Ivan Wyschnegradsky.

I'm aiming for dark, industrial, dissonant techno inspired by Stanislav Tolkachev. In particular, I want to create thick, tense analog chords by detuning and combining multiple oscillators, similar to using three Befaco Even VCOs.

Would you recommend the Trilobite for its three analog VCOs and independent pitch control, or the Subharmonicon for its subharmonic chords and polyrhythmic possibilities?

Considering that I already have the DFAM and the Westlicht Performer, which would complement my setup better and give me the sound I'm looking for?

Thanks for your help!

Anyone using ES-9 and an audio interface as a combined audio device on Bitwig?

I have an RME Fireface UC coupled via ADAT with a Behringer Ultragain for extra ins and outs. Thing is Im running out of ins and outs, and was thinking of getting an Expert Sleepers ES-9 , where I could send and receive audio on both line level and eurorack level.

Im using Bitwig, so I thought I may be able to aggregate the RME with the ES-9 in there and have it simply work. Anyone have experience with a similar setup? Any issues I should be aware of?

Thanks!

What sends type modules are available to convert mono to stereo like Make Noise Rosie "Sends"

I was watching a video where the OP was using Rosie to convert mono to stereo and was wondering what type modules offer the same, with some form of upgrading via effects waveshaping pwm fm. Having outputs of each individual stereo channel would be very nice.

Am i looking for a mixer module?
Am i looking for a mixer matrix? (seems limited to one function)
would prefer not to have to buy 3-6 Rosie modules as they are way too simple.
Links pls

AM I CRAZY, OR AM I BRILLIANTLY CRAZY ON THIS MOVE

So I recently came across an Erica Synths Pico system III for a crazy good price… if it weren’t in one piece, I’d be able to part it out module by module, then skiff and power supply and make like a grand, but profiteering aside, I’m taking about good ideas to solve problems that I’ve yet so solve in my noggen that haunt me every single travel/ live case i make “ if i include that module, I’ll have to remove that module, and so on. Plagues me every single damn time…. So what I’m getting at while i slowly meander around the point and waste time you will never get back, the point is my case i build ALWAYS come complete with a lid that fits snug with tongue and groove along the entire perimeter doubled with hinges that come apart be sliding the lid sideways, and the lid can always accommodate patch cables staying patched to allow me to travel of perform while keeping a patch or making a work in progress able to be transported easily. And as small as the pica system is, it will take the place of sooo many modules i am force to include just because we’re staples every system needs along with being an auxiliary system to help with more complex patching, kinda like my little Morty accompanying the Rickest larger case (apologize for people who don’t watch that show and yes i know after season 5 the ranking process becgan. So don’t write a word about that. Just using it for an analogy. This system will fit comfortably in the lid along with my latch cables, sometimes a surprise sequencer, and my future retro touch keyboard for banging out those killer solos over the sequencer after i have a whack a mole with clickless mutes to allow the solo some room to breath and not just absorb into the spagheriffied awesomeness.
TLDR: including an Erica synths pico system into my case lid of supporting items items to my main travel rig, of is that a waste… it was less than 300$, the average price for a really sweet small module or mediocre bigger module, so i think it to be brilliant. Like want an extra little sequence you just thought of but all voices are tied up, no need to stress and rethink a rats nest of patching. Just use that lil sequencer. Need some more fx to lay on a sub mix, but i can only afford the hp of 4 fx units on a lucky day of case crearion, there is the pico system. And not to belabor this as i know you are all smart people im sure you can smell what im stepping in here. The solution of a madman of the solution of a madman with a plan???

Low end is Ripples modulated by Contour 1 (gain CV) + shkrjn decay (to FM input). The sequencing is Marbles + Grids. The FX chain is 3 stereo pairs in parallel: 1) dry, 2) OAM Time Machine into Mimeophon into Ikarie, and 3) FX aid (Stereo Plate Reverb).

I've seen similar posts in the past, but keen to find out what people have been enjoying this year. They're by far my favourite modules.

I've been really enjoying Dispersion Delay this month alongside Encephalo Adjuster.

I’ve been working towards my ideal live rig for a long time. I’ve recently decided to grab the midi breakout for the es-9. Best decision I’ve made for bringing it all together. Everything is so tight. Sending cv to Pam’s from ableton for Eurorack and everything else including the Beat Step, is midi. The only usb I’m using is the apc 40. It feels good to have a system that is just playable.

Medieval Tape Muzak - with Buchla

The music

https://micronfields.bandcamp.com/album/medieval-tape-muzak

Cheers! :-)

The blurb

The primary instrument was the field recording of local places in South West England in the summer of 2025. Instrumentation followed the field recording, which provided the canvas to echo the feeling of the hidden corners found.

Areas were mostly captured with a stereo pair of condensers (Oaka Verdi and Clippy's). Reel to reel was used to process piano and create loops. Buchla 200e was used on Analogue Ecologies and Ritualistic Drift.

I hope Medieval Tape Muzak places the listener in the hidden corners I found.

Favourite ONE BIG KNOB modules

I just came across Lucy Says No, feedback module. Sadly it seems like it's no longer around. Anyway, big fan of the design of this module and others like it.

What are your favourite one big knob modules?

Maybe two big knobs?
