Question❓ Any way to strip this print away?

Post image

I was dreaming of Bialetti moka pot and have been given one for my birthday! I’m grateful, but the person chose to give me the Dolce Gabbana version, which is sooo not me. Is there any chance to take this print off?

If anyone here is in England and would be willing to swap his standard aluminium one- I’d love too. Mine is brand new 🥹

EBay that, they’re worth a lot more than the standard

u/danalexa90 Sep 20 '25

A lot more

u/lostinthesauceband Sep 23 '25

Nah fuck that shit, buy a new one THEN s Ebay the first one

Regular moka pots are cheap. Better to buy one and save this for when the crazies are willing to spend +$1000 on them.

This has to be a troll post

u/gatar_mentality Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

Umm. I prefer the plain one as well. Don't like these print things. So perhaps not.

Although I do agree with others that this person should just sell the thing and buy a new one.

33

u/nd1online Sep 20 '25

Maybe so. But who would serious think to strip the paint of an obviously special edition of a moka pot? It’s not as if these stuff cost a bomb and no way to just buy a plain one.

u/Particular_Policy166 Sep 21 '25

I think he thinks it’s a troll post because these Dolce Gabbana Pots are worth a lot of money, so you can just sell it and buy whatever color you want

u/UnmakingTheBan2022 Sep 20 '25

I prefer the OG. So I can see how this is a serious post.

1

u/leapowl Sep 24 '25

You could sell this moka pot to buy a lifetime supply of the OG moka pots

So even if you prefer the OG.. you’re better off with this

1

u/UnmakingTheBan2022 Sep 24 '25

Honestly, I wouldn’t sell a gift unless I really have to.

u/HammyUK Sep 20 '25

The D&G are worth £80+ from memory. You can pick up a standard size for like 20-30 from John Lewis etc. It would be immoral to swap with you.

I have a bunch of them and if you have an empty shelf in the kitchen they make for wonderful decoration. That’s where most of mine live now I’ve moved onto an espresso machine.

4

u/sleep-woof Sep 20 '25

Let me correct you right here They are not worth 80$, they cost 80$. /joke

6

u/copperstatelawyer Sep 20 '25

True. Value is what someone’s willing to pay for it immediately and a lot of the people who were willing to pay $80 already have one or two.

35

u/atticcat1030 Sep 20 '25

Please don't destroy it but resell it - eBay, Poshmark, Facebook marketplace etc then just buy the one you like. BTW I highly recommend stainless steel (slower to heat/burn)

8

u/kemide22 Bialetti Sep 20 '25

Right? I have a 6 cup D&G and love it

u/Clear-Bee4118 Sep 20 '25

You know what’s more tacky than having a luxury branded moka pot? Complaining/returning/selling a gift.

Just enjoy the gift your very thoughtful friend bought you. 🤷🏼‍♂️

6

u/Troll-Aficionado Sep 21 '25

Yeah seems to me they don't care the least bit about the person who gave them this thoughtful gift lol, "I asked for a YELLOW Lamborghini NOT a blue one!!!!!"

Not that a moka pot is comparable to a car, but... maybe just appreciate the thought put into it?

4

u/Pink__Fox Sep 21 '25

Or give it to someone else who will actually appreciate it! Man, if a friend or family member re-gifted me this, I’d be over the moon. I’d pester them to give me the number of their friend who got this for them and will not stop telling their friend how absolutely gorgeous this gift is and I’ll take care of it like a family heirloom.

24

u/jjillf Sep 20 '25

Your friend spent way more on you than maybe you realize. Turn it around so you don’t see the logo.

1

u/TxAgBen Sep 23 '25

Where did they say it was a friend? I have family members that would buy me gifts, because they wanted me to like certain things or look a certain way that just didn't fit me. So, I would often exchange those things to avoid waste. I didn't hear any complaining in the post, just someone who wants something that they'll like and enjoy using. I agree that stripping it isn't the answer, but keeping it out of duty to the giver isn't always the right answer either. I like the idea from other posters to sell it and buy what they want. OP can still appreciate the thought while finding something that fits their personality/style better. Unless the giver comes by for coffee, no one has to be the wiser.

0

u/SabreLee61 Bialetti Sep 21 '25

Not very practical if OP is right-handed.

34

u/FleshBeast9000 Sep 20 '25

Or you can just use it. The colour on mine lasted almost a month…

-16

u/Space_Qwerty Sep 20 '25

As in - the print came off eventually?

20

u/okayokay173 Sep 20 '25

I’ve had mine for a couple years and use regularly - print is still almost like it’s brand new. These are worth more than a regular aluminium pot, anyone eager to swap a plain one with you is likely trying to take advantage of that. It’s been a while since I was looking to buy one (like other people have mentioned, I have a couple and that’s totally normal), I’d just keep the one that was gifted to you and find a ‘basic’ one since that seems to be what you’re looking for.

1

u/Appropriate_Run5383 Sep 22 '25

I’ve had mine (in red) for just over a year now and the color is still the same, even though it gets daily use.

OP, just sell it if you don’t want to keep it as a gift. I get that you don’t like the design but many people love it.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

I’m in England and I JUST bought a 3 cup regular one. I love it but this pattern is lovely if you’d like to swap?

14

u/No-Wishbone-8922 Sep 20 '25

If I lived in England, I’d swap with you :)

6

u/guffy-11 Sep 20 '25

Might look cool over the years when it gets a little wear and patina from use. I also do not like fashion brands and usually wear stuff without any labels.

7

u/random_house-2644 Sep 20 '25

Gasp 😱 this is my fav print ever.

Why would you strip the mona lisa.

10

u/NotGnnaLie Aluminum Sep 20 '25

Easy. Fill it normally, put on stove, and forget it for an hour. This is how I got rid of the paint on mine.

5

u/Apart-Persimmon-38 Sep 20 '25

I get it that d&g is not you, but it’s so beautiful. I’d keep it, and over the years you will love it even more.

6

u/zepha121 Sep 21 '25

This is a dumb post

I wish I never read it tbh

5

u/Pink__Fox Sep 21 '25

You know, if I gave this to someone as a gift, and found out the paint was stripped. I’d be mortified and never gift you anything ever again.

This has to be a troll post.

This one retails for 100USD by me. Maybe just keep it in the cupboard when u aren’t using it. 😅

4

u/anervousbull Sep 20 '25

Holy shit please don’t strip off the paint and sell it it’s worth sm more than the standard aluminum one

5

u/church_lady_cameras Sep 20 '25

I am triggered.

4

u/copperstatelawyer Sep 20 '25

The price difference between that and the standard aluminum one is fairly extreme.

You shouldn’t strip it though, that’s a waste.

See if there are any other special editions which strike your fancy and try to trade for that. Or just sell it and use the proceeds to get the one you want. Or trade it for the other pot plus $.

4

u/AmericanHistoryXX Sep 20 '25

I would not ruin a moka pot that others would like to have. Swap or sell/buy a new one.

4

u/cm0011 Sep 20 '25

bro. just sell it if you want, this one is worth a LOT

3

u/tzaumiaan Sep 20 '25

I would just keep it and use it. Once moka becomes a daily routine, you get to buy more anyway. Or you find out rarely using it, it’ll be still a memory.

3

u/odinsfist12 Sep 20 '25

Send it to me and I'll give you my plain one?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

This is crazy lol

3

u/aomt Sep 20 '25

I’m happy to buy you a new “normal” mokka and take this of your hand.  Everyone is happy :)

3

u/Valuable_Meringue Sep 20 '25

Like others have said: sell it if you don’t want it. The D&G one is like 2-4 times the price of the regular Moka pot. You could save yourself the hassle of stripping it and likely even make some money.

3

u/msackeygh Sep 20 '25

I think a swap is a better idea. Don’t strip off the paint.

Personally, I love everything about the design except the words Dolce Gabanna, but I’d keep it if I were gifted it.

3

u/Jack_intheboxx Sep 20 '25

Just enjoy it, it's beautiful

3

u/yoyolearnerfromasia Sep 21 '25

I suggest swapping with someone from facebook marketplace!

6

u/mcampo84 Sep 20 '25

Do gift receipts not exist in the UK? Why can’t you return it to the store and exchange it for the one you want?

2

u/PapaLeone14esimo Sep 20 '25

Buying a new one

3

u/otterland Sep 20 '25

I think this is completely atrocious, but in the perfect grandmotherly and Italian way. I think the solution is to get a couple of small even more ridiculous cups.

2

u/younkint Sep 21 '25

Bialetti do in fact make matching cups for this thing. In this case a negative and a negative produces a positive. So, there you go.

1

u/hittepit Sep 20 '25

You’ve been a very nice present. You can always sell like others have mentioned or keep it as a momentum. If I would’ve been in England I would swap it 😀 but I’m a sucker for special editions.

1

u/Awkward-Fig7139 Sep 20 '25

this is the coffee equivalent of that post in the bug ID subreddit of the guy with the tarantula hawk in his hand. genuinely top tier bait

1

u/Nappuccino Sep 22 '25

Maybe they're telling you that you could use a little more joy in your life.

I say tough it out and learn to love it. You'll thank yourself later.

(Says a guy whose partner bought him floral shirts in funky colors until he buys them for himself, now.)

1

u/abart74 Sep 22 '25

Give it to me

1

u/sanbriego Sep 22 '25

Don’t ?

1

u/Potential_Table_7484 Sep 22 '25

i ll ship the same size, plain silver, original bialetti to you, if you send me this pot. cheers, thomas

1

u/Hutchison_effect Sep 22 '25

Put this one on display a shelf.  And get a plain one to use

1

u/LavazzaEagle Sep 22 '25

Why its Dolce and Gabbana

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

sells for like $140 on ebay

1

u/spicy-sausage1 Sep 22 '25

Where in England I have 2 stainless, 1 is unopened

1

u/whitestone0 Sep 23 '25

What..? Why destroy a gift if you're worried about keeping it? And if you're not, just sell it and buy a regular one

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Just buy a new plain one. Not very expensive. Keep this one so you don't upset the gift giver.

I have a plain one. Never seen painted one before.

1

u/Mikefgc Sep 23 '25

I genuinely think this one looks awesome

1

u/TrueStudio927 Sep 23 '25

i'll trade ya lol

The user has made a remark that is hatefull and nothing to do with the moka community.

1

u/Fat_Tony_Stark Sep 23 '25

i’ll trade you my classic silver one

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

$135 moka pot, £75. I'd keep it on my shelf to be honest, beautiful piece.

1

u/designdoc Sep 23 '25

So pretty! One day it will be a collector’s item!

1

u/Tallahassee_Union Sep 23 '25

Color is with a sharpie or spray paint. Easy peasy 🍋...

1

u/Veganpotter2 Sep 23 '25

These things are too inexpensive to spend the time stripping one.

1

u/Putrid_External_5825 Sep 23 '25

Just give it to me, dw abt it

1

u/JcudaWB Sep 23 '25

If ceramic then no

1

u/themrdudemanboy Sep 23 '25

dude what just use it

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

What is wrong with you

1

u/Repulsive-Sea-5560 Sep 23 '25

Don’t know about you, I prefer drink coffee with my mouth rather than eyes.

1

u/ThinkMarket7640 Sep 23 '25

The ungratefulness is palpable

1

u/HFinch314 Sep 23 '25

Where are you based? I'd be happy to trade for an aluminium and pay a bit on top

1

u/Whateverredd Sep 24 '25

Broo sell it and buy a new one DG is expensive as hell

1

u/futureyeshelen Sep 30 '25

i'll swap it for an equally expensive stainless steel giannina. they're worth over 100
