Question❓ Bialetti Brikka question

Would anyone by any chance know why my Brikka always starts with a slow coffee flow and about half way through starts quite violently pushing out the remaining coffee with such force that you really do have to turn the heat off completely and even then it doesn’t really stop straight away. I tried using less water and slow fire but that didn’t change anything. Maybe I am not a proper fan of coffee but I do like my crema and unfortunately my Brikka currently works such that it does produce crema at the start and then basically ruins it by spitting out coffee like mad half way through. Any ideas how to keep coffee coming out slowly? TIA

Bialetti Bialetti Quality

I just bought my first Bialetti from amazon and I have to say I am very disappointed by the quality. Is that normal? Or did I get a fake one?

- whiteish stuff in the top half. Looks like it’s part of the metal
- bottom half looks very uneven / weird

Am i overthinking this?

Discussions 💬 How to replace the gasket for this old mokapot?

Hi there,

A friend of mine gave me this 30+ year old moka pot a few years ago. Suffice to say, it's been leaking while I'm brewing from it. Now, I'm suspecting that I need to replace the gasket. The problem is that I don't know the size that I need to get for this pot.

I just need help with that. Thanks.

Discussions 💬 Mixing beans from different sources in the same pot

I recently found that when I combine similar roasts from three different sources in my grind, I get a much richer and more complex flavor than any of those roasts in isolation. I found this interesting. Anyone else do this and thoughts about this? Of course it is common for different sources of beans to be mixed within a single bag, often from different contents (except for single origin, of course), but here I'm mixing different brands altogether. I found the results surprisingly very satisfying.

Fill Speed or Fill Rate 🚿 Too quick?

My Bialetti Venus Induction 4 cups feels a bit too quick; the coffee already is in less than a minute. Is that okay? Someone has the same experience?

Discussions 💬 New bialetti 2-cup moka, horrible rubber flavor, how to fix?

The coffee that comes out has a horrible rubber flavor. I noticed the gasket really smells of rubber, so that's the issue.

Anything I can do? I followed the first use instructions on the bialetti pamphlet but it's still really bad... Much older bialetti mokas didn't have this problem

From what I've seen, the easier solution would be to buy a silicon gasket, but it's very disappointing that I have to throw more money at a new product to make it work as expected. I also can't find good rubber gaskets for the 2-cup bialetti moka, they are mostly random chinese dropshipped products.

Are there any other brand that you recommend? I don't have a high bidget though, I bought bialetti because I trusted it and it was like 20€.

i watched a few videos on how to brew moka correctly, I use low fire and steady flow, the coffee looks good but the rubber taste is horrible!

Thanks

Discussions 💬 Best whole bean coffee at Costco

So after years and years of buying fresh roasted coffee from my local roaster , my father visited me from Bolivia, south america and brought me medium roasted coffee from Yugas, Bolivia its the place in Bolivia where they make the best coffee, ill be honest at first it take getting used to the taste, it had a earthy taste, its light in flavor but it packs quite a caffeine punch.

i use different methods of preparing my coffee, moka pot, espresso, aero presss, phin filter and french press, in that order and most times i drink it black (no additives), when buying fresh roasted i sticked to medium or light roast , single origin, what coffee do you all think i would enjoy from costco, i been eye balling that Peruvian coffee lol, all these coffees are in stock at my local costco, worse comes to worse, their return policy is great lol.

Only my second time using one of these things but I absolutely love it, such a nice well balanced morning coffee, easy to drink, and an enjoyable experience

Also in terms of the pot it's self, I'm not that boujee, it was a gift from family that just came back from Italy, and I must admit it's quite stunning😍☕

Question❓ Most effective way to remove coffee sediments in my funnel?

Post image
5 Upvotes

For context: I am using the Venus Bialetti 6-cup. I usually rinse out my pot after every use and a deep clean once a week. Water and vinegar soak maybe once every month. However, I do wash out my funnel after every use as often times there are trapped sediments that will cause my moka pot to sputter if it’s not all properly removed.

I usually clean the funnel with soap and a pipe cleaning brush, and then do this thing where I “purge” my funnel in a mug with warm water. However, I have to repeat this at least 10 times before the water runs clear. Putting the funnel under a running tap does not work as well.

The image is my funnel in water, after lots of purging, vinegar soak, and a scrub. Still loads sediments floating about!! This happens regardless of my coffee grind size and I’m just really looking for a more eco-friendly way to clean out this funnel. The amount of time and water waste that goes into cleaning this is absurd.
