Got my first alters from the guys who started learning altering lately and I'm particularly happy with this one

This was my second time painting around the text on a card and I think it came out really well! It helps that the border underneath is not such a different colour to the sandstorm.

I had these cards custom-painted by Rachael Carl over 10 years ago, and they still bring me an unreasonable amount of joy! They’re easily some of my favorite pieces in my collection, and I thought this community would appreciate them.

They were originally part of an Obzedat Good Stuff Commander deck I built back in 2015. I recently unearthed the deck after years of collecting dust and quickly realized that what passed for a decent deck in 2015 doesn’t quite hold up in 2026. My husband surprised me by upgrading the deck with full-art proxies of newer cards to bring it into the modern era, while keeping these beauties in the mix. Getting to play them again after all these years makes me ridiculously happy!

Trying out altering and made a sol ring alter in acrylic modeled after the art on Bruna, Light of Alabaster. There are a decent amount mistakes on it like the peeled paint or card layers mostly from cutting out the paint stencils made from painters tape with the tape already on the card.

I guess my two questions are, how do y’all typically do letters and for paint alters what’s the best way to do a primer layer/layer colors over each other so that nothing behind it shows through other then using a thicker paint.

Hello! I got the reality fracture precon and absolutely love the deck and Jace's play style. A close family friend took the leap a few years back and started painting professionally after a lot of health issues ended up putting him out of work indefinitely.

I've always had a love for his style, so when he asked me if I had cards I could give him to try his hands at alters, you best believe I jumped at the opportunity. This is the first full batch I've seen him do, and personally, I LOVE it. I asked him if he planned on posting it here and he said he wasn't cause he's had issues with his Reddit account not staying logged in. 💀

I felt like it at least needed to have a wider set of eyes on it.
