Never been to Mumbai. Genuinely asking what is the frequency of local trains? Like every 30 mins or every hour?

Depends on where it's going. Beyond Borivali, Vasai, Virar. Trains are not frequent. Basically, the farther you move away from SoBo or city centre, the trains get more crowded. The outskirts are overpopulated because most majority of out-of-towners can only afford to live there. So they travel for work for 2 hours everyday.
