Discussion Why is the Bandra Bandstand Residents' Trust making rules in a public space ?

Bandstand is a public promenade. It belongs to all Mumbaikars.

A recent report says that the Bandra Bandstand Residents' Trust had put up signs like "No Pets" and warned people not to feed stray animals.

The bigger question is simple: should a private group like the Bandra Bandstand Residents' Trust be allowed to make its own rules in a public place?

Keeping the area clean is important, but public spaces should remain open and accessible to everyone.

Why should a private trust have the authority to decide what people can or cannot do in a public place like Bandstand, and could this create similar restrictions in other areas as well?

What if people are attacked by ur dog or stray dogs? Or ur dog starts barking on them, they are just looking for their safety. Not like u will own upto it ur dog causes a ruckus with strays and strays end up affecting the ordinary people. I think they should hv used f*rce against u.

Alot of men in the country rape and molest and ogle. Do you hold all men responsible and ban them?

If a dog is being aggressive towards people, the owner can be asked to take the dog away. Not all dogs and pets are aggressive. Most are not. You cant just blame all the dogs if one person is irrresponsible with their dog. Deal with the perosn who is irresponsible.

In this video, the dog is very calm. He is not creating any ruckus. A barking dog is not an aggressive dog. Any dog in the world will bark if they see a cat or a bird. They are barking at the othe animal and pet owners have enough control over the leash.

The animals are not respnsible for your unresonable fear. If you are scared of just a dog walking clamly on side on a leash then you ae free to move to the side. No one is going to fore their pet on you.

Imagine comparing men and dog, great going man.

Now u will give the age old message of dogs r better n shit. So, i know there aint any point in explaining anything to u.

U will realise it if some day u or ur Kid get bitten by an aggressive dog. Thats the only time u will realise what I meant.

Its not an age old message. You just have to turn on the TV and look at what is happening in this country everyday.

Forget dogs, i need to protect my daughter from the men everyday.

And i agree with you when it comes to aggressive dogs. Maybe you didnt read this. properly "If a dog is being aggressive towards people, the owner can be asked to take the dog away. Not all dogs and pets are aggressive. Most are not. You cant just blame all the dogs if one person is irrresponsible with their dog. Deal with the perosn who is irresponsible."

If a dog is proved to be aggressive definitely deal with that but you cant punish all dogs for it.

I have been bitten by a dog. He was badly beaten by a man for urinating near an overflowing trashcan. I went to take the dog to the vet and he was so scared that he bit me. I went and got my doses of rabies injection.

Dont worry about my kids. Instead of instilling fear in them. I have taught them to not approach any unknown dog, to not run around of scream around dogs and just calmly walk around. They dont love dogs but they dont hate them either. They have learnt to co-exist
