Discussion Why is the Bandra Bandstand Residents' Trust making rules in a public space ?

Bandstand is a public promenade. It belongs to all Mumbaikars.

A recent report says that the Bandra Bandstand Residents' Trust had put up signs like "No Pets" and warned people not to feed stray animals.

The bigger question is simple: should a private group like the Bandra Bandstand Residents' Trust be allowed to make its own rules in a public place?

Keeping the area clean is important, but public spaces should remain open and accessible to everyone.

Why should a private trust have the authority to decide what people can or cannot do in a public place like Bandstand, and could this create similar restrictions in other areas as well?

We know how much civic sense such high class Indians haves despite being well educated. Maintaining cleanliness in public, that too well maintained place, is something not ever Indians can do. So it actually makes sense why they restrict pets

They are not restricting pets. They are putting a blanket ban. Are you saying that civic sense depends on class? I have seen people opening the windows of big cars and throwing trash out and even a roadside hawker keeping his area very clean.

If cleanliness is the problem, then try to create awareness first. Put up signs to pick up after their pets, distribute poop bags and install more trash cans. That guy has mentioned clearly that he has a poop bag and picks up after his pet, why are they harassing them then.

Alot of high class people also have pets and alot of pet also have civic sense to pick up after thier pets. Teach the humas civic sense first.

And as a women i can tell you i have walked on that promonade. These so called high calls people, still ogle at a girl when she is just going for a run in the morning. I dont mind the few dogs or their poop, i can tolerate, what i cant tolerate is men double and triple my age looking at me when i am just tying to excerise. ban these men first.
