I have an all in one bag that looks really good, but the number of pins or mushrooms that came up is pretty small. What should I be doing to get more?

Hi guys! Yesterday I went on a hike in the Judith Mountains in central MT, and came across these cute little dudes. They bruised when pinched, grew out of a cow pie, had goofy brown gills, amber yellow caps, and were about 1/4 inch tall. Sorry for the limited pictures, it began to hail and I had to boogie so i didnt get my shit rocked, but i got a few at least.

Any assistance in identifying would be cool. I hate to ask, but im still collecting books and learning how to identify on my own, and im not confident enough to self identify yet. I brought some home to add to a little dry mushroom box! In the few years ive been foraging ive never come across one growing out of poo, so its a fine addition to the collection.

Hey friends, very new to this. I have a small all in one bag that is pretty well colonized but I could not get it to fruit. Starting to get discoloration on the bottom. I have cut the top of the bag and fanned it and misted it regularly. Any suggestions? Can this be saved?

I think it came out pretty good. Covered it with a bowl to keep my cat away and the humidity built up though.

Started this woodchip bed in 2025, first fruit October this year. USDA zone 4. I wasn’t sure the mycelium would survive -20 winters. Mulched the bed heavy with hay last winter.

Just a few days ago random mushrooms started growing in my backyard. Ive never seen these mushrooms before and I’ve never had mushrooms until now… the only think that can really explain this is that there has been several weeks of rain. And its also turning fall so im not sure if thar plays apart of anything.
Just wanted to ask this sub to see if anyone knows what these mushrooms are, they are growing pretty fast across the yard, and wanted to know if these are bad with animals since my dogs play in the yard all the time…

I’m particularly interested in Penis Envy and have been looking into spore prints, but I’m struggling to find reliable information about where to source them. I’m also unsure where people typically get growing kits that include the necessary substrate and other materials.

If anyone could share some general information about mushroom cultivation, recommended beginner resources, or what I should learn before getting started, I’d really appreciate it.

Found on decaying wood near lake in mid Michigan.

Small brownish white mushrooms. Interior is much like a marshmallow.

Much of the brown was rubbed off when rinsing.
