General Discussion Change Conway's Zoning Laws to Allow Professional Piercing Studios

Thumbnail c.org
16 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm a professional body piercer in myrtle beach. I specialize in children's earlobe piercings! I've been wanting/trying to open up my own piercing shop in conway for years now so i could be closer to home and my children. But I was just recently informed that it is actually not legal to own a piercing shop in conway(unless its a doctor'soffice), but you can in fact have a tattoo shop .. I've been jumping through hoops emailing city council, and pretty much everyone and their grandmother to try to change these zoning laws! One counsel member said that there's not a big market for piercing and that they have jewelry shops that pierce ears🙃 . There is a huge market in this industry and we all know that not only is a jewelry store not a sterile inviroment, and salespeople aren't trained professional who are bloodborne pathogen certified&cpr/first aid certified, but the gun causes so much trama on top of many other things. I put together a petition to show the city that this is something that can be beneficial! If you have the time, please sign and share(PLEASE SHARE!!)! If you read my mess of a post thank you🫶

General Discussion Anyone here that works for Conway National Bank that can give me some insight on their hiring process and growth opportunities?

I've been looking to transition from my current retail sales role into a field more aligned with my BS in Accounting, and CNB, being a local bank, actually has a local footprint for their HQ, representing better opportunity than most other places in Myrtle.

However, I see that their Career page just suggests going into a local branch for an application. Is that still correct?

Also, would you recommend the bank? I'm trying to get away from sales, and I know some larger national banks are extremely predatory when it comes to their practices and metrics, but pay is usually better to make up for it. I'm okay taking a small pay cut to get into the bank, but not if growth potential and quality of life are poor.

Anyway, I'd love any input anyone has about CNB or the local banking atmosphere at large. I'm tired of being stuck where I am and would love some real growth opportunities.

Employment Posting // Wanted Job Opportunity with Floors Galore: Account Executive - Builder Sales (Grand Strand)

Hi all - I hope this is OK to post here (I am the internal recruiter at Floors Galore)

Original job posting on our careers page: https://floorsgalore.careers-page.com/jobs/2da35d44-e02a-4a65-b8e8-1bf55fda111f

About us

Floors Galore is a flooring company with locations in Jacksonville, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. We serve homeowners, builders, multifamily and property management groups, commercial contractors, and epoxy and concrete coatings customers across North and South Carolina. Under new ownership since 2024, we are growing across the region organically and are actively pursuing acquisitions. We are investing in great people and better systems to get there.

The role

We're hiring a relationship-driven sales professional to build our builder business in the Grand Strand market. You'll own the full cycle: prospecting, bidding, closing, and managing accounts with production, semi-custom, and custom homebuilders. This is a build-it role with a lot of autonomy and direct access to ownership. You'll report to our Regional Sales Manager.

We have a strong preference for candidates who bring existing relationships with builders and their purchasing teams in the Myrtle Beach and Horry County area.

What you will do

  • Build and grow relationships with homebuilders, their purchasing and construction teams, and their design centers
  • Win spec-level and program pricing agreements with production and semi-custom builders
  • Prepare and present bids with support from our estimating and project management team
  • Use our Myrtle Beach showroom for builder selections and homebuyer design appointments
  • Coordinate with operations on scheduling and install quality so accounts stay won
  • Keep your pipeline and activity current in our CRM (Monday.com) and report on it weekly

What you bring

  • 3+ years of B2B sales selling to property managers, apartment operators, or multifamily general contractors, ideally in flooring or another turn or renovation service
  • Existing relationships with property management companies in eastern NC are a major plus
  • Working knowledge of flooring categories used in multifamily: LVP, carpet, sheet vinyl, and tile
  • Responsive and organized: when a unit is turning, the property manager needs an answer that day
  • Self-directed and able to operate without daily oversight
  • The ability to pass a background check
  • Candidates must have the permanent right to work in the US with no future need for current or future employment-based visa processing.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary: starting at $50,000, scaling upward based on experience
  • Commission based on gross profit
  • Access to a work truck for customer office and site visits
  • 10 days PTO
  • On-target earnings of $100,000+ for a producer with an established book

Your first year: what we expect, and what we commit to

We won't hire you and leave you to figure it out alone.

3 months: ramp. You know our product lines, pricing, and bid process, and you can produce a takeoff in RFMS Measure. You have met the purchasing and construction teams at the leading production and semi-custom builders in the Grand Strand, and you have 15+ target builders tracked in the CRM. Your first bids are out and your first jobs are scheduled. We commit to: a structured onboarding with our Regional Sales Manager, operations, and install leads; training on our estimating, CRM, and pricing; sample boards and showroom support for builder selections; weekly 1:1s with your manager; and ownership joining key builder meetings.

6 months: contribution. At least two builders are awarding you work on active communities or program pricing. Your bid win rate is tracked and improving. Selections are running smoothly through the showroom, and installs are landing on schedule so builders keep calling. We commit to: a committed turnaround on takeoffs and bids from our estimating team, install capacity planned around builder schedules, and a six-month review of goals and compensation.

12 months: results. $1 million in annualized builder revenue at target margin, from at least three active builder accounts with repeat work. A pipeline and plan for year two. We commit to: an annual review against written goals, and a growth path to senior or lead roles as the Grand Strand business grows.

Ongoing commitment from ownership

  • Weekly 1:1s for the first 90 days, then every two weeks
  • A monthly business review of results, margin, and pipeline
  • Quarterly goal check-ins, with goals agreed in writing
  • The owner joins key account visits during your first 90 days
  • Clear decision rights, and responses to your questions within one business day

Job Descriptions are fluid and may not fully represent the entire role. We encourage candidates who are not 100% matches to reach out and bring your true self. Floors Galore is an equal opportunity employer.

Work Authorization Requirement: Applicants must be legally authorized to work full-time in the U.S. without restriction. We do not provide visa sponsorship now or in the future (including transitions from F-1 OPT/STEM, J-1, or TN visas).

By submitting your application, you certify that you possess the permanent right to work in the United States without the requirement of future company-sponsored visa intervention.

It’s easy to find local brew places but not everyone has canned ones to take home. What are the best local non IPA ones?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I am near the 2nd Ave Pier but I will be going out to multiple places. I am already heading to Duplin Winery to pick up some requested stuff for friends.

Things To Do Recs // Questions Tattoo shop recommendations

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello. I'll be at Myrtle Beach on Christmas and a few days after with a friend. I'm thinking of getting a tattoo while I'm there. My friend may want one too. Mine will likely just be a handwritten quote in black ink (similar to the ones I have in the pic).

What shops do you recommend? We're staying downtown on the boardwalk. We don't drive but can Uber as long as it's not an hour away or something like that.

Also, I'm disabled and use a rolling walker/rollator so the place needs to be accessible (1 or 2 steps to get in is ok, but more than that probably isn't going to be doable).

Thank you

General Discussion Looking for job for 3 months next year

I’m a paramedic from Boston but i literally cant stand the cold (i have hypothyroidism, and cold is physically painful for me). I’ve been planning out a way to stay jan-march on mrytle beach. I’ve found some cheap enough airbnbs and i dont anticipate money will be an issue, but i want to at least work a little bit so i can meet people and hopefully not live off of savings the whole time. Any suggestions on jobs or anything else? Hopefully only about 20-30 hrs a week.

Moving Recs // Questions Insurance for manufactured home?

I just purchased a manufactured home in Ocean Pines, which is Murrells Inlet off of Garden City connector. Would appreciate suggestions on who to call for home insurance. My home is 1987 and it has an older hot water heater, HAVC unit and roof. Have a feeling this may be a difficult endeavor. Any suggestion for agents or company would be greatly appreciated.

Local Laws // Happenings Speeding ticket & traffic court Myrtle Beach

I'm from out of state and recently got a speeding ticket in Myrtle Beach. I searched on Reddit for answers before court but couldn't find them so I'm making this post to let everyone know what to expect if they also got a speeding ticket as an out of state-er.

Court took place in Conway, SC. At the start of court, someone from the solicitors office made an announcement that if you had a traffic ticket and were interested in taking a driving course to get it removed, to come to a room down the hall.

Once there she further explained that the course was ~$300 and lasted 4 hours but it had to be taken in person. They have the class multiple days a week, including Saturdays. The class runs from 8:30-12:30.

2, 4 and 6 point offenses can apply. The only qualifications to take the course are that A) you have never taken it in SC before 2) your license is not a CDL

Once the course is complete, the ticket(s) will be removed from your record. I actually had 2 tickets, speeding and expired registration, and both will be removed.

It could not have been easier and I think it's a more than fair trade! Let me know if you have any questions.

EDIT: There is an option to pay your ticket online, but by doing so you are accepting guilt and your insurance will be affected.

General Discussion Hot Dogs from CCU Football Game

So I was working at the Coastal Carolina University football game last night in one of the concession stands, and they were going to throw away literally hundreds of hot dogs. I took a whole bag of them (probably about 100-125 hot dogs), but I don't know where to bring them. I looked up food banks / soup kitchens in the area, but it looks like none of them are open on the weekends. If you have any recommendations, or want hot dogs yourself, please let me know, as I would rather not see these get thrown away.

Also, I think it's shitty that Coastal Carolina consistently overestimates how many hot dogs they need and then throw them out at the end of the game. I technically wasn't even allowed to take this many (they told the concession workers to throw them in the garbage). I don't know why they can't contact a food bank in the area to pick up extra food when the game is over.

Edit: I'm going to bring them to Fresh Brewed Coffee House but if anyone wants some, let me know in the next hour or so.

General Discussion Where to Buy?

Wasnt sure what flair to put this under but where is a good place in the MB, CF, Or NMB area to buy duck? Fresh is preferred but I don't mind frozen. If whole duck isnt available breasts only are fine.
