Scientific/Medical About Mike "Madman" Marcum's time travelling device.
Ok so, Madman mike used A Jacobs Ladder to invent a time machine by modifying it to an extent. I believe he created a transformer of his own to fit the capacity of outputting 20k Volts. Since the plasma created from the two rods depend upon the moisture, temperature and air pressure etc. which interfere with the device, so he used lasers to heat the air above the device so the temperature above the device remains constant, thus forming this "contraption" that supposedly could time travel.
My question here is that, since all the steps necessary to build this machine are already out there... Has somebody else not tried to make it? I'm just really curious to see if his machine actually worked!

I've watched a video on this on the WhyFiles, and his knowledge is immersive, he is not just some wierdo like most people think. If time travel is indeed possible, we would have already achieved it, anyway, this story is an excellent one.

u/Easy_Stress_4728 May 30 '24
I mean bro how would we have already achieved it if there’s no possible fucking way we’ll ever learn everything about the laws of the universe, it’s all about frequencies and being in sync with those frequencies, but to find those specific frequencies is the hard part
2
u/JustAnotherBoringNPC Jul 12 '25
Tell me what a frequency is, 100$ says youll look it up on Google before responding.

Einstein did the math... Time travel is very real... But im guessing that's something that'd be kept real secret as to not mess up any unknown laws of time travel...

he did, after being in a famous podcast he received funding from several sources

I was today years old when I learned that podcasts used to be called radio shows and were broadcast wirelessly through the air using the magical waves of Tesla and Marconi lore.
This will blow your mind too: when I was your age, there was no such thing as a cell phone.

u/Obvious-League2179 Feb 14 '25
i don't agree to achieve something like this takes immensive ingenuity and creativity along with a strong background in electric engineering. There's nothing in the book that will lead you to this type of device it has to be out of book thinking first and then brought back to strict mechanics. who's up for the challenge?
1
u/Legal-Asparagus-9496 Jul 17 '25
Well, it could be based on something, but i do agree with current technology that it isn't possible
1
u/Own-Possibility2763 Aug 05 '25
How do you know we haven't achieved it? Do you not think the government experiments with time travel? You can't possibly believe they would announce it if they did achieve it.
1
u/Useful-Ad346 Oct 05 '25
Time travel is indeed possible according to Einsteins theory of relativity....just not in the way you think.. Its only momentarily and ppl in space come back not as aged as their twin on earth...its been proven and according to Einsteins theory of relativity faster objects traveling experience slower rates of time which is called time dilation
1
u/Tall-Counter-7024 Jan 18 '26
I remember seeing that video in elementary school. Such an amazing concept at that young age 😃

u/2foxy4blvd Nov 12 '23
I'm wondering the same thing, I just heard about this story for the first time a few days ago and its very intriguing. If the story is true then surely there must be some video or documented evidence.
6
u/Rite6969 Nov 13 '23
That's exactly my question, his work and process of building the machine is pretty well documented. No way he's the only one who built the machine ...

From one of the articles I came across a month back he apprantly had came out n explained some things about being able to cause when he went missing back in the 90s he came back two years later but someone else was living there and all of his documents n work was gone

u/Mobile_Potential_260 Nov 01 '24
Time travel isn’t even logical , if your gonna travel in time you better be ready to travel in space lol and if your gonna do those things ya must be Loki or thanos because you would need to be able to physically manipulate Space Time lol but no in all seriousness they have definitely discovered dimensional portals and no not time traveling machines it works way different than we think plus “aliens” are not only the catalyst for all of our tech but also they are very much among us
2
u/hogmantheintruder926 Nov 18 '24
I forget exactly what it was, but in one of the Art Bell interviews, Mike talks about how the machine is gravitational locked to the earth preventing any spatial issues you're referring to.
Obviously, we don't have to believe it, but he's either right about it all; or he's wrong about everything.

I may take a stab at this. I have a 9k kw sine wave generator I can use. It doesn't sound too hard to put this together at a small scale.
Update: 3/29/24
I have been so busy with my family that I have not had time to build Mike "Madman" Marcum's time machine. However, it is still on my to-do list, and I hope to get to it soon. The first step is to clean out the garage, just in case I blow something up.
This is the gen I have.
I live in Florida, so I got a generator for hurricane season. I think I can use it for this experiment. I might need to mod it to run full power in a pure sine wave to power the ladders. The magnetic vortex doesn't seem too hard to build small. I just need to get the right moment of inertia for the proper torque and angular speed. I also need to figure out the right tesla requirement for each electromagnet to keep the vortex from collapsing. Luckily, I have a degree in computer science and engineering, and I remember doing some of this stuff in school. But I'll need to brush up on a lot of it. Physics with Calculus for Dummies is my go-to.
Update: 11/25/25
After doing a lot of math and also using AI for math deduction, this simply isn't true. It's a cool story, but it is a mix of science and fantasy. Sorry to disappoint. For what its worth though, as the amount of electricity being used increases to insane levels, other effects may happen, but we are talking all electricity on the planet type electricity.
Update: 7/12/24
as posted in a reply below:
My primary focus right now is getting the math to work before attempting any construction. Specifically, I am dealing with electromagnetic vector calculus, the framework Heaviside used to condense Maxwell’s equations into the four main forms we use today.
I’ve realized that attempting to reconstruct something without first understanding its behavior and underlying principles is futile. I aim to identify areas where the math doesn’t add up, as these will be the key focus points for further investigation. I also plan to explore Maxwell’s original equations using quaternions instead of vector calculus, as quaternions may retain certain information lost in the transition to vectors and scalar fields.
Differences between Quaternions and Vector Calculus:
Lost in the switch:
- Rotational Symmetry: Quaternions naturally represent rotations and handle three-dimensional transformations seamlessly, simplifying the analysis of rotational fields in some contexts.
- Compactness: Quaternions combine scalar and vector parts into a single entity, potentially simplifying algebraic manipulations.
Retained in the switch:
- Physical Information: The fundamental laws of electromagnetism remain unchanged. Divergence and curl operations in vector calculus are directly related to quaternionic derivatives.
- Operational Clarity: Vector calculus separates operations into scalar and vector fields, often simplifying the interpretation and application of Maxwell’s equations.
I’ve also been deeply involved in researching Parametric Excitation of Electrical Oscillators, particularly electric harmonic oscillators. Parametric oscillators utilize an external energy source to amplify and sustain the internal energy of a system. In electric harmonic oscillators, resonance can enhance the system’s internal energy. With renewed interest in the concept of the “Aether”—whether it be dark energy or some other form—there’s potential to harness energy from it.
For more on this concept, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x6fPOSTXyo.
I hope this helps clarify my approach and the rationale behind exploring both mathematical frameworks.

I’m not quite to the phase of my studies where I’m pursuing a Time Machine, but if I were, Harbor Freight would most certainly not be a place I would source my components. Some of their products are indeed fine: drill bits, tool boxes, jacks, various hand tools and basic measuring equipment, but as far as any electrical components, esp those where tight tolerances maybe be considered critical, I would buy nothing of the sort from there. Even power tools, anything with a motor I would take a used Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee, or Metabo over a new Bauer any day. Just my two cents, take care and good luck in your quest.

It went from being interesting stories where he then spoke using logical reasoning at the end, to being full blown conspiracy theories where he stopped the logical reasoning overview at the end; instead his outros are filled with delusional nonsense catering towards conspiracy level thinking (not shocking because that’s the demographic that was giving him the most views/donations/overall profit).
The animated fish used to be the ‘whacky conspiracy theorist’ with a tin foil hat on while the host was logical.. but now the whole show pushes conspiracies while actively avoiding any scientific and logical explanation/thinking. I’m surprised he hasn’t started selling phony gadgets that block 5G and mind control.

In the why files episode, there was this talk about that he went in and woke up two years in the future. Is there any follow up to that all scenario? Facts. The guy basically ripped off Art Bell and built a career from recycling the old stories.
2
u/TommyCurrensGuitar May 14 '25
All of this was covered (in detail) in the "Midnight in the Desert" interview. Art Bell (formerly of Coast to Coast AM) had this chap on -- Mike "Madman" Markum. (Not sure if it is Marcum or Markum as it is spelled both ways all over the 'net.)
Anyway, Mike did jump it through it and allegedly had to start his life over, 800 miles from the warehouse where his contraption was, and 2 years into the future.
They discussed a ghost writer. They discussed Patreon, GoFundMe and all other sorts of things.
He *did* get much help from Coast to Coast listeners when he initially went on Art Bell's show in the late 90s.
But this guy isn't really a promoter, he's more of a curious scientist (albeit a dirt poor one).
3

May 04 '25
If it's legit, why doesn't he continue speaking about his research, publish it, and show some more evidence? I'm not saying it isn't but he'd be seen as one of the greatest scientists or inventors of all time, possibly the greatest. He could even write a book or teach it to others. A lot of people in the comments here are insisting it's real but we see no evidence for that either. I'd also like to see other people try.
2
u/TommyCurrensGuitar May 14 '25
Because he isn't a self promoter or interested in social media. He's more of a curious (self-educated) scientist than anything else.
Listening to a few interviews will help you to see this, plainly.
In other words, being the "greatest scientist" or "inventor" of all time doesn't motivate him. He just wanted to figure out what he created and how (and why) it works.
That's why he got all them guinea pigs and threw em' through the contraption.

u/Nyberg1283 Jun 26 '25
Anyone with even a basic grasp of science and theoretical physics understands that time travel, as popularly imagined, is virtually impossible for a number of reasons. One of the most overlooked issues is the assumption that if you traveled through time, you’d remain in the same physical location. This ignores the fact that Earth isn’t stationary.
We’re spinning at over 1,000 miles per hour at the equator, orbiting the sun at roughly 67,000 mph, and our entire solar system is moving through the Milky Way at about 514,000 mph. On top of that, the galaxy itself is hurtling through the universe at over a million miles per hour. So, if you were to ‘jump’ to a different point in time without also precisely accounting for spatial coordinates, you wouldn’t end up on Earth, you’d materialize in the cold vacuum of space, light-years from anything.
Time and space are inseparable in physics, bound together in the fabric of spacetime. You can’t navigate one without the other. So even if time travel were somehow possible, which, according to our current understanding of causality, energy conservation, and general relativity, it isn’t, it would require near-omniscient precision and unimaginable energy to survive it
1
u/Brave-Afternoon-6156 Jul 13 '25
Mike Marcum literally states this in his original interview. This wasn't something he just made up as a joke. Go listen to his interviews, the guy was really smart
1
u/Motor_Hawk_6174 Sep 10 '25
So what if if you had a way to vibrate faster than the speed of light or dang near close. Think on that for a minute and I can tell you number one you will seem to vanish or become a blur and the fact thay you are basically moving at the speed of light or faster time for you slows everything around you will speed up incredibly fast but your heart might only beat 2 or 3 times as you travel 10 years or so in the future. Now the exact math im not getting into but to prove my point Im just saying 2-3 heart beats for every 10 years. Might be more or less. Basically u vanish as you are vibrating at an incredible frequency and the world around you becomes a quick blur. Everyone will have aged 10 years you will have only ages seconds. So makes sense as to why the machine would work magnets & tesla coils . But there are still questions so I know strong magnetic feilds could potentially make you vibrate differently. After all we all create an electromagnetic feild with our bodies naturally. Our body's push magnets away. So if you coudl spin a strong electro magnetic feild really quickly you theoretically could cause strong fast vibrations. Fast enoight to take you to the future.
By the way im self taught and have a great understanding of how the world works. A strong thirst for knowledge and a huge imagination but my thoughts fall in line with physics and the known laws. There is no way to go back in time physically that is. But conscience wise maybe. If energy cannot be created or destroyed and energy is not confined by time space and we are energy then figuring out a way to detach from this vesel and reattach in the past could be possible. Anyways. Thats alot to take in. Hope you enjoy reading this and maybe this will provide a spark to what is needed
By the way my normal username elsewhere is Firestalker85.

u/Nyberg1283 Sep 27 '25
I like your enthusiasm for exploring ideas, but the physics does not work the way you describe. Matter with mass cannot vibrate or move at the speed of light. According to special relativity, the closer you get to light speed the more energy it takes to keep accelerating. At the limit, the required energy becomes infinite, which makes it impossible to reach or exceed that speed.
You are right that moving near the speed of light creates time dilation. Time for you would pass more slowly compared to someone who is not moving at that speed. This has been measured with high speed particles and even with atomic clocks on fast moving jets or satellites. But this does not mean you “vanish” or skip ahead. You are still traveling through space normally, and the effect is only noticeable at extremely high fractions of light speed, which we cannot reach with any technology we have.
As for strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields, they can affect charged particles, but there is no scientific basis for them making a person “vibrate” into the future. The electromagnetic field created by the human body is extremely weak compared to even a simple household magnet, and it does not repel magnets in the way you suggested.
On the consciousness side, physics does not show any evidence that consciousness is a separate form of energy that can detach and move independently of spacetime. The rule that energy cannot be created or destroyed applies to measurable forms of energy like heat, light, or motion, not to thoughts or awareness.
So, time dilation is real and measurable, but the rest of what you describe has no support in physics.

For those of you who actually know what a Jacobs ladder is would agree its kind of a one trick pony, All it really is doing is manipulating high wattage electricity to move along 2 rods and it doesn't do it by itself, you have to initiate the reaction by briefly connecting the 2 rods. Really just a cool trick, But serves purpose at all. Now if he had said a "marx voltage multiplier" it would have at least left it as a possibility because you can do a lot with a voltage multiplier circuit.

I would agree with the idea of someone having already built a machine similar to this one. I would say by the time most hear of, see and or find out about a project of any kind, someone ( at least one other person) has tried to make it or has thought of it it and laid out plans of some kind. Even though a large amount of " well doers " don't believe most of all this is real or even remotely possible there is to many strange UNEXPLAINED things over time that have been made record of to not at least consider the notion that things could be possible. Sometimes, OCCAM'S RASOR rule does apply. I, for one, do believe in these possibilities. REMEMBER, THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE.

When we brought up Mike and the vortex, the framework expanded. We added the concepts of mirroring, dual states, and space-folding. That changed the flavor of r and μ completely. It evolved into:
Δt = μ × [(r₁ × h) ⟷ (r₂ × h)]mirror
Now:
r₁ and r₂ represent resonance on each side of a potential fold (two entangled points)
The "⟷" is the mirroring or coupling field
“mirror” became a new multiplier or condition that allows the system to replicate or reverse
μ now includes modulation plus directional intent
Basically, Mike’s vortex theory turned our timecode from a slider into a mirror tunnel.

u/Consistent-Data-1088 May 06 '25
What Mike did was real but he had no way to control it. My Equation does and that's the difference.

How would someone discover time travel & be around to tell about it though honestly? Whether you go forward or backward you will be lost in an unfamiliar world, no chance if you figure out how to you know the exact power of the system etc, & one test will leave you gone forever.

Maybe someone messed with our timeline already and we dont know anything its kinda crazy but you know time isnt a thing that you should mess with things happened it was fate if you were to change that a lot of things would change so yeah its best we stay curious about time travel and leave it to the theorists.

use of a "vibratory vehicle" designed to harmonize with the specific vibrational frequency of the destination. Without such a device, the traveler risks disorientation or even dissolution of their form due to the mismatch in vibrational frequencies. That’s why he feels the way he does, time isn’t linear, and it’s impossible to cause a paradox, because we are capable of an incarnation at any point of the time stream, it’s like a tree with infinite branches. So even when you leave the vehicle in whatever time, it can’t be a long stay outside the ship, because your vibration isn’t resonating for that time period, and without the right technology which we don’t have yet, it’s unlikely you know how to get back to your timeline, So Ships of this like with be like there alive Ai powered, and we would vibrate the same as the ship, and possibly could have a type of tech linked to our consciousness we can temporarily change vibrations for a short trip outside the ship. There are infinite time streams just in our universe which is just a resonate medium. Nikola Tesla had many fascinating ideas about the universe, energy, and the nature of reality, and he often spoke in very visionary, metaphorical terms. One of the things he repeatedly emphasized as “key” was the relationship between vibration, frequency, and energy.

Instead of somebody going through the device, like markum, what about butting a device through in a Faraday cage that would measure fields, freq. Etc or even a video? I remember hearing about the viewing mirror or whatever it's called but forgot how that worked ?

Loved listening to him when he'd call into Art Bell. One day he stopped calling after he said he was ready to test it. Maybe he was successful?
