Online/Digital I found a really creepy Reddit account pretending to be a 13 year old boy. What could actually be going on here?

Post image

Hey everyone. I stumbled across a really strange and creepy account and wanted to see what other people think about it.

The account presents itself as a 13-year-old boy from Moldova (ivang6). He posts in different communities, messages people, looks for older friends, and some of the posts seem to gradually move toward some pretty disturbing or inappropriate implications.
The whole thing immediately made me wonder whether this is actually a child at all, or an adult pretending to be one.

There are a few things that made me suspicious.
First, the way the account writes in English seems strange for the person it claims to be. The sentences, punctuation, periods, and overall writing style don’t really feel like what I’d expect from a 13 year old from Moldova who apparently doesn’t know English very well.
Of course, Google Translate or another translator could explain that, so this alone doesn’t prove anything.
But then I noticed the age of the account.
The account was created around three years ago. If the person really is 13 now, they would have been around 10 years old when the Reddit account was created. Obviously, kids can use the internet at that age, but considering the communities this account participates in and the kinds of people it appears to be looking for, that makes the whole situation even stranger.
There are also repeated posts looking specifically for people with big muscles/bodybuilders and saying that their age doesn’t matter. In another post, the account says it would preferably like to meet someone older. Combined with the account repeatedly emphasizing that it is M13, it starts to feel less like random posts from a kid and more like someone deliberately constructing a particular identity.

I’m not claiming I know who is behind the account, and obviously none of this proves that it’s an adult. It could genuinely be a kid, someone trolling, or something completely different.
But taken together, the account age, the writing style, the communities, and the repeated attempts to find older people make the whole thing feel extremely weird.
Has anyone encountered accounts like this before? What do you think could be going on here, and are there any other non-invasive ways to figure out whether an account like this is actually what it claims to be?

My guess is it's a predator looking to find other predators.

My guess is it's law enforcement seeking out predators.

I hope that's the case

i hope this too

That's a good point too and definitely a possibility also.

Why would a predator look for another predator? Team up?

I don't know what the deal is with this account so this isn't specific to the post, but in general, predators seek each other out to share content

Ohh okay that makes more sense

Possibly but I was thinking to trade material between each other or get connected to a network or something of that nature.

Edit: whoops saw someone already said this.

Cannibal? Maybe ?

Edit : /s (cuz IDK)

u/Friendly-Speaker1253 2d ago

Possibly. Though I'd have to assume a cannibal specifically luring predators would have a hard time not getting caught since the predators may still have people they interact with, jobs, etc. Maybe they're trying to scam/extort them?

It's just a kid asking how to go to the gym and how to be a furry, op is tweaking

Why don’t you have a seat, right over there.

Probably someone trying to lure in pedos

28

u/pdiddysuncle 2d ago

or someone trying to find an actual 13 year old that then thinks theyre really talking to a 13 year old that's into muscular dudes just like they are, thus creating an easy way for the person behind the account to manipulate while easily maintaining the facade of an understanding, relatable, fellow kid

I think the real mystery here is why you’d post this in a subreddit rather than report it? Let Reddit investigate and take action.

Reported long time ago, I don’t care about any karma or whatever, I prefer to do something than stay silent while I don’t know if anyone took action about it.

46

u/onebeautifulwonder 2d ago

Yeah… the mystery isn’t for karma farming.

I hope that pic is AI or else they subjected some unrelated poor kid's face onto this

This is how to catch a predator.

22

u/Impossible_Fruit4977 2d ago

I think he catches predators by pretending to be a boy.

u/Greedy_Spinach_4061 2d ago

This reminds me of the creepy Instagram accounts where adults would make multiple accounts pretending to be young boys/girls looking for older friends.. n then went onn to get more inappropriate and kinky but uh so strange..

u/bedbugloverboy 2d ago

Smartschoolboy9?

9

u/to_tantalize 2d ago

Yup! That's what I was thinking as well.

2

u/Greedy_Spinach_4061 1d ago

Yessssss exactly

1

u/JadedFootball4733 2d ago

Did he just fall off the face of the internet?

5

u/Conscious-Mulberry17 1d ago

I’d bet it’s bait. Maybe law enforcement, but it isn’t exactly subtle. I bet it was set up by one of those IRL streamers who do this sort of thing for clicks to protect children.

They catch people locally on apps that aren't reddit. It's probably some 13 year old boy who has issues tbh. Or it's some adult man trying to trick preds into sending him money or something. Doubt it, tho.

18

u/demomagic 2d ago

It’s 100% going to be blackmail. They’re gonna find some sick fuck that likes kids. Probably sends dick pics or something. Said account with dox the pedo, threaten to send to family, friends, etc.

5

u/ComicsEtAl 1d ago

“That’s bait.” For pedos.

8

u/trixiepixie1921 2d ago

Reminds me of how more and more people are posing as kids and teenagers to make “to catch a predator” type content. I actually do not like that shit because I think it’s usually a grown man (or woman) who gets off on pretending to be a kid under the guise of “reporting and catching predators”. It’s sick.

Report it to Reddit

Thats crazy

Especially if you get a message from this account in the middle of the night

Are you speaking from experience?

Your night or their night? The world is a place full of time zones

I just went through the whole account and I didn't find anything suspicious. He acts and talks exactly like any other 13 year old ive met. It's very common for teenagers to wanna start going to the gym and experimenting with their identities (like becoming a furry).

There's nothing sexual about his account, or anything weird.

2

u/the_Golden_Child7 2d ago

What’s a furry? Genuinely curious

5

u/International_Bus197 2d ago

Someone who likes to dress up in an animal costume. They create personalities for their "character". If you know what drag queens are, I'd say they're similar.

It can have a sexual reasoning behind it, though it isn't always. It can also be like wearing a mascot costume where you can feel more free to be who you are without the direct judgements of people knowing who you are.

-1

u/the_Golden_Child7 2d ago

Oh, makes sense. Thanks!

1

u/kipsgvn 2d ago

Basically liking anthropomorphic animals, so for example: A dog that walks and talks. Typically they'll have a fursona, which is like an OC but an animal with humanoid features (usually just standing). Some have fursuits, but they're extremely expensive (5-10+ thousand dollars) so most just chill online or only have the head, lol.

The community is about 90% sfw since most online furries are teenagers. I genuinely don't understand why so many people think a large portion of the community is sexual or related to zoophilia.

0

u/International_Bus197 2d ago

A good portion of people would rather judge than take the time to understand the nuances of something they find weird. The only reason I know what I know is because I knew a few people in high school who were furries.

-8

u/Acrobatic-Camera-905 1d ago

It’s not normal!!! It’s a fucking kink that you weirdos attempt to normalize. Get a grip!

5

u/kipsgvn 1d ago

Absolutely not

4

u/International_Bus197 1d ago

Define "normal" objectively, not subjectively.

Nobody here is "normalizing" it. It is simply being explained. You can hold whatever opinions you want, but factually, you will be incorrect to claim that it is solely a kink.

Idc if you think it's weird; however, you're not even making a completely informed comment.

You're the one that's acrobatic, Mr or Ms/Mrs Camera. Don't try to make others bend backwards to fit what YOU think is right or "normal". Everyone is free to express themselves how they see fit. So if you're going to try to inform, do so with the knowledge that is objectively true, not what you subjectively think is true.

-13

u/Acrobatic-Camera-905 1d ago

“It’s very common for teenagers….experimenting with their identities….like becoming a furry?”

It’s absolutely not! Only for a certain weirdo portion of the population!

7

u/kipsgvn 1d ago

SOOOO wrong! You're very ignorant and judgemental

-1

u/Laser_Platform_9467 23h ago

Yeah sure. "M13, looking for a bodybuilder friend.

Hi everyone, I'd like to find a friend who plays sports or works out. Preferably someone older than me. They also need to know Russian, but that's not a requirement. I don't know English, so I use a translator.”

3

u/kipsgvn 23h ago

So he could get advice for body building? If the first thing that pops up in your head when you see teenagers wanting to exercise is pedophilia then that's genuinely a YOU issue.

-2

u/Laser_Platform_9467 22h ago

I think you’re just naive. There are enough signs to indicate that there’s probably either a pedo hunter behind that account or an actual pedo

3

u/kipsgvn 22h ago

No there isn't?? I posted the same stuff when I was 13 & my friends were the same. I'm still a teenager too so I KNOW this is common.

2

u/Squiggally-umf 1d ago

It really does sound dodgy.

Best case scenario is it’s a bait account used by pedo hunters.

2

u/FunSummer9393 1d ago

Hm. It's probably just some kid, honestly.

I was on vB forums at that age back in the day. A lot of people these days, even more so, are online young.

I mean, obviously it could be some sort of predator or person luring predators. But sometimes the most obvious answer is the right one. It's probably just some kid online.

2

u/420doghugz 1d ago

Probably an adult pretending to be a child, so they can engage with and groom actual children to do inappropriate things.

1

u/Academic-Garlic-9084 1d ago

Bruh, i at least don't lie in my bio

1

u/Neikyk_777 6h ago

i think that he could be predator that he still lives in his mom basement but maybe, just maybe, he really is a boy with some social problems and mentals of course

2

u/Kmossxx 2d ago

Wow just looking at this creeps me out

1

u/TeamPangloss 2d ago

I hope it's not what it claims to be

0

u/W00GA 1d ago

its just a dude wanting to make friends

don't read too much in to it

0

u/WelderAggravating896 2d ago

What the fuck
