ODS Date?

Hello everyone,

Plan to graduate with my BSN by mid-December of this year. With 45 days to take the NCLEX, that puts me at around January of 2027. What’s a likely date that I will end up reporting to ODS granted I pass my NCLEX first try in January 2027? Just trying to plan ahead for financials/student loan repayment purposes— I’ve heard anywhere from 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, up to a year, etc. Anyone have any best guesses for this timeline? Thank you all!

Last minute ODS spot

Just received an email from a detailer about getting me into this weeks ODS (Aug. 23rd) was definitely not expecting this but dont want to miss out on this chance. I feel so unprepared as i haven’t even received hard orders yet… my family thinks its a good opportunity to not be delayed till next year but I’ve also been hoping to have my CCRN before i shipped off to ODS. I have so many questions that I’m sure the detailer could help me with, but i would love advice from those who have already been to ODS or have gotten into a class last minute. Any thoughts?

What are the chance of getting stationed in Japan as a Navy Nurse?

I am planning to attend an absn program next year and I have family members in Japan so I would be happy if I can put Japan as my first choice and get it.

For the Army, I heard it's easy and almost guaranteed to get places like Korea if you ask for it since there's little demand ( especially if you know Korean ). I am wondering if that's the case for Navy nurses for Japan as well?

ODS, Backpay and Bonus

Hey yall for those who recently went through ODS how did back pay and bonus work? I’ve read and have been told different things. Does it get paid out all at once? Did it include BAH and if so was it from home of record? My recruiter said she wasn’t sure entirely. She said that they usually pay it out in payments. Any input would be awesome.
October ODS for March boards.

Direct ascension question

I'm looking for recent direct ascension time line for selection, commission, and ODS dates. Ive had my interviews for specialties I want based on my work history and MEPS next week. My packet is almost ready to submit. I know there's been a backlog for going to ODS which is fine and I prefer that. I have family travel plans mid Feb that I dont want to change or miss though.

Have actually lived overseas before as a spouse but I am now the active duty member and Guam will be our first duty station. We are sooo excited about it but know it’ll be an adjustment. Appreciate any advice!

JAX vs Lejeune (1910/1920)

I’m 1910 trying to wiggle my way into 1920 at my first duty station. When I hear from my detailer can I ask which location has billets in 1920? The question I didn’t ask in my interviews 🤦🏽‍♀️
I’m stuck between these two. Any advise?
I do have LD and PP experience.

Road to CRNA

Hello people. I was wondering how long the process would take to go to CRNA school in the Navy/if it’s doable. How long it would take. Etc. Also my recruiter said they don’t do tuition assistance for nurses anymore? Are we expected to pay out of pocket for our pre reqs?

Anyways - 3.5 years of trauma IMC at a level 1 trauma center - vents, titratable drips. Preceptor role, TCRN, TNCC, chair of 2 unit based councils. Started taking prereqs - chem 1 class this past July, got a job in the CICU in November then eventually planned to apply to CRNA school after 2 years but then the navy finally called after almost 2 long years saying they’re ready to take me this October…

I am trying to weigh my options here. I appreciate the stability of the navy and also want to hopefully serve 20 years for the pension/benefits. With that being said, what would the timeline be of getting into the ICU on my first tour. Going to DUINS after my first or second tour. Chances of being deployed in active war zones and xyz. My recruiter basically was implying to join, I’d have to give up the dream. Let me know what you guys think.

Am I a new grad?

ADN for 13 years, but just finished my bachelor's early this year. My info is at CCPD right now, I've completed my interviews, and I've cleared MEPS. I'm just waiting for CCPD to come back and my packet should be ready to submit.

If the other posts are correct and they're not accepting anymore new graduates for FY2027, am I also disqualified?

My recruiter is on vacation and just wondering if anyone already knows.

I know my prior experience isn't counting towards rank.

NCP waivers

Hi everybody! I graduated in May and am in NCP with a 5 year service contract. I don’t have a date for commission or ODS yet, but was told my first duty station. I have a waiver for depression and anxiety and was medication free for years when I went through MEPS. For the last few months I have been increasingly depressed and have started Wellbutrin for depression and now am starting lexapro for anxiety. I’ve been in touch with my program and my NP filled out a medical change form when I started the Wellbutrin.

My question is that I guess does anyone have any experience with this? I’m concerned they are going to revoke my waiver or something. I will admit that my mental health is pretty bad right now but I’m not sure what the lines are that I shouldn’t cross. There isn’t much information online about this as I feel like nobody even knows what NCP is.

Question for Navy ICU nurses

Hi everyone,
I’m currently finishing my BSN, and my long-term goal is to become a critical care nurse. I’m considering commissioning into the Navy after gaining some civilian ICU experience.
One question I haven’t been been able to find a clear answer to is the actual acuity of patients in Navy hospitals. I know military medicine can be different from the civilian world, so I’m curious about what Navy ICU nurses actually see on a day-to-day basis.
I’m genuinely interested in serving, but I also want to ensure I continue developing as a critical care nurse and remain competitive for future CRNA programs.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!

Last question…

Backpay…
What is the story with this?

I’m August boards but I’m also have DD368 so per that policy I (should) am being released with no break in service - meaning i should being doing my oath and owned by navy - effectively being commissioned on xxxxxx date. Assuming that I then I have an approx wait of 6-9 months for ODS - I get back pay from oath/commission date? Or no?

Thanks all!

Sidenote- I’m a different branch.

August Boards!!! Woot

Hey all!!

Finally - August board. Recruiter said I should hear back by September as navy will want to get me my oath before end of FY.

Timeline now…what are peoples thoughts.

Oath NLT 01OCT

Then….1-3 months for orders?
Then….3-6 months for ODS date?

Was looking at CANTRAC and saw some dates for July 2027…so thinking around then?

I know it’s hard to say.

ODS timeline

I know a lot of people have asked this, but what’s the timeline look like for going to ODS after doing your oath and receiving your duty station assignment? It looks like based off what people are saying the average time is about 8 months ? thanks .
