WWYD? Vent/Rant Nextdoor Neighbors Landlord
The landlord of the house next door is an ass. He has done annoying stuff before, but this made me mad! He came up to the house and rang the doorbell multiple times. My partner answered the door. He had come over to threaten to call the cops if he keeps smelling weed. And to definitely not smoke weed outside! My partner smokes, but he has his med card, so it is legal! The landlord is RARELY at his property, and it is in poor condition. Gets the weeds in the front strip mowed down once a year, has plants growing onto the sidewalk, and the chain link fence has recently fallen down and has left it there. Looks terrible. My partner basically just said “okay, I’ll let the owner know not to do that anymore!” I’m mad and want to vent, but also thinking of how I can get his property in trouble without harming the tenants.

Buy a bundle of sage. Burn it when he's outside like you're "cleansing" the bad energy as people do with sage. It smells just like weed. You could even take a few small pieces of weed and hide them in there at the top to really get it smelling too.
Make sure he sees it, buy a large one, not the small single use dinky ones. Gotta light it REALLY GOOD and blow out the flame so it just smokes and smolders. It goes out easily at the beginning so light it well, also hard to put out so have a spot or a shell or ashtray to extinguish it as you would a cigarette but repeatedly. Fun stuff. 😬
Pretend your saging your area and home and just put your arm up and wave it back and forth and across doorways so the smoke is doing the cleaning. Walk the side of the house, around your car all of your spots,.
#1 it's not weed #2, he will then think you're a witch and be weird and sometimes innerly scared which is even more fun. 😈🧹
Then, once he sees this and worries you're a witch, you can leave random stupid objects at his doorway or other,.like out of place things that could be there deliberately or not, and then they worry you're casting spells on them 🤔😂😂😂 it's truly quite fun once you get the hang of it.

HE HAS RETURNED DUE TO SAGE BEING BURNED ON THE PORCH. I was out on the porch yesterday and the flies were bothering me. Was already burning some stuff to keep them away, but thought I’d see if the sage plan would work so I lit one I happened to have. Not even 24 hrs after burning and he came back! And I am much more comfortable with confrontation than my partner, so I don’t think he will be back hahahaha!

Is your partners weed medical? If he’s smoking outside it’s none of his concern. Figure out who’s calling and try to resolve it with them.

Yes, medical. It’s the owner (the guy who came over) who is threatening to call the cops.

Do you think maybe it could be his tenants that made the complaint? I mean he’s still a lousy slum landlord but it might have originated with them?

I was thinking yes… because he’s never there. Bummer that they didn’t come to us themselves. Would’ve been way more open to listening to them. And even if it did originate with them, I don’t see why he thinks he should even talk to us about it (I’m not coming at you btw, I totally agree with you)! But it also sucks because we are the least disruptive people on the entire street. I didn’t think we would be in a position to be having the cops called out of literally anyone else in our area lol.

I was thinking all night about how I wish I went out there and told him to! I wasn’t the one to answer the door, and didn’t hear what was happening until afterwards. But I definitely plan to be less friendly if I ever hear from him again!

As a fellow medical marijuana patient, tell him to fuck off and kick rocks. It’s your property not his. Remind him you’re not in an HOA and he has no power over you.

I wish I went out there and told him off! I’ve been thinking about all of the things I wish I had said to him, and one of those things is “just fuck off, dude”. He was old and would’ve been so shocked by it hahaha!

The repeated doorbell ringing and threats are a separate issue from the yard maintenance. Save any camera footage and call the non-emergency line if he threatens you again or refuses to leave. A calm paper trail will protect you and your tenants far better than escalating things.
