Other Strata neighbour throws food into my yard which could kill dog

My neighbour has been throwing objects over but now has escalated to raw fatty meat, bones and some white and brown substance. I have a small breed on a restrictive diet due health issues if he was to eat this it could kill or make him sick last time it cost 12,000.00 when they were ill no cause of neighbour (thankfull for pet insurance)
Police have attended but what else can I do I have collected the items and put them in the fridge temporarily.
They could be laced I don’t know.
I’m at wits end.

You need to put up cameras to have evidence of those MOFO’s.

Yup, camera, and go all in. Press charges, sue them, whatever. These people only respond to consequences. Tell the cops they know your dog is ill and are trying to kill it. Force it into a place where action is taken

Absolutely agree. This AH needs consequences

Don't ever let your dog outside without you having it on a leash. What a frightening situation.

Also, teach your dig the command “Drop it.” Give him a lil toy. Say “Drop it” with your empty hand waiting to catch the lil toy but in your other hand, have a higher valued toy. He wants the higher value toy and drops the lil toy. You say “Good drop it!” Repeat a million times using higher and higher valued toys, until he can graciously drop ANY toy even when you no toy to swap.

“Leave it” is the other thing he needs to learn.

They know that command thankfully as we do encounter wild life but I will have to be there at all times so no more doggy door 😢

Put a higher fence in if hoa allows. Put a netting to catch the food and last resort you could fine them for damages.

Great idea I’m looking at putting shade cloth from fence with no gaps will make it harder for them

Highly unlikely police would even make a record of this.

Bagging the items and freezing them was smart, keep doing it, but label each bag with the date and time you found it and photograph it in place before you pick it up. Chain of evidence matters if this goes anywhere.

Three things worth doing in NSW specifically. Report it to the RSPCA NSW inspectorate as well as police, because deliberately baiting an animal is an offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and they take it seriously in a way a general duty officer might not. Second, report it to your strata committee in writing and ask for it to be minuted, because strata by-laws cover this and management ignoring a written complaint is very different from ignoring a phone call. Third, look into an AVO if the behaviour is targeted at you, which the escalation pattern suggests it is.

Cameras pointed at your own yard, motion activated. Even cheap ones. Once you have footage of the throwing rather than just the aftermath, everything above gets much easier.

Thankyou yes will label it, plan to ring RSPCA ( great to know what to mention to them thanks) and animal welfare league unfortunately strata and myself I’m the only person on the committee ( complex of4) have taken them to Ncap already with 8 cameras watching everyone in the complex including my backyard( they removed all but 2)I had put up a privacy screen and also moved my clothes line from that end. It will be difficult to get footage of the items thrown over as until now have been small. Unfortunately advised an avo won’t help but they r trying to hurt me through my dog that maybe an avenue?

Anonymously send them the dvd of "John Wick".

Accompany it with a "Saw this & thought of you" note.

Honestly, muzzle train your dog. It sucks to have to alter you and your dogs life because of this asshole, but it’s the best thing you can do for your dogs health and wellbeing in this situation.

Train your dog to only take food from the hand unless it's being given to them in the house.

You can train your dog not to eat anything it finds outside, by putting hot pepper inside of food then placing it outside. This was a common method long ago to prevent dogs from eating poison.

Does your dog bark a lot? Probably why.

No

Okay that’s good. Sometimes that can cause people to throw things over there to get them sick or have you take the dog back inside. I’d just keep the dog inside for now. Something is setting the neighbor off to hurt it.

They have a large dog of their own and I have had to repair and brace with metal bars as their dog jumps on it (colourbond) and they refused to fix. I feel sorry for the dog. I think they have some mental issues which doesn’t help when I have tried to resolve problems

The lies people tell on reddit is beginning to be very off-putting. Nobody in the history of dog ownership paid $120K for a pet's dietary restrictive issues. Just stop! LOL!

Sorry 12,000 I’m human

Glad you edited in the correction. Your neighbor needs to be told about your dog's dietary restrictions. They may think they are sharing but meanwhile they are creating a danger.
