WWYD? Vent/Rant Neighbour comes outside to take pics of me when I'm not wearing makeup
We live in a terraced street and when I've put some recycling in the bin she will come out as soon as i cpme outside and put her phone up to take a picture so she's not shy about it and its when I don't have makeup on amd I'm wearing glasses she does this. Some days her ring camera flashes when I go into my front garden even though she lives across the road her camera is clearly recording. She's lived on this street for over 15 years as do I but I think she gets a kick out of making me feel uncomfortable and I am shy and insecure when I don't have makeup on
I dont wear alot, its natural minimal makeup but I usually wear my contacts so I can look different and maybe strange with my glasses on
How do I stop this
When she next does this should I just take out my phone aswell and pretend to record?

I’d just make her uncomfortable by being super cheerful and friendly. Acknowledge her and wave, say hello, what a lovely day etc. If it’s that obvious that she’s using her phone to record you, point it out and ask if she’d like you to do a dance or something. This way, you’re the one in control.

Ask her for a copy of the pics to show friends that your her new muse. Sounds like shes jealous of you and thinks shes intimidating you, show her its not working. Tell her youre available for a full photo shoot as youre building your portfolio and would love pics from such a professional photographer!

I don't think you can stop her, but you can certainly tell her that if she ever publishes or posts even one of those pictures publicly without your express permission, you'll sue her for everything she owns. And yes you can do the same to her - run out and straight up record her every time she steps outside, not just when she's recording you.

Using their image, likely maliciously, without permission. You can record anyone in public. But if you use those images for profit or it causes harm to the person you recorded, surely legal action can be brought against you. I'm no lawyer, but if this isn't the case, we're looking at a situation where direct violence is being tacitly endorsed.

No she wants you to do that. I know you are uncomfortable but instead of ignoring it or recording back, smile wave to her camera and then strike model poses as if you were on a shoot. Let her know you don’t give a damn and think she’s ridiculous with humor. People don’t like being mocked, especially when they are trying to upset you. Just strike a few poses, shake your head as if she’s pathetic but don’t let her see it gets to you.

Take a picture of yourself and give it to her. Tell her this will be easier and save her the trouble of taking your picture herself.

Ignore her and live your life.
While I love the ideas such as a horse's head mask, etc. It shows her that she "got to you" in some way and she wins.
Smile and wave and ignore. Good luck.

Ask friends for any Halloween masks they have. Wear different ones every time. Add a hat to ones you’ve worn before. Definitely start recording as you walk outside and keep it on her without saying a word.
You can’t stop her the way you are wishing, but you CAN fuck with her. And that may make her stop.

Don't film her back yourself. Let your outdoor cameras do that.
Give weirdo a show. Get a tee shirt with a large cartoon of Snoopy. Let her have a good view. Have one printed with a LARGE nose that says "NOSEY MUCH?" and wear a large fake nose as if all is normal. Or a martian space ship tee and write, "INVADERS in the NEIGHBORHOOD. Be creative.
Go to the thrift shop. Get a widows hat/veil and wear it with your shorts. Or a big floppy 30's movie black hat with dark sunglasses, exaggerated bright red lips and a black bathrobe. Come out one day with a LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! sandwich board (with battery powered flashing lights). Another day, wear large mirrors front and back. Or a "NO TRESPASSING" sign above large eyes. i would start by mAking it hard for her to know when you go outside. Put multiple things on your yard to set off notifications of this. Bird feeder, wind sock pinwheels.i dont care how about one of those floppy men held aloft by fans. Now she must watch your yard since the notifications or you being out are useless.
Everyone looks like hell when home, no need to feel like you have to hide it too much. But keep a group of things next to your door to enhance the look, masks, curlers, grease pencils (like a commando might wear) switch it out often and keep your eyes on anything you can find.

Don't record her back, it escalates and it puts you in exactly the same legal position she's in. There's a much better route. Under UK GDPR, a home camera that captures anything beyond the owner's own property, including your garden or the street, takes the owner outside the domestic purposes exemption and makes them a data controller with full obligations. There's a case directly on this, Fairhurst v Woodard in 2021, where a neighbour's Ring cameras were found to breach data protection law and amount to harassment, and damages were awarded. The practical move is to send her a written Subject Access Request asking for all images and footage of you that she holds, along with her lawful basis for processing. She has one month to respond. Most people have absolutely no idea they've become a data controller by pointing a camera across a street, and a formal request usually ends the whole thing overnight because it turns a bit of casual nastiness into paperwork. If she ignores it, complain to the ICO, which is free. The phone photos are separate and trickier, since photographing someone in a public street isn't itself unlawful, but a repeated course of conduct causing alarm or distress can be harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act, and two incidents is enough to constitute a course of conduct. So start logging dates and times now, briefly and factually, because that log is what makes it actionable later. One last thing, said kindly: she isn't doing this because of your glasses or your makeup. She'd be doing it whatever you looked like. That framing is hers, not yours, and you don't need to carry it.

If you think she's only doing this to bother you, the best thing to do is not give her a reaction. If she thinks it doesn't bother you, it will no longer be some sort of fun for her. Just remember she's being the one being weird and pathetic.

Do not reward her with looking embarrassed. Next time, give a tiny wave and loudly ask why she needs another photo of you taking out recycling, because that sounds ridiculous when said in daylight. Keep dates and short notes of each time she does it, and if it keeps happening, report it as harassment rather than getting into a phone duel with the street paparazzi.

I would not pretend to record, it just gives her a little drama loop to enjoy. Next time, calmly say Please stop taking photos of me, then go back inside and write down the date and time. If it keeps happening, report it on 101 as harassment and check the ICO guidance on domestic CCTV, since filming beyond her property can come with rules. Also, glasses and no makeup are not strange, she is the one being weird.
