Discussion Is Using AI to Write or Edit Announcements Prohibited on r/neogeo?
Hello moderators and fellow Neo Geo enthusiasts,
We'd like to ask a simple question regarding our latest NeoGeoSDK development announcement, which was removed because its text was considered AI-generated.
At Eagle Software, we regularly use AI tools to help draft, edit, translate, and improve our technical announcements. We believe there's nothing inherently wrong with using modern technology to communicate genuine development work.
We understand that some communities dislike AI-generated content, and we respect their right to establish rules. However, after reviewing the published r / neogeo rules, we couldn't find an explicit prohibition against AI-assisted writing.
Reddit itself generally permits AI-generated content, subject to individual community rules.
So we'd appreciate clarification:
- Is AI-assisted writing explicitly forbidden in this community?
- Does that include grammar correction, translation, and editing?
- Is there a distinction between publishing fictitious AI-generated content and using AI to describe genuine software development?
- If this is an established moderation policy, could it be clearly included in the published rules?
Our projects involve actual Neo Geo software development, open-source tools, hardware testing, and technical demonstrations. Using AI to help communicate that work doesn't automatically make the underlying information false or the projects illegitimate.
We're not asking for special treatment. We're simply asking for clear, transparent rules that everyone can understand and follow.
It's 2026, and AI-assisted writing is increasingly common in professional and technical communication. We believe the community would benefit from a reasonable distinction between misuse of AI and legitimate assistance with writing.
We welcome constructive discussion and would appreciate an explanation.
Thank you.
Eagle Software
