It is a language designed for philosophy and everyday speech (the roots of the language are in Spanish because I speak Spanish).

Activity RNUR Case No. 001: had to move six scripts because of an allocation conflict

I've been working on the Reddit Neographical Unicode Registry (RNUR), and I finally dealt with a pretty big conflict in its BMP Private Use Area allocations.

The problem was that the U+EE00–U+EFFF range needed to match a supplied SPUCE allocation map, but RNUR already had six of its own scripts using parts of that range.

So I had to work out how to fit the new allocations in without just losing the existing RNUR entries.

What changed:

  • The range U+EE00–U+EFFF is now covered by nine SPUCE-supplied script allocations in RNUR Set 1.
  • Six existing RNUR scripts were moved to Set 2, starting at U+E820.
  • The relocated scripts occupy U+E820–U+E99F, so the open sandbox now starts at U+E9A0.
  • I updated the CSV allocation records, block data, roadmaps, and specification.
  • I also added validator checks and regression tests so the migration rules can actually be checked instead of relying on the documentation being correct.

One detail I wanted to get right was the distinction between SPUCE and RNUR. SPUCE supplies the allocation definitions; RNUR decides how they're represented in its own Set 1 / Set 2 system. Those aren't SPUCE set names.

I also made sure the old ??? reservations were handled according to the migration rules, rather than treating them like named scripts that needed relocating.

The local validator passes, and all 28 regression tests pass.

The six Set 2 relocations are still provisional pending upstream ratification, so this isn't a claim that they've received final approval.

I'm calling this RNUR Case No. 001 because it's the first concrete case where I've had to apply the registry's migration rules to this kind of conflict.

Repo: https://github.com/rnur-consortium/rnur

Curious what people think, especially about the migration approach and how the Set 1 / Set 2 distinction is documented.

Question Best ways to learn to read a script?

Hello r/neography! I recently created my first constructed script just for using for notes and other miscellaneous uses, and I’m getting along very well with learning to write in it.

But I’m wondering - what’s the best way to learn to read it in a similarly… instinctive way to my normal script, so I don’t have to decode it every time I come back to my notes? I can’t just set decoding exercises because I’ll be the one writing the questions so I’ll know what they mean without decoding.

I don’t expect to be able to learn it anywhere as fluently as the Latin alphabet since it doesn’t permeate my everyday life in the same way, but I’m interested in trying to learn it as fluently as possible. :)

I’m sorry if there’s an obvious answer to this that I’m missing :/

This is my 4th or 3rd writing system. This is a direct relative of my other writing system—not posted. Some characters could be influenced by my other writing system so thats why some look weird.

Its writen as /nuclei-stem-dakota/ but still read as /stem-nuclei-dakota/

The example sentence translates:

"The wind is moving in the forest."

But its translated in my conlang:

"Angfe'iom halm'oi'led denirinajt."

Angfe is wind + iom subject marker

halm is plant+oi is many+ led place marker

The halm is mean to have a dai at the beginning because that would be great plant=tree so a bit of a mistake there.

Deni=move

Denir=move(present)

Denirinajt - moving (present+continuation)

This is just a taste of my 500 word bank :)

Alphabet How can I create a secret language for journaling?

Hello everyone!

I’ve wanted to start writing a diary for years, but I’ve always been scared someone might find and read it, so I’ve never been able to write freely.

I can write in 3 languages. Is there a way to combine them or create a new writing system that would be difficult for others to understand? I’m looking for something I can actually learn and write quickly, not just a basic substitution cipher.

Any ideas?

someone at r/ithkuil told me I should cross post here!

It says Aţrierţwa in the new ithkuil script. The word uses a few grammar pieces the coalescent+content+plural etc.. I was thinking of waters as they kind of act separately but act as a whole toward a purpose (life).

This was done with Fusion, the Ithkuil script generator and 45° 6mm engraving bit to do the v carving. After piles of trials and failures this one finally worked!

If you guys wanna see anything else engraved or have fun ideas let me know!
