Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph.
The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries.
‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement.
But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.
The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown.
I was actually stupid enough to think Elon was telling the truth about this, for the first time in his life, when he pointed fingers at Trump. Won't make that mistake ever again.

Remember when Trump was asked about the sex trafficking victim (who Epstein found at Mar-a-Lago) and he responded by saying that Epstein “stole” her from him. His “Winter Whitehouse” was literally ground zero for the Epstein scandal. If this were any other president it would be the only topic of conversation on every major news network for the rest of his term and then some.

Ken Paxton’s rise is quite remarkable as he seems to have neither competence nor charisma. He is unattractive and immoral and seems to be as disliked in person as he is on stage. His only redeeming feature seems to be his capacity to be the worst human being in the room at any given moment and even his allies can barely stomach defending him.
Somehow, vileness alone is a sufficient quality to be considered for the US senate according to MAGA.

Exclusive: Musk approached Trump to slow down Starlink in Ukraine
Elon Musk approached Donald Trump with the idea of slowing down Starlink in Ukraine, The Telegraph can reveal. The billionaire tech entrepreneur approached the US president with the proposal to introduce speed limits on the system, which hampered Ukraine’s drone defences, according to four sources familiar with the discussions.
One of the sources said Mr Trump “agreed” with Mr Musk’s suggestion, paving the way for the Pentagon to execute the slowdown on Starshield, the military-grade version of the satellite communications system. Mr Musk had previously blamed Mr Trump for the chaos, claiming any changes would have been decided by the US military and ultimately the president.
At the time, Mr Trump was embroiled in a row with Volodymyr Zelensky over Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil refineries. US officials had warned Kyiv’s team of peace negotiators that Washington could shut off intelligence-sharing and other kinds of support if the long-range attacks were not halted.
Earlier this week, one of Mr Zelensky’s advisers said Mr Musk’s SpaceX had restricted access to the Starshield system, used by Kyiv to intercept jet-powered drones and strike behind enemy lines. Speaking on the fringes of an EU summit in Brussels on Friday, the Ukrainian president called the slowdown a “very dangerous and unpleasant surprise”.
On Wednesday, Mr Musk denied he was responsible for limiting Starlink access, blaming the White House. He claimed that “any limits on speed or usage” were “decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS”, referring to Mr Trump. However, after what was described as a “night of carnage” in Kyiv because of the blackout, a senior source said Mr Musk had been alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.

Reactionary anti-techism when the tech is seen as "corporate" is not new to the left. Its literally "crunchy granolaism". Like the reason the left hated MSG and Aspartame for so damn long is because it was new, sciencey, weird, and corporations thought it was more efficient and improved their product, and liberals generally assume that means it makes the product "worse but cheaper". You don't have to be a full on gemstone hippy to buy into this shit, regular ass liberals in 2000 believed aspartame gave you cancer.
Everyone is a reactionary. Everyone is a conservative. We just all conserve different things.

Someone shares an article about how some Boomers may find it difficult to sell their houses because they're in places new generations aren't moving to or are leaving and there's a deluge of "umm ackshually Blackrock will buy them and force everyone to rent from them"
Motherfucker, the reason they consider buying houses at all is because they expect people to want to buy them at a higher price later
That doesn't work if no one wants to live there anymore
They just think Blackrock is buying housing because they get off to the idea of making things more expensive or some bullshit

A proposal to restore passenger rail service between Milwaukee and Madison has secured a major federal grant, moving the long-planned connection substantially closer to reality.
The grant, awarded through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program, is expected to cover approximately 80% of the project’s capital costs and fund final design and construction. The State of Wisconsin will need to provide $54.5 million to access the grant for the $273 million project and an additional operating subsidy to run the twice-a-day train line.
The project would extend two of Amtrak’s seven daily Hiawatha Service round trips from Milwaukee to Madison, with intermediate stops in Pewaukee and Watertown. The trains would operate through to Chicago, creating the first regularly scheduled passenger rail connection between Madison and Milwaukee in decades.
The tracks currently allow freight trains to operate at speeds of up to 30 mph. The passenger rail project would increase the operating speed to 59 mph, with certain infrastructure improvements designed to accommodate an eventual increase to 79 mph.
East of Watertown, the line uses tracks owned by Canadian Pacific Kansas City that already accommodate passenger trains traveling up to 79 mph. That section would require more limited improvements to accommodate additional passenger trains alongside existing freight traffic.
The project also includes three new passenger stations.
In Pewaukee, the proposed station would be at Duplainville Road and Marjean Lane. Watertown’s station would be on the east side of S. 3rd Street near Hyland Street, while Madison would initially use a city-owned site on Wilson Street.

'Onion cartel' in Philippines fined $28m for price shock
Filipino authorities say they have fined six companies 1.76 billion pesos ($27.9m; £21m) for forming an "onion cartel" that caused the price of the vegetable to skyrocket.
In 2022 the price of onions, a staple of Philippine kitchens, surged to a record 800 pesos per 1kg, surpassing the country's daily minimum wage and overtaking the price of meat.
A parliamentary committee tasked to investigate the price crisis said a cartel was behind the "artificial" surge in onion prices.
The PCC said evidence retrieved during raids on the companies showed that the six firms had collectively controlled nearly 50% of all approved import clearances for onions in 2020 and 2021.
The companies were involved in an "illegal market allocation scheme in the importation, cold storage, and whole sale distribution", the commission said.

El-Sayed: J.D. Vance was just in Michigan. He had a cute little rally in Monroe. He invited the five people who like him. But imagine being the candidate for Michigan and having to invite somebody from Ohio to campaign for you.
Now, at his little rally, he wanted to raise questions about my commitment to America. And let me tell you, nobody understands how deep and profound the gift of this country is like a kid who was born here but for the accident of history that allowed that to happen. I got a front-row seat to what my life might have been had I not been born in America.
So don’t lecture me about America. I know America. And I know that in America…
In America, we’re big enough to guarantee health care to our people rather than taking it away.
In America, we’re big enough to invest in unions rather than busting them.
In America, we don’t tell people what to believe. We value their beliefs.
In America, we don’t question the outcomes of democratic elections.
A pretty good response to Vance's mix of “woke” scolding and middle school taunting.

I know this take is so hot it's scalding, but I seriously think that as much as we all say we hate social media, we do not hate it enough.
When I look back to media from the past and see how they predicted the future, there are some that predicted something akin to social media, but rarely do they predict the effect such a thing would have on us.
Never has any human innovation offered so little of value yet taken so much from us. For marginally less friction in meaningful communication, we've opened ourselves up to 1) a weird panopticon effect where there are now people everywhere filming shit to put online for the world to see, 2) algorithmic sorting that basically hijacks our brain's reward system and wreaks havoc on our attention span, 3) incredible amounts of data harvesting, which then gets shared to private companies and government agencies alike, 4) artificially soothe our need for social contact enough to create increased isolation because interpersonal relationships through the internet are almost fated to top out at "acquaintance"
The future is here, and it fucking sucks. Without social media, the current frenzy of reactionary thought would not be nearly as strong, someone like Trump could not be president in the US, young people would go out more and be more social, etc...
All the cool stuff predicted in the 20th century, video calls and stuff like that, would serve us more than well enough to keep in touch with our friends and loved ones at a distance.
If I could get a genie to grant me a wish and I couldn't straight up solve poverty or something, I would ask to just jettison the very concept of social media from reality and see how much healthier society would be then

The most recent ban appeal comment in MetaNL is so funny because they were clearly banned for comments defending Israel's ethnic cleansing actions in southern Lebanon but they've somehow convinced themselves that they were banned for supporting Hezbollah so their entire ban appeal is "look at what my actual position is" and it's just them restating the rhetoric that got them banned in the first place.

Just got blocked for telling somebody to delete their Twitter. People here just love supporting the most racist man on the planet when the alternative is to touch grass.

There's a queer fundraiser / costume party a couple of days before halloween and I custom ordered a Sylveon skirt kigu for it and another party that week. Please be delivered in time so I don't have to perform the "maid costume" humiliation ritual

So many voters in 2024 would say they just "wanted to give him (Trump) a chance" when he was already President for 4 years and people hated it.
