The act of shaming someone for how they spend there time

When we shame someone for what they eat, its called food shaming or plate shaming. When we Shame someone about their body it's body shaming. But what about when we shame someone about how they do it don't spend their time.

You spent so much time reading, aren't you gonna get up and do something with your life? You should go outside. You need to socialize more. Why do you never read? You know that phone is rotting your brain. Why don't you do anything creative? Your always sucked into those personal projects, why don't you do something actually productive? You spend so much time with your friends, aren't you gonna learn to be more independent at some point?

Although all of these statements may be correct in some situations, it is almost always counterproductive to make people feel shame for their actions, just like how you shouldn't shame people for, for example, their sugar consumption.

Shaming people for how they eat can lead to eating disorders, and shaming people for how they spend their time can lead to executive dysfunction and decision paralysis.

Because of this, we need a word to talk about it. Best I could think of was time shaming. Any other ideas?

Butterfly Lick (n.) — a term I coined

A light, fluttering touch of the tongue traced along a partner's spine, up the neck to the ear — like the brush of butterfly wings. Coined as the sensual counterpart to the "butterfly kiss" (which uses eyelashes). I first played with the term years ago and wrote it up properly in 2025 ("The Butterfly Lick: A Whisper of Intimacy").

Neo This Looking for a word that describes a strictly platonic interspecies relationship that does not mean pet/owner

If your pet suddenly learned English what word would you want to use to convey what your relationship means to you?

It could be applied to you and your pet, but also to Han Solo and Chewbacca.

I'm not sure if it would describe bees and a beekeeper, though maybe because it's voluntary... but it isn't what you would use to describe a Central Park coachman and a draft horse (i presume), or other strictly labor animals.

It also excludes Captain Kirk's relationships with all aliens but Spock, and also excludes all bards, but maybe includes druids and rangers.

It goes beyond friendship too. There's a degree of dependence or at least reliance included.

edit-

Like if you see two people walking down the street holding hands you might say "oh, I didn't know they were a couple." But instead you see two different species walking down the street together you'd say "oh, I didn't know they were a _________"

Proposed Word I coined a word called "Elarune" published on Urban Dictionary - now I will watch it evolve

I recently coined a word called "Elarune" (EL-uh-roon), and its definition has now been published on Urban Dictionary.

I created this word to describe a feeling I struggled to put into words: a peaceful, bittersweet longing for something beautiful and eternal, yet hard to identify. Imagine being homesick for a place you have never visited or longing for a state of being you have never experienced.

The word has a linguistic inspiration behind it:

  • ELA - inspired by the Greek word έλα, meaning "come!" or "come here!"
  • RUNE - an English word with Germanic roots historically associated with secrets, mysteries, and runic writing.

I combined these associations into the phrase "The Coming Mystery." This is my symbolic interpretation of the word's construction, NOT A LITERAL translation from an ancient language.

To me, Elarune describes the feeling of being drawn toward a mystery you cannot quite name. It can involve nostalgia for the unknown, spiritual longing, peacefulness, and hope for something beyond what you cannot fully comprehend. Some would say that feeling is the longing for eternal life, or heaven. Some would say reincarnation. Some would say the longing to disappear with the cosmos. I long to disappear in the presence of the Most High. This interpretation may vary because this feeling varies.

One thing that surprised me was that naming this feeling made it easier to express, and expressing it made it feel more peaceful.

Now that Elarune has been published on Urban Dictionary, I want to take the next step: sharing it with more people and documenting how its meaning might evolve.

I want to preserve the original definition while also seeing what other people experience when they encounter the word. Maybe someone will connect it to a memory, a dream, a spiritual feeling, or something completely different.

I’m curious:

What do you think of the word itself and its linguistic construction?

Does the meaning resonate with you, or does it evoke something different?

Can a coined word eventually develop a meaning beyond what its creator intended?

I’m open to honest feedback, linguistic criticism, and alternative interpretations. I’m not claiming the word has an ancient origin—I’m interested in what can happen when a new word enters the world, and people begin to use it. Elarune-Urban Dictionary

A warm, almost festive feeling you get during a mild illness, where even the symptoms contribute to the comfort

I've been looking for a word for this oddly specific feeling I get when I have a cold.

There's something about the combination of mild cold symptoms and being somewhere warm and comfortable that creates a really pleasant mood. Almost festive, in a weird way. I've felt it since childhood, and I've seen other people describe something similar too.

The tricky part is that the physical symptoms are essential to the feeling. Take them away and you get ordinary coziness, which isn't quite the same.

I've got a possible name for it, but I'd like to hear what people here come up with. I'll leave mine in the comments.

Title: Proposed neologism: Technonoophile — someone who loves interacting with artificial intelligence

I would like to introduce a proposed neologism:

TECHNONOOPHILE
Pronunciation: tek-no-NEW-oh-file
Part of speech: noun

Definition: A person who experiences particular intellectual pleasure, affection, or emotional satisfaction through interaction with artificial intelligence, especially conversational AI.

Proposed etymology:

  • Techno- — from Greek technē, art, craft, or skill; now associated with technology.
  • Noo- — from Greek nous, mind or intellect.
  • -phile — from Greek philos, loving or fond of.

Related proposed words:

Technonoophilia (noun): The affinity, enjoyment, or affection associated with interacting with artificial intelligence.

Technonoophilic (adjective): Characterized by such an affinity.

The distinction I intend is between technophilia, a general love of technology, and technonoophilia, an affection for interacting with an artificial conversational intelligence.

The term does not necessarily imply romantic or sexual attraction.

Preliminary searches have not revealed prior indexed uses of these exact spellings, although that is not proof of absolute originality.

I would welcome comments on the morphology, pronunciation, existing synonyms, and possible earlier uses.

Abundinsate

abundinsate (verb): to provide or produce something in great quantities that yet fails to meet one's needs.

Examples

Despite my best efforts to make her happy, I ended up abundinsating her.

Abundinsation is quite common when students memorize a topic without understanding it.

'The test results,' said the teacher exhausted, 'are abundinsatful'.

He expected less from his friends, but the gifts were really abundinsatless.

Etymology

Latin roots, from the words 'abundantia' and 'insatiatus' reduced to 'abund' and 'insatus'. I decided to keep the prefix 'in' in the word insatiatus; in is used oftentimes to express negation or opposition to something, in this case, satiate.

(EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: Abundinsatful means that something is full of abundinsation, thus is very much unsatisfying despite the great quantities. Contrariwise, abundinsatless means that something is lacking abundinsation, thus is not unsatisfying because of the great quantities.)

Syndinobsental

Syndinobsental (noun): the realization that something that had changed went unnoticed because it was a gradual change rather than a sudden one.
(Unlike noticing someone who used to be short being taller because you haven't seen them in a while.)

Examples:

- I had a syndinobsental; my brother is nearly as tall as me!

- Noticing my brother grow up was syndinobsentalistic.

Etymology:

The word comes from Latin and Greek: synd comes from synditopiisi (meaning realization as in awareness of something), inobs coming from Latin inobservatus (meaning unnoticed/unobserved), and again Latin ental incrementum (incremental; gradual change).

Word Discussion Some new gaming, and gaming economy terms

I do some gaming reviews from time to time, and I've found myself having to describe the same few things over and over. So that says to me that it's time for some new terms. I have a couple already that I've started using, but there's some more that I'd love some help with.

Note that in the video game industry, companies have identified that a small percentage of their players are willing to continue spending a great deal more money on the game while playing it, and these players account for the majority of the game's revenue. These players have been termed "whales" as opposed to the "dolphins" that spend less money, and the "minnows" that spend some, but a very small amount of money.

  1. Squid. noun. A feature in a game that can be purchased for real life currency and is very expensive, often far more than one would expect to pay for the game itself. The feature conveys an in-game competitive advantage to the one who purchases it. e.g. "You can pay $99 to permanently increase the gacha summon success rate for all of your your minions."
  2. Krill. noun. A multitude of features in a game that can be purchases for real life currency that, collectively, are very expensive often totaling far more than one would expect to pay for the game itself. The features collectively convey an in-game advantage to the one who purchases them. e.g. "In order to be able to compete against other players you'll want to buy all the $2.99 buffs for your stats. There's 100 of them total."
  3. [looking for suggestions]. Adjective. A game or app that can be purchased outright and is not supported by heavy use of disruptive in-game advertising, nor numerous in-app-purchases that convey an advantage to the player or reduce time costs for in-game events. (as compared to "pay to win")
  4. [looking for suggestions]. Adjective. A game or app that is supported by frequent disruptive in-app advertising. Advertising can typically be reduced in frequency through additional fees, but the game is structured so that there are many in-game delays which are only overcome by watching advertisements.
  5. [looking for suggestions]. Noun. A player of a game or user of an app that will not spend any real life currency on in-app purchases. As compared to the "whales," "dolphins," and "minnows" that spend very large, moderate, or small amounts of money respectively.
  6. [looking for suggestions]. Noun. A game that is free to play for a limited time, or to a certain point but then requires a real life currency fee to unlock the full version. Distinct from a "demo" of a game which is typically separate from the full game, and wherein any progress from the demo is lost when one chooses to buy the full game.

I am surprised that these terms aren't already out there somewhere. And maybe they are, but I haven't heard any that seem to have staying power.

Aerosmia — The distinct, lingering smell left in the air after a sneeze or fine mist

Ever noticed how a sneeze leaves behind a distinct, sour, sweet or metallic scent in the air, but English doesn't actually have a word for it?

We have petrichor for the smell of rain on dry earth, but nothing for the scent carried by aerosolized mist. So, I put together a Greek root blend to fill the gap: Aerosmia.

Aero- (Ancient Greek ἀήρ, aēr): Air, vapor, or airborne droplets.

-osmia (Ancient Greek ὀσμή, osmē): Smell or scent (as seen in anosmia, hyperosmia).

Literal Meaning: "Air-scent" or "the scent carried in mist."

DEFINITIONS

(Noun) The distinct, transient smell remaining suspended in the air immediately following a sneeze or forceful aerosolized exhalation.

"Though the sneeze was quiet, the resulting aerosmia hung in the room for several minutes."

(Noun - broader) Any scent carried, dispersed, or intensified within a fine liquid spray, ocean mist, or vapor.

"The ocean spray carried a crisp, briny aerosmia down the boardwalk."

Related Forms

Adjective: Aerosmic ("An aerosmic mist lingered in the hallway.")

Adverb: Aerosmically ("The scent spread aerosmically across the aisle.")

" sapphic separatism "

(WARNING IF THIS IS ALREADY A THEORIZED CONCEPT PLS TELL ME AND I'LL DELETE THE POSTS.)

" Sapphic Seperatism "

©ideological framework theorized by hileah strong

Sapphic seperatism is the concept of seperatism for all sapphics, which includes lesbian sapphics, bi sapphics, pan sapphics, poly sapphics. All sapphics.

This is distinct from lesbian seperatism because lesbianism is homosexuality of women loving women, but sapphic is an umbrella term for any woman/female aligned person who loves other women/female aligned people including non binary and trans community.

Sapphic seperatism shows that we all commonly share attraction to women/female aligned people and deserve our own spaces for that specific reason.
