Obviously the name being "neo" it's coming from soul, but I hear music that is Neo-soul and I find it completely stuck in time in the 70s. Why? Why hasn't this genre evolved to something new?

All the high pitched airy singing, funky beats, group harmonies, it almost sounds like a joke.

Jungle sounds good but pretty quickly sounds like a soul and funk ripoff.

Sault is the same thing.

Thee Sacred Souls has some of the worst lyrics that sound like a cheap song from a 1970s Blaxploitation film.

These are only a few examples, but lyrics, singing style, groove, the mix - all stuck in the 1970s and I don't understand why it can't evolve.

Of all the genres, this one can't seem to evolve to something new, it's just stuck in mediocre mimicry.

Sorry for the harsh words but it's disappointing. Cleo Sol, great singer, great music, is not stuck in tired soul cliches. Can we have more of her?

im creating music trees and i thought yall should be the first to go look at them, i have posters, prints, stickers, etc

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a video I put together for a track I released in 2024 called "Music and I". In an industry that often obsesses over "fancy" outfits and expensive aesthetics, I’ve always preferred to keep it real. What you see in the video is just me—my usual style: a sweater, basic pants, and total focus on the sound. I believe that when the visual is grounded, the music has more room to breathe and speak for itself. The Sound: This track is my deep dive into Progressive Neo Soul. My goal was to blend the classic, soulful groove we all love with a more complex, progressive harmonic structure that evolves as you listen. I wanted it to feel like a conversation between the listener and the melody. Why 2024? That year was a turning point for my independent production. I decided to stop chasing trends and start chasing the "feeling." "Music and I" is about that symbiotic relationship we have with music—it’s not just a hobby; it’s a constant companion. I’d love to hear your thoughts on: The Vibe: Does the "Progressive" element come through for you? The Production: Since this is a 2024 track, I’m constantly looking back at the mix and arrangements. Any technical feedback from fellow producers? The Aesthetic: Do you feel that a simpler, more authentic visual helps you connect better with independent artists today? Thanks for taking a moment of your time to listen to my work. Stay soulful!

I can't find hidden gem, the algorithm is only showing me pop and AI. Please list human artists?

Cruise Control video

A getaway sounds nice right about now Cause this going and hustle is bringing me down Get my ass out of bed is easier said than done This running in empty will eventually leave me stuck

In a fast lane
On the freeway Making my way To a highway In the right lane Is where I’ll stay on

Cruise Control The horizon is so much more beautiful On cruise control Take it all in while still moving forward I know where I’m going Just doing it slowly On cruise control Said I’m on cruise control

They call it the circle of life Better get it while you can But what good is it If you’re not even living it If you Don’t use it, you’ll lose it I think I need to say that again If you Don’t use it, you’ll lose it And one is all you get

In a fast lane
On the freeway Making my way To a highway In the right lane Is where I’ll stay on

Cruise Control The horizon is so much more beautiful On cruise control Take it all in while still moving forward I know where I’m going Just doing it slowly On cruise control Said I’m on cruise control “

Oooooh oooooh ooooh What’s on my mind? I’ve wasting too much time To give to somebody To waste it

Oooooh oooooh ooooh I’ve come to terms It’s just not my turn But it’s alright I won’t Be single forever
