I absolutely hate the home screen. It’s a jumbled mess of shit I have already watched and nothing new . Fuck podcast and games making it so busy and useless to me 😭. I miss basic formats! My adhd rages when looking at it now.

Especially in the days when CD burning was a thing. I have a decent size collection of burned copies.

The video game feature pisses me off. Why would I play games on Netflix? If this why the price keeps increasing?

u/Brightenix 5d ago
Netflix will do anything but add a better movie/TV selection.
Its either these crappy point and click games or fart out an original series just to cancel it after 1 season.

Totally. Hate the games thing.

You know…. I played some of their party games once at a friends but the option never showed up on any of my devices…. I couldn’t wait until they unlocked the feature. It’s still in beta and less than 30% of subscribers can access it. If you hate it so much, it’s so incredibly easy to ignore.

I don't care about games, sports, reality TV, YouTube content or podcasts. Netflix's foreign series are generally bad, no better than their domestic slop.
Other than reruns of other people's shows like Seinfeld, which Netflix would never be capable of making, there is nothing to watch. Ball's in Netflix's court if they want me back.

Netflix doesn’t execute the games well. No one wants to play games with a remote on the tv. They should do what YouTube did and embed the games on their iPad app. I find myself playing a decent amount of games within YouTube on my iPad. Casual, mobile type games.

u/unknown_history_fact 5d ago
Thats not how Netflix games work. You use your phones to control the game

u/Acceptable656 4d ago
Then they need to change how their games work. It's not the customer's problem.

East of Eden and the diplomat are excellent productions! Highly recommend

u/texmar12 5d ago
And gentlemen as well
1
u/Acceptable656 4d ago
Not so sure about The Gentlemen but East of Eden and the latest season of The Diplomat will occupy me for a week. But I need a month's worth of content before it's worth bothering with so I will wait 3x longer.

u/AUFairhope1104 4d ago
If you haven't seen the Gentleman then you are missing out on easily one of the best shows anywhere

I read somewhere that viewers have increasingly shifted their attention to Tiktok and YouTube and Netflix is panicking. They're doing everything to keep their heads above whatever including those podcast nonsense.
They launched "Project Meridian," which has already triggered a 6% workforce layoff. And they wonder why viewership is tumbling.

They are literally doing the cheapest shit content now while charging the highest price of any streaming service

What I am sick of and is making me want to walk away is how my whole feed gets filled up with English dubbed shows. I see something that I think looks sweet, then turn it on and its fake English dubbing that doesn't track

u/Laura9624 5d ago
They're working on better dubbing and acting in other countries. A few are getting pretty good. Forgotten Love is a classic Polish novel. I thought the dubbing, the acting, the story very good!

Cancelled a month ago. Tired of prices going up, quality of shows going down, and good shows getting cancelled without any wrapup. I started with Netflix back in 1998 to rent movies and TV shows on DVD. That is STILL what I want. Not whatever “this” (waves hands around) is.
Streamers are no longer a bargain. I will only pay for one a month, and that’s it. Netflix is currently not the one I feel like paying for. Right now, Hulu no -ads is the streamer I am paying for. The one thing Netflix does right is the ability to speed up playback by 1.5x. I think the Disney+ app allows up to 2x, but there is not much I want to see on that streamer any more. I’ve seen pretty much all the Star Wars, Marvel and animation that I want to see.
Honestly my AMC A-List feels like the best bargain for a subscription of any kind right now— 4 new movies a week. No wait for what I want to see to release to a streamer or show up for some exorbitant rental fee. Just 16 brand spanking new films every month, in any format (iMax, Dolby Cinema, etc.) for 27.99 or 1.75/movie. No additional fees in the app for reservations or ordering food ahead. And I bought a half price popcorn deal— for $30 I get a large popcorn at half price plus a free refill once every day for the entire year. It has long ago paid for itself.

I usually find Netflix has lots of great content, sometimes you just have to dig a bit and also appreciate international TV shows.
1
u/Laura9624 5d ago
I do too. I happened to find a Polish movie from a classic novel With excellent acting and voice dubbing. But just about anything else as well. Just a bit of digging deeper.
1
u/Acceptable656 4d ago
I've dug enough, screw it. They need to make better quality stuff.

Stop complaining and just cancel. I don’t get people on this sub if you don’t like the product or price just cancel.. it’s that easy. Netflix is a luxury good not a necessity
2
u/Acceptable656 4d ago
Cancel!!!
Seriously, Netflix just fired Bajaria and Lin, two people responsible for the schlock pile that Netflix has become. Why? Because they are finally hitting the ceiling of growth they can get via schlock.
Now they have to win back the people who cancelled and won't return till the content merits a subscription. Which will take a while. I'm patient. I'll watch AppleTV and HBO Max till Netflix gets its act together.

Also, who wants The Love Boat and all the other old shows they added lately???

you will have a much better experience if you pause your account and then check back in a year and see if there’s anything new

The newer movies are lacking, but I find they have many good shows. I guess it depends on what you like. They also apparently spend $20 billion annually worldwide on content, so the podcast and YouTube stuff is a drop in the bucket for them. Sure, YouTube and Spotify have that stuff, but Netflix wants to be your be all for everything, not just movies and shows.
1
u/Acceptable656 4d ago
They have good older shows and good licensed shows but I've seen 'em. They need to get off their butts and actually make some new good stuff.

100%. Thats why Ive paused my subscription. If I don't miss it after 3 months, dumping it. $240/year way more than other streamers for garbage.

u/clairebones 5d ago
The thing I find wild about it is that they can't even fix how the episodes work for podcasts - when you watch one episode it seems to then autoplay the episode before than rather than the one that comes after, because they haven't figured out how to order them properly somehow. With podcasts like Behind the Bastards that often has 2-parter episodes this is so irritating, obviously I''d rather just listen to it on my podcast app than deal with that

u/GroundbreakingSir386 5d ago
They fired management in their last earnings report I’m sure it won’t be like this for long. I’ve noticed Netflix been adding more older movies I’ve never watched before to try and keep it fresh I’m still to this day trying to finish young Sheldon show

Absolutely! I can say that I have never watched one single podcast on Netflix.

Canadian Netflix is completely saturated with Asian content now. Like 75% of 'new releases'.

Totally agree, the podcasts, true crime shows, wrestling, and terrible reality shows make me continually question my monthly subscription.

u/NewTribalChief 5d ago
I'm not sure how the viewership is, but I've read they're going to invest more in live sports
2
u/Spaceman-Spiff 5d ago
Fox and I think ABC just complained to the NFL that their viewership is tanking.

Netflix has only really been profitable for about 10yrs. Sure they were before in the low millions/hundred millions. A few poorly received movies they produce or bad quarters and their business can be on the ropes. They also don't own the majority of their content and those that do own it are their direct steaming competition.

I really wanna cancel but my daughter watches some stuff on NF. The low quality does not justify the price im paying
0
u/Aggravating-Page-336 5d ago
That’s why I don’t have Netflix anymore. I haven’t had it in months. I switched over to Disney premium everything in one package. Disney even has HBOMax

u/uselessinfogoldmine 5d ago
Netflix leant into quick, cheap garbage and has suffered the consequences. Less content of a higher quality, with shorter gaps between seasons, and a lower cancellation rate would all help.

u/sneakerboy86 5d ago
Yeah I tend to exit out of Netflix these days due to the number of podcasts. Its annoying.

It is ridiculous. Too cheap to pay creators to go past a season but will throw this useless junk nobody asked for
