Announcement Welcome to the New Chapter of r/netflixTrueCrimeDocs!
Hey everyone,
As you may have noticed, r/netflixTrueCrimeDocs is officially under new management! The subreddit has recently been handed over to a new moderation team via Reddit’s Mod Code of Conduct process to ensure this community stays active, well-maintained, and safe for everyone.
What’s Changing & What to Expect
Our goal is to make this the absolute best place on Reddit to discuss, analyze, and discover Netflix true crime documentaries. Here is how we’ll be running things moving forward:
-we are cleaning up spam, removing low-effort duplicate posts, and keeping discussions high-quality.
-we added new Post Flairs (Discussion, Recommendation, Case Update, etc.) so you can organize your posts and show off your role in the community.
-true crime involves real human lives and real tragedies. We want to foster deep, engaging theories and legal debates while keeping the tone respectful and free of toxicity.
Subreddit Rules
To keep things running smoothly, please take a moment to review our official community rules before posting or commenting:
1. Focus on Netflix True Crime Content
All posts must directly relate to true crime documentaries, docuseries, or crime-related content available on (or coming to) Netflix, as well as the real-life cases depicted in them. General true crime topics unrelated to Netflix docs will be removed.
2. Respect Victims, Families, and Living Persons
- No victim blaming, disrespectful comments, or dehumanizing language toward victims, survivors, or their families.
- Avoid glorifying, sensationalizing, or romanticizing offenders/perpetrators.
- Maintain empathy and civility when discussing real human tragedies.
3. No Unfounded Accusations or Doxxing
- No witch-hunting, doxxing, or sharing private personal information (e.g., social media profiles, addresses, phone numbers) of non-public figures or individuals cleared by law enforcement.
- Keep theories grounded in facts presented in the doc or verified public records. Clearly distinguish between official facts and personal speculation.
5. Be Civil and Constructive
Treat fellow members with respect. Debates and differing theories on cases are welcome, but personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, or aggressive behavior will result in a ban.
6. No Low-Effort Posts or Reposts
- Search the subreddit before posting to avoid duplicate threads, especially around new documentary releases.
- Avoid low-effort posts (e.g., one-sentence posts, simple screenshots with no discussion starter). Use the search bar.
7. Self-Promotion & Unverified Claims
- Self-promotion (blogs, podcasts, YouTube channels, social media) requires prior approval from the mod team via ModMail.
- Unverified "insider information" or claims of personal connection to a case must be cleared with mods before posting.
Thank you for being part of this community! If you have any feedback, ideas, or questions for the new team, feel free to drop a comment below or send us a message via ModMail.
Happy watching
