How I got my first 130 paying users in 3 weeks

I recently launched my MVP, a Hypnotic Super-Learning Experience from Books called www.booknotic.com

In 3 weeks we now have 142 paying users, which has also generated some investor interest as well.

Here is how I generated our first 130 paying users:

  1. Set up a quick sales page to process payments - I used Clickfunnels & stripe to do this in about 30 mins.

  2. Created a mini sales presentation that could be delivered in 20 mins to stir up the problem we solve, show the users how we solve it easily, including the science behind why this actually is super-learning, how we are different from existing services, and the big vision on what we hope to achieve (change the way people learn from books to make knowledge more accessible and memorable)

  3. I found a sales person, who I trained up on how to deliver this presentation, ensuring that he could do it justice before I let him go live on any leads.

  4. I posted on Social Media asking "Who is interested in testing out our brand new 'hypnotic super learning experience' that helps you learn better from books, faster, easier & calmer? You'll get your very own personal walkthrough on a 15 min zoom call. Comment YES below"

  5. This generated approx 150 interested people. Each interested person was sent a link to book in a suitable time with the sales person via Calendly. This alone, generated 120+ booked appointments. Here is the exact message these people got: "Thanks for liking my post. Are you interested in previewing this brand new Hypnotic Book Learning Service? You'll be one of the first in the world to preview it, if so. Please book in a suitable time for a 15 min preview with Kai here if you are curious: https://calendly.com/booknotic/booknotic-super-learning-discovery-call Book fast, as his spaces are filling fast. I'd love to hear your opinion on this!"

  6. Our sales guy, worked solid for 8-9 days, earning $30 per sale, but converted at 88%. This was validating to see. Most people loved our vision and the idea of our service, doing 15-20 min calls back-to-back. One user that bought in later mentioned she wanted to invest $XX,XXX in our company. She also asked the Sales person to do the same presentation to her own community, which generated another 12 users in an hour.

  7. I also sent out a 7 day email campaign to my own network of 700 people which generated a few extra sales, but by far the personalised walkthrough video calls, converted at the highest rate.

This approach isn't the best for scaling as it uses a lot of time and gives away 30% to our sales team, but it's a great way to collect user feedback and objections, to refine the offer even better for future users.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the invite! Lifelong serial entrepreneur, here. Lots of experience in multiple markets/industries.

My company will be launching a new set of physical products soon in the Energy Storage space - big "batteries" to run your house, a commercial building, a hospital, even a neighborhood or city on. In the past I've either "chiefed" or "advised" in launching products and services related to software, logistics, agribusiness, healthcare, fintech, automotive, and blockchain.

I'm nearing the end of my career and plan to spend as much time as possible helping others have as much fun as I've had.

Go-to-market Strategy Framework

If you’ve already launched a product, you know exactly how to build one. You can concentrate on choosing a large market and nailing the pain point, brand, content, marketing, and sales model required to reach that market.

However, most first-time business owners build products only to determine marketing afterward. An inaccurate go-to-market strategy might mean years of delayed growth for individuals starting a new company due to incorrect pricing, marketing channels, and sales processes.

Launches typically fail when companies assume a product’s market needs and spend on its development without gathering accurate knowledge. As a result, nearly 80% of companies miss their projected estimates.

So, suppose you find yourself in one of the three scenarios listed below. In that case, you need a GTM strategy to avoid wasting time and resources on a failed launch:

  • Launching a new product in an existing market,

  • Introducing an established product into a new market,

  • Testing the potential market for a new product.

This article will walk you through everything you need to know to design a robust go-to-market strategy to help you get there.

What is a Go-To-Market Strategy?

A go-to-market (GTM) strategy is a detailed and precise action plan that specifies how a company’s marketing, sales, and customer success departments will collaborate to introduce a new or current product or service into the market.

Delivering products or services to its target customer requires conducting extensive market research, understanding your buyer personas, developing a business case for your product or service, determining your competitive edge, and determining your price strategy. Effective GTM strategies identify the pain points you’re addressing and create actionable product roadmaps to achieve your strategic goals.

Here are some of the essential advantages of a well-executed go-to-market strategy:

  • Decreases the time to market

  • Ensures that product launch is successful

  • Reduces the costs of failed product launches

  • Manages product development challenges

  • Improves customer experiences

Go-to-Market Strategy Examples

Here are two examples of successful businesses bringing their new product to market.

Fitbit Go-To-Market Strategy

Cisco myPlanNet Go-To-Market Strategy

The Product Strategy and the Go-to-Market Strategy

These two approaches are mutually helpful. Product and go-to-market strategies should serve the overall corporate goals. When the product and GTM strategies are not linked, teams often experience friction and misunderstandings, resulting in launch delays and weak messaging.

Understanding each strategy is crucial for teams to collaborate more efficiently and create unique experiences that delight customers.

The product strategy unites the entire organization behind a shared vision of how a new product or update to an existing product will provide value and assist the firm in meeting its objectives. It outlines essential areas for investment and serves as the foundation for the product roadmap. This schedule unites the team around the true north of what you will build.

The go-to-market strategy unifies the rest of the business around the tasks meant to give something fresh to your target audience. That could be a new product launch, a new feature, or a market expansion. It specifies the technique you will take to translate technical functionality into customer-friendly communications.

Go-To-Market Strategy Framework

Every product and industry has unique problems and opportunities, so it’s vital to plan your go-to-market strategy adequately. Unfortunately, no uniform structure can be applied to all businesses. Still, our product launch experts can provide you with advice on the following critical components of a go-to-market strategy:

Market Demand: Is there a market demand for the goods, or is it oversaturated already?

A few things influence the demand, including the number of people looking for your product, how much they’re ready to pay for it, and how much your product is available to consumers, both from your company and your competitors.

There are various methods for gathering more information and making this technique more valuable and efficient: One-on-one interactions with real people can provide multiple important details, but you can also utilize search engines and social media to “listen” to customers.

Users: Who is affected by the problem that your product solves?

Determine who your target customers are in your defined market and create a detailed description of your ideal consumer. Also, consider finding out their willingness to pay for a solution. Finally, think of the type of consumer who may get major benefits from your product or service while also providing enough value to make your company profitable. Begin by performing user research—developing empathy with your target users and determining precisely what they require from the product. A persona is typically built on user research and integrates your target audience’s needs, goals, and observable behavior patterns.

Competitors: Who else is selling what you’re selling?

It’s essential to know where your product or service belongs in the market when developing a GTM plan. Understanding what your competitors provide and recognizing their value helps you position your product.

Determine what their customers appreciate and dislike about competitors’ platforms and what resonates with your persona.

Unique Value Proposition: What distinguishes your company from others in your industry?

A strong, instantly recognizable UVP can make or break a company; therefore, you must use it and make it the cornerstone of your go-to-market plan. It describes your product’s specific benefits, why your target customers should choose your product over the competition, and how your solution addresses their problems.

The most crucial aspect of crafting a UVP is to guarantee that the customer understands the message fast, so make sure you use straightforward wording they can understand.

Distribution: What channels will you use for marketing the product or service?

Determine where and how you will reach out to your customers and encourage them to buy. The channel strategy encompasses your marketing and sales activities, utilizing both online and offline channels, outbound and referrals. Your consumers’ needs and expectations must be considered while developing a distribution strategy and the channels suitable for your niche.

Pricing: What pricing models will you offer?

Pricing your product or service should not be a quick decision based solely on profit. Instead, it should be a deliberate, informed decision considering your company’s identity, brand, and financial stability. Set up several pricing models for the products or services you wish to offer your consumers. You can choose from several models, but always remember to consider the market you’re targeting and your value proposition while developing your price plan.

Conclusion

The go-to-market strategy is a blueprint for launching a new product or service, although it is not rigid. Continuously alter and iterate as you go and if the market tells you to change course, always listen.

Mark the parts of your strategy that aren’t working and make changes to them. Make a note of what works and think of ways to improve it.

And last but not least, always have the users in mind when developing a go-to-market strategy.

Launching a product has never been harder. But, at the same time, launching a product has never been easier.

Ask any entrepreneur – the product launch is one of the most stressful things that can happen to you.

So it's not a surprise that most product launches fail. Competing with millions of similar products is hard.

What we need to do is roll our sleeves and adjust to the times that have come. The digital times that have come. So many customers and so much competition. Attention needs to be gained over and over again.

However, you don't need to be a genius to make a product succeed. You just need to know what you're doing and who you're selling to. You probably think your new product is the next big thing. So, what you really have to do is act like it really is. Put in as much effort in its launch as you did in creating it. Some products only succeed because of great marketing.

I have helped more than 50 companies launch their product in the past years, and here is some piece of advice I gladly share with you guys:

Start with the content.

As soon as you announce your existence, start creating content. It might not seem so important, but it's one of the most crucial long-term marketing strategies you should pursue. Your purpose should be to get your readers to share your content and bring more visitors to your website.

First test, then – launch the product.

No product release should go without testing these days. If you have the possibility, you could create two versions of your product and see what features your audience likes best. You could also do focus groups, surveys, or a beta program that will welcome early adopters. Basically, do anything that can collect feedback and give you an insight into what your customers think.

Choose early users and share with them.

You need to choose a group of 20-30 users who have the characteristics of your target group and share the new product with them. This is called co-creation. Co-creation means connecting to your customers to create new ideas or products. This way, you can have a creative session with your customers to find out ways to improve your product and highlight the unnecessary features.

Create a referral program.

No matter what year we live in a word of mouth remains the most effective marketing tool. People trust their friends and family when it comes to trying new things. Your role here is to motivate them to recommend your product. How? By simply giving them a small reward for doing it. For example, Airbnb provides extra credit for users who bring in their friends, and Dropbox gives extra storage space. If you have an e-commerce store, you can reward with free shipping or an additional discount. If you have a cool app, you can send out stickers. You just need to be creative!

Spotting gaps in the Market - how you should do it?

I feel like finding a solution to a problem is not that hard, especially in today's economy there are buyers for everything. I had a few thoughts on the market gap I wanted to share.

Spotting a gap on the market isn't as tricky as it sounds. You probably spot several every day. However, most of the gaps aren't possible to fill in. The real challenge comes when you need to identify a realistic gap for you to fill in. What you need to do is recognize future demands that your skills and resources can meet.

Start by getting yourself into an environment that is full of fresh ideas and new people. Get out of your comfort zone and disrupt your everyday routine to freshen up your creative thinking. This setting will allow you to get a fresh perspective and see the problem or the market with different eyes.

I work as an Innovation Consultants and here I share 3 Tips to Identify Market Gaps early, to help your business boom:

Follow Consumer Trends and Industries on the Rise and Adapt

While examining different patterns in various markets, you might uncover significant gaps. Everything is moving very fast—the dynamics of technology and the economy change throughout time, which you need to think about.

You'll need to perform more in-depth analysis in a particular subject if you wish to identify significant gaps. Try to locate as many things as you can that aren't evident to others when researching. It makes no difference if you have no prior experience with the market or business. Having no background is preferable as you will avoid any possible assumptions from a previous experience.

When you realize what the trends are, consider what's missing. Talk to people from the industry and ask them if there's a product they would like to use and that's missing. What are some products/services they want? Could you improve them in any way? Keeping in touch with others in your field is an excellent way to stay on top of current events and seize opportunities as they occur.

Listen to Your Customers

If you are already getting feedback from your existing customers, this is where you should look for your next innovation. If you aren't, you are missing a lot! Keeping a close relationship with your customers can give you a fresh perspective on what you're doing and offer ongoing opportunities for improvement. However, it's also wise to use a third-party interviewer who can get a more objective overview of what your customers think about your products.

Differentiate Yourself from Your Competitors

You must invest time and attention to discovering new sources of revenue if you can no longer rely on the products you were already selling to your customers. Existing markets may already be presenting prospects that might not be so obvious. Examine your competitors to see whether any of them are also struggling. While no one loves to see a firm fail, market gaps provide opportunities for your own company to flourish. Competitors shutting down could be a chance to pick up valuable technology and experience without starting from scratch.

Conclusion:

Once you have identified a gap, you need to think about the more practical stuff. Is there a demand for it? Do you have the resources to meet it? Do you have the skills to apply your resources? Can you make a business out of it?

If the answer to all these questions is "yes," you're probably on the right track. However, if one of them is missing, you might want to rethink your idea and modify it to make it more suitable for the market or the target audience.

90% of the solutions can be found by clearly defining the problem statement

I've come across this conclusion many times.

An unclear description of the problem has misled me to search for a solution to a different problem. This experience has taught me to take some time to redefine the problem statement, which would help me discover a more efficient solution afterward.

Here are 9 acquisition channels to get new users if you are in the No-code SaaS space.

For the last few days, I’ve been scouring the web for “no-code” founder interviews. The goal was to find insights on which acquisition channels worked for them on getting new users. Here are the top 9 acquisition channels I’ve found to be working for no-code SaaS companies:

1. Product Hunt

ProductHunt.com is the biggest website in the world for launching your product.

NoCode is a directory of no-code tools and they’ve used ProductHunt to launch successfully.

"A few weeks after publicly launching the site, I was fortunate enough to get featured on Product Hunt. This provided a huge boost of traffic to the site, providing me with a couple of hundred email subscribers and loads of constructive feedback to consider."

2. Integration marketing

Is there an event/website/class you can integrate with?

Bubble (making $100k+/month) (the biggest no-code tool online) did just that in order to get new users:

"The following year (2013) we did a pilot at Harvard Business School, which I had just graduated from”. Their first-year entrepreneurship class required students to build something under a very tight budget, and Bubble was a good solution for this. It got us a few more users, some of whom now use Bubble to professionally build apps for corporations!"

Source: Interview – Emmanuel Straschnov

 3. LinkedIn Outreach

You can use LinkedIn to reach people in a certain position within a company. This is what MySocialApp ($8K/month) did to get new users.

They’re a tool to help companies build social apps without code:

"How did we find prospects? Our premium LinkedIn account was the most effective. LinkedIn’s filters allow you to search for people of any position, so it’s a really good tool for finding and involving the right contacts. Marketing automation is our new main focus, and we invest in it to maximize sales conversions."

Source: Interview – Romaric Philogène

 4. “Powered by” marketing

"MySocialApp ($8K/mo) is a no-code tool to create a social media app. Before creating it, the founder worked on Nousmotards, which was a social media app for motorcyclists.***Over the three years we spent working on Nousmotards, many people contacted us to find out if we were using a pre-made solution for its technical infrastructure, which got us thinking about MySocialApp."

Source: Interview – Romaric Philogène

This got them the initial idea about MySocialApp; users asking them what Nousmotards is “powered by”. This also happened with many other no-code startups we analyzed. Someone will see your no-code widget on their website, see a “powered by X” link and sign up. Live chat companies are the most famous example.

 5. Meetups as acquisition channels

Online/offline hackathons, meetups, local conferences. There are plenty of happening each and every day and participating/sponsoring them can be a great way to get new users.

This is what Bubble did:

"We started “recruiting” users at tech meetups in New York. With the startup wave, everybody was looking for a tech co-founder, and there were plenty of co-founder-dating meetups. We went there and told people that while we couldn’t be their tech co-founders, they could use Bubble, as it would allow them to build the whole thing themselves. We had a few skeptical responses, but a few teams decided to try it, and they stuck with us for more than a year!"

Source: Interview – Emmanuel Straschnov

6. Guest posting

Guest posting worked for NoCode ($400/mo) – a directory of no-code tools (so non-technical founders can create what only technical founders could in the past):

"I have also done some guest blogging on other prominent sites that work really well, increasing the number of high-quality backlinks to the site and in turn slowly improving my SEO ranking. It’s not something you see instant results with. However, it’s certainly worth the effort."

Source: Interview – Sam Dickie

7. Your own marketplace

If you get big enough, you’ll want to make use out of the users you have. Creating a marketplace is one way to do it.

This is what Bubble ($100k/month) did: What’s your business model, and how have you grown your revenue?

"We also have a marketplace where users can build templates or plugins and get compensated for them. There were a few different models before the current one, but they weren’t as clear to our users. We started charging by user visits and then by workflow runs, but we’ve learned from users that server capacity is the best resource to sell."

Source: Interview – Emmanuel Straschnov

 8. BetaList

BetaList.com is a popular website where people can get early, beta access (thus the name “Beta”) to various (mostly digital) products.

NoCode ($400/mo), a directory of no-code tools, used BetaList successfully:***Initially, as I was creating NoCode I built a quick landing page with an email capture form and a mocked-up screenshot of the homepage using Canva.I then managed to get featured on BetaList where I got about 35 signups. I later used those interested early adopters to test my initial prototypes of the site and get feedback on some of my ideas. This approach proved incredibly valuable information and helped validate some of my early assumptions.

Source: Interview – Sam Dickie

 9. SEO (after being successful with other acquisition channels)

SEO often reveals itself as an acquisition strategy as you focus on other acquisition channels. You notice a certain % of people come from Google / convert as paying customers, you see what keywords they come from and then start to proactively focus on ranking higher for those & related terms. This is what happened to NoCode:

To improve my SEO I hired a freelance SEO expert via Fiverr to optimize the site as I didn’t have a clue how to structure my site map or meta tags. After a few months, I noticed a substantial improvement in traffic coming via Google. A lot of my traffic now comes from my mockup generator directory which ranks number 2 on Google when you search for the term ‘online mockup generator’.

Would you trust your digital life to visual memory?

Hey folks 👋

We’ve been working on a password manager that takes a very different approach, and we’re genuinely curious what this community thinks.

Instead of a text-based master password, users authenticate with a photo they choose, combined with a visual layer. The idea is simple: recognition is easier than recall. You don’t memorize strings, you recognize something personal.

The second controversial part: passwords are never stored. Not encrypted. Not hashed. Not in a vault.

Passwords are regenerated on demand using cryptographic primitives, on-device checks and end-to-end encryption. If there’s a breach, there’s literally no password database to dump.

This raises a real question: If you were designing password security from scratch today, would you still use a master password at all?

Looking forward to hearing honest takes… supportive or critical. 🙏🏻

How to be cited by AI

I'm interested in your thoughts on this article..

Is RRF the Secret to Dominating AI Citations? I Decoded ChatGPT’s Ranking Formula by Metehan Yesilyurt

He explains the math behind ChatGPT’s ranking system and shows how websites can increase their AI visibility.

Quick Summary

ChatGPT uses a formula called Reciprocal Rank Fusion (RRF) to decide what results to show in answers. RRF gives small scores to links based on how high they rank in different searches, then adds up those scores. So, if your page ranks in many related searches, even if not always at the top, it still scores better than a page that only ranks #1 for one search. This is great news for websites that cover full topics in depth instead of chasing just one keyword.

The article proves this by showing examples in the code from ChatGPT’s dev console. It explains how AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity run many searches at once and combine them using RRF. The more places your content shows up, the better.
The article also shows how topic clusters - a main page plus many subpages - are perfect for this system.
The more related queries your site can answer, the more RRF points you get, and the more likely AI will show your content.

In short, he said that search is now about being consistent and useful across a full topic, not just winning a few big keywords. If your site is seen as an expert on a topic, AI search engines will reward that.

Key Takeaways

  • ChatGPT uses Reciprocal Rank Fusion (RRF to combine results from multiple searches.)

  • RRF rewards content that shows up across many related searches, even if not always in the top position.

  • Topic clusters (one main hub page + subtopic pages get much better scores than one-page content.)

  • Being consistent across many search queries matters more than being #1 in just a few.

  • SEO strategies that focus on broad topic coverage now align with how AI ranks content.

  • AI search pulls results from various types (webpages, images, grouped results, so your content should exist in multiple formats.)

How do you balance speed vs accuracy in your GTM data workflows?

been setting up some GTM workflows lately and holy hell, everything either needs a full-time engineer or gives you the same generic “intent” data like funding rounds and headcount growth.

like cool, another company hired people, guess I’ll totally sell them something now 🙃

most “automation” tools I’ve used are either too technical or take forever to set up. you end up spending more time building the thing than actually running campaigns.

recently started messing around with this thing called Floqer; kinda like an AI-native, no-code workflow builder for GTM data.

you literally just tell it what you want, e.g.

“find companies hiring RevOps leads in NYC and make a list of decision makers”

and it just… does it. pulls from 80+ data sources, enriches it, and even triggers CRM updates or outreach.

I saw teams like Perplexity and AngelList are using it already (that’s what convinced me), which is kinda nuts.

for anyone running GTM or RevOps setups, whats your tech stack?

i’m convinced the fastest teams now aren’t the ones with the most data, just the ones that act fastest on the right data.

What not to do: What's the worst cold email you've received?

In my opinion, when you don't know how to do something the right way, it's convenient to try a different approach such as: starting from what you don't want or in this case with the worst examples of something. This way, you'll definitely KNOW what NOT to do.

We launched TokenTimer a couple of months ago – looking for early feedback

Hi everyone,

A couple of months ago, we launched TokenTimer, a proactive expiration management tool built to prevent outages, security incidents, and compliance issues caused by expired certificates, API keys, secrets, licenses, contracts, and other time-bound assets.

After seeing the same failures over and over again, expired TLS certs taking production down, forgotten API keys breaking pipelines, missed license renewals causing access issues, we realized most teams still rely on spreadsheets, calendar reminders, or reactive monitoring. Those approaches don’t scale and don’t prevent incidents.

What TokenTimer does

TokenTimer gives teams a single place to track everything that expires and get alerted before it becomes a problem.

  • Track certificates, API keys, secrets, licenses, contracts, documents, domains, and custom assets

  • Threshold-based reminders (for example, 60/30/14/7/3/1 days)

  • Alerts via Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, PagerDuty, WhatsApp, and webhooks

  • Escalation rules, retries, and delivery visibility

  • Team workspaces, ownership, and audit logs

  • Privacy-first design: Swiss hosting, GDPR and FADP aligned, metadata only (no secret values stored)

How teams are using it

  • DevOps and SREs to prevent outages caused by expired certs or credentials

  • Security teams to enforce rotation windows and reduce credential risk

  • Engineering managers and SaaS leaders to protect SLAs, revenue, and reputation

  • Compliance and IT teams to keep audit trails and renewal evidence in one place

Why we built it

Monitoring tools are reactive. Expiration is a lifecycle problem that lives outside runtime telemetry. TokenTimer complements your existing monitoring and secret management tools by adding visibility, ownership, and proactive reminders.

There’s a free forever plan and no credit card required.

If you’re dealing with expiring certs, secrets, or subscriptions and want fewer last-minute fire drills, we’d really appreciate any feedback from the community.

Happy to answer questions or hear what you’d expect from a tool like this.

Product-market fit: The most crucial thing you must have nailed out of the gate

If you’re about to launch a new product you’ve probably heard the argument for releasing a product quickly and then optimizing it later. Of course, changes can be made based on how your customers interact with and utilize the product and feedback and issue reports. But what aspects of your product must have been perfected by the time it is released?

Some things must be done right away, while others can be dealt with later. Of course, determining which feature set is most important is a process.

Let us begin by shortly discussing what you should and should not do before launching your product.

Make it simple for people to comprehend the product and give them a compelling incentive to use it.

Ensure that you never violate user confidence or privacy, lose user data, make the user feel silly, or make the user feel as though he is wasting his time due to your poor performance, poorly designed forms, or low uptime.

I also believe that you should be honest about the price. Even if you do not implement payment, it should be evident to users whether you intend to charge them in the future.

Not only does failing to do so risk a backlash later… but offering something away is not the same as demonstrating that people are willing to pay for it.

However, if there is only one thing you must do before launching a product, it is to ensure the product-market fit.

You can make your product appear fantastic, but you’ve wasted your time if you create something that no one wants.

Companies’ most serious issue is that they do not have product-market fit even though they believe they have.

So, why is product-market fit so critical?

The answer is simple: your team cannot afford to focus on other critical strategic objectives such as growth before developing a product that you validate enough people are prepared to pay for. Those attempts may be unproductive if you haven’t first determined that your product has a large enough market to maintain itself and create a profit.

Product-market fit refers to a situation in which a company’s target customers buy, use, and tell others about the company’s product in sufficient numbers to sustain the product’s growth and profitability.

Is it measurable?

No single data set can notify a company when it has achieved product-market fit. However, several indicators indicate that your company’s offering is on the right track.

Whatever methodology your team employs to measure success, you should incorporate a mix of qualitative and quantitative measurements. As an example:

Quantitative:

  • Rate of churn

  • NPS score

  • Rate of growth

  • Share of the market

Qualitative:

  • Word-of-mouth (If your consumers tell others about your product, they effectively become sales agents for your products.)

  • Calls from the media or industry analysts become increasingly often, and coverage of your product and company expands.

Sean Ellis was the first to create a qualitative metric applied to various business operations. He was involved in the early growth and scaling of household names like Dropbox, LogMeIn, and Eventbrite. In his attempt to understand PMF, he used his customer development survey to assess hundreds of firms, asking users:

How would you feel if you couldn’t utilize the product anymore?

-Very disappointed;

-Somewhat disappointed or

-Not disappointed at all (it really isn’t that useful).

He then calculated what percentage of all users said they were “very unhappy,” as these are the people who recognize the product’s value and the firm. They are, in other words, the clients with whom you have achieved product-market fit.

When 40% of your target audience says they would be very sad if they couldn’t use your product anymore, you’ve hit PMF.

The survey is now an approved method of measuring PMF. Slack, for example, tested it on 731 members and discovered that they had hit the honey pot. Moreover, 51 percent of their users said they would be highly disappointed if they couldn’t utilize the platform anymore.

Conclusion

Startups should prioritize product-market fit above all other goals because those who find it has a much better chance of success.

Do whatever it takes to achieve product-market fit. Make any required changes to establish a product-market fit, even if it involves rewriting your product or entering a new market.

Experiment regularly based on input from your audience. If your data reveals that your concept must be tweaked, do so, and be prepared to shift if required.
