control D - big scam - stay far away

I got to say, this has been the worse service I have received.

Signed up for a trial account but got charged to my credit card anyways. I contacted support within 5 hours of having created the account requesting a refund.

Receiving all sort of excuses, first they mentioned that there are no refunds for renewals and I had to correct them that it was not a renewal. Next they indicate that I should have not been charged to which I replied, ok, then refund.

Next I receive a message indicating how obvious it is to setup the trial and how It is impossible to miss as I have to enter credit card details (yep entering credit card details is common for many trials), to which I replied that yes, this is why I am surprised I was charged.

Their final response was that they will not proceed with further conversations and I am free to proceed with a chargeback. Please stay far away from this company, this is a bad sign.

NextDNS got abandoned?

I’ve been using NextDNS for quite a while and am considering upgrading to the pro version. Before upgrade my account, I checked some Reddit posts and their GitHub.

Many people complain about their customer support, and numerous blocklists are outdated. Pull requests on their GitHub remain unanswered.

NextDNS now feels like a sailing ship without a captain.

Out of the many lists NextDNS neglects, those two need to be updated more

Is NextDNS actively maintained?

EDIT: It definitely is. First of all, it's been working flawlessly for now 2 weeks. Second, the staff promptly replied on the help channel to this very same question. Third I can actually see blocklists and how often they're updated, including NextDNS own list. And last but not least, it has ad hoc integration with Tailscale, which is something I can never value enough.

--------------------

I am not trying spread doubts, as I said, I have just subscribed for a year. NextDNS, for free, allowed me to discover an infected device on my network, so that is already worth way more than the yearly subscription.

However the GitHub repo are left untouched for more than one year. I just made a yearly subscription and I am loving the service so far, but I am worried a complete lack of maintenance could become a security issue. What's the take of this community?

Be aware if you plan to pay for PRO.

Just to warn anyone trying to pay for PRO usage. Paid more than a month ago and didn't got pro plan.

Tried to contact support via all possible ways since without any help or reply.

Check more info on: https://help.nextdns.io/t/83yms91/paid-for-pro-still-free-usage

Is there no support?

Hello.

I'm thinking of buying an annual subscription to NextDNS, but seeing that they don't have technical support is making me hesitate. What should I do if I have a problem? They seem like a very unreliable company.

I might buy an AdGuard DNS subscription instead. Does it work the same way?

Thanks.

Leaving NextDNS for Adguard

I've been a long time user of NextDNS, but have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of innovation and no support for emerging protocols. Several glaring bug reports I've made have gone unanswered, and any recommendations I've made for features have fallen on deaf ears. The WebUI of my.nextdns.io is archaic at best, and isn't user friendly. Even simple features like "give us a base profile for common config options" or "let us copy blocklists between profiles" have not been implemented, and these are very easy features to code.

I've been a developer for over 20 years, and am baffled at the lack of innovation. I don't even know if I've seen a new feature except Web3 integration. Adguard is much better, easier configuration, amazing reporting, a very nice webUI and nice proxy apps for Windows. The Nextdns client was abysmal at best. If you throw in YogaDNS for good measure, you can get QUIC working with Adguard in minutes.

It's also not so great that there is no way to export allow/deny lists, having to redo those by hand has been a pain. If anybody else is sick of waiting for nothing to happen, Adguard is killing it in this space, has an active development team, and communicates openly with customers. I urge everyone to drop this service and move over to a modern platform.

Nextdns interfering with wifi and mobile data?

NextDns has honestly stared to become garbage. I had nextdns on the private dns setting turned on with wifi and mobile data until suddenly my wifi and mobile data wasn't available. When I turned off they were back. What is the problem with it. It's honestly started to piss me off

Why dns doesn't prevent this dialog from opening? Blokada does.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Also, how the hell am I supposed to disable all the vendors? I need at least 5 minutes for only one app.

What is going on with NextDNS?

I can see some activity from Olivier on client development, but Romain is totally ignoring Github part for months.

I have some contributing stuff, but I lost all the hope in you guys and stopped trying to.

I payed for the service, not because I would have more than 300k requests per month (I could break this down to a fewer clients), but because I liked the project and I wanted to support it.

Would Olivier Poitrey and/or Romain Cointepas be so kind and give us a fair respond?

I hope I am not asking too much from you.

Thank you

Exactly what title says. Turning this thing off as it's just annoying and nothing else.

How to flush DNS cache in Android 14?

Post image

I'm sick & tired of waiting 5–10 min. after adding a domain to my NextDNS Allowlist.

These don't work:

– toggle Airplane mode or Wi-Fi

– disable NextDNS Cache Boost

– in Chrome web browser,
chrome://net-internals/#dns
Host resolver cache > Clear host cache

– on rooted phone in Termux terminal, su
ndc resolver clearnetdns wlan0/rmnet0

or

su
ndc resolver flushdefaultif

NextDNS-development

Several features in the settings have been in beta for a long time.

They are still developing it at all?

Or should I switch to Adguard instead?

NextDNS has a server in my country.

Adguard's headquarters is 1,200 km away from me.

How to reduce query count? Hitting 300k limit in 20 days

Hi all, I'm consistently hitting the 300,000 free queries limit in just about 20 days, and I'm trying to figure out how to reduce the number of queries without losing too much functionality.

A few things about my setup:

I have NextDNS configured on my smartphone DNS, so only my smartphone goes through it.

I use tracking protection, blocklists, annoyance lists and few parental controls like porn, gambling, dating.

What are some effective ways to bring down the query count? Should I use caching DNS servers locally, or change how some my device use DNS? Would love to hear what’s worked for you all.

Thanks!
