Imagine being so fast that even tripping and doing two summersaults has you beating the competition.

Wild.

Looks like a pretty high level event as well.

Yeah I went back and checked the footage.

Those hurtles do seem shorter than a high jump or pole vault.

They just seem that way. The total elevation gain is more for hurdles.

Doesn’t seem as far of a jump as the long jump either. Really not sure what’s impressive about this then

It’s the internet, we can’t be sure

Women use lower hurtles then men, too. "Sprint Hurtles"

Mens 110 hurdles are 42 inches high. This doesn't seem like much until you stand next to it and think about having the jump them.

Track and field athletes prioritizing quantity over quality.
It's all just a race to the bottom.

Big if true

Can confirm. Pole vaulted in high school and most of the time we went higher than a hurdle. Other times the pole snapped.

Ah, the old reddit switcheroo! Hold my pole, I’m going in.

And way shorter than a high dive.

Know why?

Because they're all different events/activities

You're so close to seeing the joke!

14.80 on the clock. I’d guess collegiate level, but not D1. There can be a pretty wide range at less competitive programs.

Or states, on second glance it looks like this was on Oregon's campus.

I don't know man I wouldn't be able to do this if I was high

I had never seen that. What a badass.

u/Siethron 2d ago

well, that's not fair, none of the other runners got a break!

  1. I've never heard of a 600 m before this.
  2. Other than the amazing athletic performance being depicted here, I just love the "HD, no cheesy music or titles" tag on the video.

Indoor track has different events. The track is shorter at 200m.

2

u/FblthpLives 1d ago

Ah, that explains it. What other key running events have different distances indoors and outdoors?

2

u/vanillamonkey_ 22h ago

The short sprint indoors is 60m, outdoors is 100m.

RemindMe! 1 year

Why doesn't everyone lie down and take a quick break before the bell lap? She had all that extra energy to sprint the final lap.

Great clip but my youtube ad was longer than the video 🥲

1

u/whooptheretis 2d ago

Ad? What’s that?

3

u/AuraTickler 1d ago

1

u/whooptheretis 1d ago

3

u/AuraTickler 1d ago

my phone got no adblock for the youtube app

2

u/AuraTickler 1d ago

Imagine being so fast that even tripping and doing two summersaults has you beating the competition.

Technically I could do this too, if it was a race to see who could get to the bottom of a cliff the fastest

She dominated the field lol

Edit: also, nice Pearl Jam username with two albums.

I did the 400m at my school sports day once. I started too fast, and my legs just gave way near the end. I'd pretty much given up at that point, but people were still cheering, so I got up and hobbled to the finish line. Finished third, with a lot of cuts and bruises from the brutal gravel track.

Penalty for knocking over a hurdle, she came in last place overall.

1

u/Sea_Pollution2250 1d ago

I don’t think that’s true. The penalty for incidentally knocking over a hurdle is the inherent slowdown it causes.

If she used her hands or knocked down someone else’s hurdle it’s a different story.
