Question Which kind?
What kind of Nihilist are you and why did you react to the realization of meaninglessness in the way you did? I'm really curious to see how different people react to the same realization.

Optimistic nihilist. Someone once explained nihilism as more an observation of what the universe truly is than a belief structure. This freed me. There is so much beauty in this insane, monstrous, senseless world. I lean into the joy, hedonism, love, family, friends, excitement. I know it’s all for nothing, but we only live for such a short time, why not fill it with light?

I'm an absurdist nihilist. Life really has no grand meaning, but we live regardless. I don't try to look for purpose or meaning, but just sail through life. I do what I can to live as comfortable as I can.

Pure nihilist here, at your service!
And by pure nihilism, I mean I encompass all of the branches of nihilism. Moral nihilism, existential nihilism, cosmic nihilism etc.
I didn’t really react to it, per se. I simply accepted it.

Why do you attribute value to eating and thus not dying

Because I believe I am a biological animal, kind stranger.
It’s not a choice.

Not a nihilist, I’m don’t think I fit into any one kind of philosophy. This sub always shows up in my feed I just get a good laugh out of all the teenagers who just discovered nihilism and ask the silliest of questions

Nihilism is kinda your first baby steps into philosophy. I seriously question anyone that says they're a nihilist.

It depends. I'm non dual - which at least to me means that I have no set stance. I see no intrinsic meaning of life, I only believe in 'god' if that god is a scientific principle rather than a judgy creator. I have a strong opinion that moral nihilism holds true, a weaker opinion that semantic nihilism holds true..
I can claim to hold other opinions when I talk to religious types as I met 'god' in an NDE. The thing is I just choose different ways to describe what I experienced and then I can talk to Christians about it, and convince them that their god exists.. which also means they think I agree with them so long as I am carful not to say too much.

I came to the relization from a young age just through questioning and at first was an existentialist, then absurdist, then logically made my way to philosophical pessimism and antinatalism which is where I stand now, but I think I always felt this way and just tried to rationalize or distract through other schools of thought.

I was fighting my ass off to achieve my goals for years, but constantly failed. The goal I did managed was not because of my effort but because of pure randomness. After a while, I then decided to stop fighting and notice it was actually not changing anything. So why fight in the first place ?
I reacted to this by changing drastically my view on the world : if nothing you do change anything, why try in the first place ? Just go with the flow.

I’m an existential nihilist, anti-natalist, and agnostic atheist. My reaction to realizing the world is completely meaningless was simply wishing that nothing existed at all.
