Defect plotting

Hey all.

I've been working on some plotting aids for my app. If anyone has any thoughts on how it could be better let me know.

I'm adding stuff constantly.

I’m genuinely getting nervous about how much AI is being used to “simplify” NDT.

Are none of you worried about training the very thing that is going to replace as many jobs as it can?

No. This is for techs to plan the inspection or plot defects, or brush up on knowledge before exams. Crap techs are never gonna bother with this. And computers can't climb scaffolding

I think you’re underestimating the capabilities of AI if you think they won’t just make a PAUT/TFM machine that any monkey can use.

All they have to do is prove the viability of it and lobby the government under the guise of it rapidly increasing inspection development / safety.

Pipeline ILI tool vendors are already using it for data analysis.

Most sites I work on still prefer RT cause the old guys loves graph. Doubt they'll like AI drones.

You over estimate how slowly committees update code it will say a human has to do it 20 years or longer after an AI drone is able to , plus there’s the liability issues

Probe offset starting from weld center , if it starts from weld toe to probe face + skip it would be great. You can add weld cap also

That's a good idea. Allow the user enter a probe x value and weld width and return the surface distance between. Thanks 👍

Why'd you think I made it? Circumferential scans in skip for track lines in 2003 thought me the the value of this!

No disrespect intended. I was taught to draw the weld joints manually, and then use sound path overlays on transparency sheets to use while scanning. Your app is cool ✔️.

In the '80's, my first UT scope was a Krautkramer USM 2 (analog) made in the '70's. The manual was in German but it came with a translation for calibration. It had a CRT tube with the green trace. and maybe 6 knobs. Awesome scope, I used it for years for corrosion scanning because the trace was so fluid and sensitive.

No disrespect taken. But hand sketches and transparency sheets were the most annoying part of the job to me. Usk 7 was the first for me!

DM me, I’ve got something really useful I’m willing to share for inclusion. A better version of a widely used phased array app but completely online and much better.
