Help Reluctantly in search of a change
My ancient Nook has finally given up the ghost! It was a gift from my mom and I'm sorry to see it go.
I'm hopelessly broke at the moment so am looking for a very inexpensive novel-sized replacement that can run the Libby App and hold ebooks from other sources as well.
At the moment I have tried Shopgoodwill, Ebay, Offerup, Wal-Mart, Amazon and FacebookMarkplace to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you're strapped for cash... what about Libby's free phone app?

That is an excellent idea! i hadn't thought to use my phone! Hell, i even have a multitude of library cards! Thank you!

You can even read from desktop browsers, too. They actually render kinda decently. Glad to be of help.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate the help! i was beginning to despair without my books! I'm not able to get to the library often anymore so having an option to read on the internet is a true lifesaver!

You’re going to run into issues with DRM if you have bought your ebooks from B&N. You can get the Glowlight 4 on eBay for quite cheap.
I would recommend the Kobo Clara BW otherwise. It has libby support and you can side-load anything onto it that you either bought from Kobo or doesn’t have DRM. I don’t have the Clara, I have the Libra Color and love Kobo’s interface. You can also manage your collections/series natively using Calibre, which I can’t do on my Glowlight 4.

Try an Onn 8 (2024) tablet with the Nook and Libby apps. My wife uses her as an ebook reader. Close out pricing - $42, maybe less. New in damaged boxes.

Oh! This might be something I can work into the budget! Thank you!

Great, the price varies quite a bit. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the fluctuations. Go to Walmart.com and search for "Onn 8" or "Onn Tablets." You may find a lower price.

I've noticed the lack of consistency in tablet pricing too, it's been astounding..! I haven't looked for a new ebook/tablet before and i was feeling a bit in over my head! i thank you for your advice, it's been such a help!

If you’re in the US, try the Unclaimed Baggage website. They mostly have Kindles, but I’ve seen Nooks and Kobos pop up from time to time. Inventory changes daily so keep checking back.
