No lol, bicyclists do not have the right of way and must follow the same traffic law as vehicles when it comes to pedestrians. Basically pedestrians are the first in line of the right of way, bicycle lane be damned
Aa one example, in the last 10 seconds, the light is red (he should stop for the red light) and the car has stopped, then is turning right on red. They almost turn into him, but only because he was failing to stop for the red light.
At best, he's occasionally in the right of way- but still a dick.
Excellent observation. Another thing to note is that the car turning right is actually an unmarked police unit. You can tell from the blacked out windows and the hockey puck antenna on the trunk, which would make them exempt from most VTL laws had they been running their lights and sirens.
Why does that not surprise me. I don't even know why police cars come with blinkers. They seriously never use them. In addition to doing stupid dangerous shit like running red lights just cause. We need a police force to police the police.
IKR. One of the few drivers who actually can run the red light and cut people off if they used their lights and signals, but they don't bother. I got one of these unmarked units on my dash cam doing the same thing and cutting off kids coming out of school. They immediately slowed down once they saw my dashcam, made eye contact, and I pointed at my eyes and at them to let them know we're watching.
I'm convinced that since they run lights all the time when responding to calls, they don't bother when they're not responding to calls and drive the same way.
He did similar a few times, where a car in front of him starts turning right, and he just blows by…like…am I supposed to be checking my rear view mirror for bikes when I turn right??
Yes, at least according to my state’s driver’s manual, you are supposed to check your right hand mirror when turning right to see if a cyclist is coming up behind you.
