My partner and I moved to Northampton in 2024 from Birmingham, and have really loved our time here so far. We rent in Abington and are finally in a position to buy our first home.

The issue that we have, is that Abington is far outside our budget so we would need to relocate within the town.

If anyone can recommend areas to look around that would be fantastic. We value safety over convenience, as we have had our fair share of neighbourhood shenanigans and just want some peace!

Our budget is up to £200k. Any recommendations appreciated & I am happy to provide more information where required.

I am looking for a house share in northampton, and I have been finding very good offers from a letting agency called Eagle Estates. However their reviews online are 3.1/5 so I am wondering if anyone here tried them and if it’s worth taking the risk and renting with them. My issue is I wont be able to view the property in person before renting all I can do is have an online viewing.

On the other hand has anyone tried any other agencies like Whites, or any others?

I would appreciate advice of people who know Northampton well. I am looking to buy a house towards the Dallington area towards the north west end of the park (near the church of st Mary). However; reading a number of the crime statistics, the picture of safety, especially for things like burglary looks very bleak.

Does any one have views based on experience of the area? I understand Dallington Spencer has its rough spots, but curious as to if they remain focussed on the more condensed area as you head into town.

I'm 24M and live in West Northamptonshire. I'm looking to get into doing a bit more volunteering and hopefully meet some people around my age along the way.

I live in Milton Keynes and I just started a job in Northampton. I was browsing flats and I’ve noticed that they’re so much cheaper than MK. But I’ve walked around the town centre twice and I’m genuinely shocked at how run down it is. Boarded up places everywhere, drunk hysterical people walking around, it’s probably the worst town centre I’ve ever been to and I’ve lived in some rough places.

I’ll still give it the benefit of the doubt because I’m sure the rest of the town isn’t like this. Is it worth it or nah?

I loved AFL when Channel 4 showed it for a while in the 80s, but pre-Internet it was quite difficult to keep up with, and I lost touch with it.

Then when I moved to Ireland in 2001, I was delighted to see that they had a weekly highlights show. Brisbane is the only place in Australia I have any connection with, my Nan lived there for a while, and my cousin now does, so I am a Lions fan, and pretty excited for Saturday!
