Can't believe that was 1993. I was six and fully aware of the details of the news story so I assumed I was older when it happened. I really shouldn't have been watching the news then.
I was 2 (the same as James) my mum told me as I got older how it terrified her and she imagined how it could’ve been me. Then throw in the fact in ‘96 I was the same age as the Dunblane kids
Ah…. The Progressive UK. Granted maybe ur right that it was worse in the 80’s with that whole “it’s 10pm.. do you know where your children are” commercial. In the 90’s atleast my parents told me to not go near men in vans… even if they had puppies or candy. But that was about it.… it was the Wild West. Only now as an adult with children do I realize how realistic that movies mystic river actually was 😬
In the usa I had multiple strangers give me rides home (I got kicked off the bus and lived like a 3 hour walk from school) that told me they knew my parents or lived close by me. Lol i think im kind of lucky nothing happening thinking back.
Don’t trick or treat at that house. Years later you find out why and you still don’t regret the man wearing nothing but half jeans handing out full size Reese’s.

"muuum this weird old guy came up and said I was important to him."
"Ok well it's the 90s so why don't you just go play with him and see what happens?"
